I have unfollowed this show. I have really respected Brian and his work. I find the tone of this show off-putting. The “let’s see what happens next” and “let’s just go where this takes us” attitude isn’t working. The casual tone might not be forced, but comes across that way. It all feels a little pained. The ad reads reflect the tone of the show as a whole. The “we want to advertise in a new way” thing doesn’t work. You can want to advertise in a new way, but I think you should keep that internal. I want to see the finished product, the proposed idea. I don’t want to see you stumbling through some half-baked ideas just to continue producing content. What the show amounts to is hocking some artificial intelligence gadget, pulling other shows into this show’s feed, and leading us along through Brian’s changing interests. Brian is a good journalist. This show’s original conceit is interesting. Don’t make this podcast a bucket into which you dump every semi-interesting idea as soon as you have it. Follow things in the background. Craft a narrative. Present us with something polished and semi-finished. Not everything has to be shiny and completely produced, but I don’t feel the tone of this show lands the way you want it to. It feels half-baked.
