Don't Drive Your Teen to Rebellion

Don't Drive Your Teen to Rebellion

While I'm not saying parents have complete control over what their teens do (they don't), they DO have influence- and age old psychology does a pretty good job of predicting how the human brain will respond to certain parenting behaviors.
Knowing what I teach in this Pivot Parenting episode will better help you understand and utilize proven psychology methods while interacting with your kids to give you the best odds for their behaviors you're hoping for, and the ones you really don't want. You could be self sabotaging and not even know it.

Strengthening Your Mom Network, with Jody Moore

Strengthening Your Mom Network, with Jody Moore

The role of mother can be very lonely. We don't want to blab our teen's struggles to our friends, we are pulled in every direction, trying to be there for everyone, all while the list of things to do grows by the day. Why is it important to have friends amidst the chaos and how does one go about fostering meaningful friendships amongst everything else?
This is exactly what Jody and I discuss today in Pivot Parenting. Women need each other and this isn't a selfish thing. Listen in as we break it down and Jody gives us the one hack to remember in friendly interactions.

    About my guest:
After having her first two kids, Jody Moore struggled with work/life balance, embracing
motherhood, and liking herself. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints she felt guilty for not loving the role of mother and wife, and turned
to life coaching for help. The transformation she experienced not only helped her at
work and at home, it strengthened her testimony of Christ leading her to dive into
learning the tools of coaching and to leave her position as a corporate leadership
coach to launch her own coaching practice. Jody is certified through The Life Coach
School and completed Master Coach Certification in 2018.
Today, as an LDS Life Coach, Jody has helped tens of thousands of people through her

    213. Teaching Your Teens About Consent and Self-abandonment with Jennifer Finlayson-Fife PhD

    213. Teaching Your Teens About Consent and Self-abandonment with Jennifer Finlayson-Fife PhD

Today I have Jennifer on to talk about all things consent, self- abandonment, teaching healthy sexuality, and advocacy. I get that talking about such topics can feel awkward, intimidating, and confusing as to how to go about it. Stress no more! One of my favorite things Jennifer said was, "if you want someone's approval it puts you at a disadvantage." She was referencing the story of my first kiss, which I tell in my book, How I Fixed My Teen, and how I really wanted him to like me and how I let things go too far in an effort to win his approval... and also because I totally froze. We talk about that as well. You don't want to miss listening in as we spill all the tea in the best of ways.
To order the book that we reference, and learn more about parenting your teen, visit me at heatherfrazier.com
About Jennifer: I am a relationship and sexuality educator and coach, as well as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois with a Ph.D in Counseling Psychology from Boston College. I wrote my dissertation on LDS women and sexuality, and have taught college-level courses on human sexuality. I currently teach online courses and live workshops to individuals and couples seeking to develop their capacity for deeper emotional and sexual intimacy. Additionally, I offer limited private and group coaching services to individuals and couples who have benefitted from my podcasts and courses and are looking for more direct input on improving their lives and relationships.
I am a frequent contributor on the subjects of sexuality, relationships, and spirituality to LDS-themed blogs, magazines, and podcasts, including the “Ask a Mormon Sex Therapist” podcast series. My husband and I are the parents of three children and are active members of the LDS church.

Being a Confident Parent, with Tony Dufresne

Being a Confident Parent, with Tony Dufresne

Many parenting issues boil down to one specific struggle: Confidence.
Advocating for our kid, standing up to them, following through with consequences, loving unconditionally, having peace, and so many other things all have this common root struggle. Today, Tony and I discuss the details and help you find more confidence and therefore less struggle and more joy.
To learn more about parenting and order best seller, How I Fixed My Teen, visit me at heatherfrazier.com
About my guest, Tony: So, you may be asking yourself…How did this guy become so interested in Women’s Confidence?
My path to standing here, in front of you right now, is 100% because of my daughter…my amiga…my best buddy…Rachel.
Our story begins when she was about one. That’s when Rachel’s mom and I parted ways and circumstances led to me being a single dad at the age of 27. Here I was raising a daughter on my own.
A daughter…a gender of the human species that I thought I knew about, but in reality, had absolutely no clue! Although I didn’t know it at the time, it was the beginning of ‘girl’s world’ bootcamp for this guy and it changed my life. For the better. That epiphany led me to lean into my passion for helping others through therapy and coaching. I went back to grad school at 30 to get my Psych degree. Then my doctorate.
In 2011, I opened my own counseling and coaching company, which in turn led to the “She Talks Confidence” podcast, YouTube channel (Tony Dufresne, PhD), and the book (Surrounded by Idiots).
My podcast, speaking engagements, and online True Confidence program are labors of love that have come from three decades of success, failure, setbacks, challenges, breakthroughs, and comebacks. Find all things Tony at tonydufresne.com

Love this podcast!

I don’t have teens yet but even with two young kids I find so much value in Pivot Parenting. I’ve had so many mindset shifts and my relationship with my young boys is stronger because of what I’ve learned about connecting with them and parenting through this podcast.
