I’ve listened to thousands of books online and then I got Audible. So I have a smattering of knowledge in oral story telling. I have for the longest time had an affinity to the old radio shows of the 1930’s +/- 3 era. Especially those of suspended sense, Western, horror, and a above all, adaptations of the classics. I listened to the Christmas Carol 3 times, I do agree with Orson, it would have been the bomb if Lionel Barrymore could have participated in that show, however it was still the toppest of toppers! I love that in this Campbell Soup sponsored show they read the true Christmas story from Luke. Today that would probably cause aneurisms for some people. Gosh, how did the world survive back then going through such dastardly punishments as hearing that you are loved so much, Emmanuel was sent? I know weak ones, it’s just so horrible. Anyway, the delivery in all of these Christmas programs was amazing. I’m not sure who is running the show, podcast wise, but I want to thank you for what you’ve done thus far. Please keep up the excellent work! It is my hope that other classic programs are added and that others even younger than me will learn how to appreciate these dramatized stories that have such depth, breadth, and life!!! A joy to kick back and listen! Agatha Christie and Perot Christmas story??? That is just freaking awesome!!! But the Christmas Carol and It’s a Wonderful Life were simply amazing. My eyes still water during It’s a Wonderful Life because it’s just a brief glimpse of the power of redemption and the strength and bond of true and loyal friends and the love of family. Been on that bridge before and have met my own Clarence’s. Thank you again for providing us with such wonderful listening joy!!
I just finished the “Lights Out Christmas Story”. My goodness, one of the best stories ever. It’s 0208 and I could not have stopped had I wanted too. Another ball hit right out of the park to the moon!!!
