She explains how the COVID-19 pandemic prompted the company to reflect on its business and consider its future direction. Lou shares her passion for sustainability and responsible business practices, particularly in the fashion industry. Building Baina with CEO & Creative Director Bailey Meredith

Building Baina with CEO & Creative Director Bailey Meredith

Baina is a brand that celebrates bathing and the routine of bathing. In this interview, I sit down with Bailey Meredith, Co-founder, CEO and Creative Director of Baina, based out of Sydney. Bailey and her childhood friend, Anna, set out with the idea of creating a business in the homeware space that focused on a product that didn't have a size curve, had no seasonality, and was gender-neutral. They landed on towels as their product and have worked with the same manufacturer in Portugal since the beginning. Baina has built a strong brand reputation through its connection with customers, and their focus on quality and design, transparency and authenticity. This self-funded brand takes a considered approach to growth, ensuring they can support and sustain it.
We pull apart her shoots, and hear about the upcoming growth of the brand and Bailey's way of creating one of the most visually sought-after brands on the market.

Petit: 5 lessons from the trenches of running my own creative business

In this episode, I share some valuable lessons I've learned throughout her career in the production business. I share the importance of prioritising tasks and doing the hardest thing first, as well as the mindset shift of rehearsing things to remove pressure and foster creativity. I also talk about the concept of allocating levers to achieve goals when you get stuck and the power of reverse engineering. I also emphasise that success is a result of consistent effort and a hundred smaller nudges, rather than one big opportunity.

He emphasises the importance of maintaining a slow and handmade approach to his art. He also talks about the significance of childhood memories and personal experiences in shaping his artistic style.
