    EMERGENCY EPISODE: The Batman (2022)

Unless you've been bat-living under a bat-rock, you've heard the news that Steven Soderbergh is stepping in to help Matt Reeves finish principal photography on THE BATMAN: PART II - which makes 2022's THE BATMAN an essential text for our podcast project! We talk about this very unexpected development before confronting the famous Batman himself. What did we expect from this Batman film? What did we end up getting? Are we too old for this sort of thing? Why is the movie three hours long? Will anyone still listen to the show after this? Tune in to find out, bat-listeners! Further Reading: Batman: Year One by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli Batman: The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale Further Viewing: The other BATMAN movies, obviously KLUTE (Pakula, 1971) CHINATOWN (Polanski, 1974) TAXI DRIVER (Scorsese, 1976) BLADE RUNNER (Scott, 1982) SE7EN (Fincher, 1995) ZODIAC (Fincher, 2007) THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE (McKay, 2017) PRIMETIME (Oppenheim, 2026)   Follow Pod Casty For Me: https://www.podcastyforme.com/ https://twitter.com/podcastyforme https://www.instagram.com/podcastyforme/ https://bsky.app/profile/podcastyforme.bsky.social https://www.youtube.com/@podcastyforme Support us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/PodCastyForMe Artwork by Jeremy Allison: https://www.instagram.com/jeremyallisonart Produced by Ian Rhine & Jake Serwin. PATREON PREVIEW: Home On The Range (2004)

This is a preview of a premium episode from our Patreon feed, Paid Costly For Me! Head over to Patreon.com/PodCastyForMe to hear more for just $5 a month. Hey check it out, it's the movie several people thought we were covering when we did OPEN RANGE! But instead of Costner and Duvall making a stand against cattle barons, it's Roseanne and Judi Dench and Jennifer Tilly as animated cows...taking a stand against a cattle baron! We look at yet another animated film for children (always goes well) and interrogate the idea that it "killed" hand-drawn animation at Disney. Plus, how can one even say which Disney movies are "the good ones," anyway? (Ian feels he can, easily.) Wacky ep, we hope you enjoy! As always, thank you to Jetski for our theme music and Jeremy Allison for our artwork. Produced by Ian Rhine & Jake Serwin. Additional production by Ryan Torgeson.

    Full Circle/Command Z (2023)

They say Soderbergh's prolific, listener, but did you realize he released TWO television shows in the same WEEK in 2023? OK, sure, one of them is more like a series of webisodes that add up to about 90 minutes. But a couple of them have Liev Schreiber! He's a real guy! We did our due diligence and watched both FULL CIRCLE, Sodey and Ed Solomon's hyperlink TRAFFIC-meets-HIGH AND LOW miniseries, and COMMAND Z, his weird self-hosted miniseries about preventing the apocalypse through incremental change. It's all pretty standard stuff for us: Guyanese diaspora gangs, the correct left position on nuclear energy, arguing about whether a joke is funny. Check it out! PATREON PREVIEW: Apocalypto (2006)

This is a preview of a premium episode from our Patreon feed, Paid Costly For Me! Head over to Patreon.com/PodCastyForMe to hear more for just $5 a month. Live (to tape) from México! The "chicos" sit down fresh from their travels in the Yucatán to talk Mel Gibson's Mayan language survival epic APOCALYPTO, widely held up as proof that he isn't just an insane racist weirdo. You're never going to believe this...we found some Historical Context. Apologies in advance if you're a big 'PTO fan, but we suspect you may not have rewatched it in a while. Plus, some chat about our experiences in Celestún, Mérida, cenotes - damn, is there any experience these guys won't "Mayan" for content?! As always, thanks to Jetski for our theme music and Jeremy Allison for our artwork. Produced by Ian Rhine and Jake Serwin. Additional Production by Ryan Torgeson.

Soderbergh Ep. 40: Magic Mike's Last Dance (2023) with Aaron & Carlee from Hit Factory

What if you made a movie that was really successful and then your friend directed a sequel people liked even better and THEN the star turned it into a live show with his name on it? You'd want to...let's see here...make a movie sort of imagining what if the character was actually the one who made the live show? Sure, why not! One thing's for sure, though - it better have Salma Hayek in it playing a rich woman named "Maxandra." We bid a fond "cheerio" to male entertainer Mike Lane in MAGIC MIKE'S LAST DANCE, Steven Soderbergh's conclusion to his unexpected trilogy, and we're joined by our very smart friends Aaron and Carlee from Hit Factory! As always with these two, our conversational cup runneth over with discussions of eroticism (and its absence), life after sex work, class, and ottoman humping. Terrific ep, we hope you enjoy! PATREON PREVIEW: The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015) with Comrade Yui

This is a preview of a premium episode from our Patreon feed, Paid Costly For Me! Head over to Patreon.com/PodCastyForMe to hear more for just $5 a month. Wait a minute...that's not ZARDOZ! Our friend and comrade Yui returns to discuss a different movie from the one we talked about last time they were on: Guy Ritchie's 2015 film adaptation of THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E., which emerged from the wreckage of Steven Soderbergh and Scott Z. Burns's abruptly canceled version. Why does Yui want to talk about this film? What does it (and its source material) have to say about geopolitics/Hollywood & Soderbergh's view of same? How tall is everyone in the cast? We answer these and many other questions within - check it out! Follow Comrade Yui: https://x.com/yui_antinomy https://www.patreon.com/c/comrade_yui/ https://letterboxd.com/comrade_yui/ Thanks as always to Jetski for our theme music and Jeremy Allison for our artwork.
