Episode 196: "Fanboys" (2009) With Rob!

Welcome back, Radical Ones! Our Star Wars Summer has officially reached its SEASON FINALE, and we’re ending things with a movie made for every obsessive movie geek who has ever counted down the days to a new Star Wars adventure: “Fanboys” from 2009! And who better to join us for the finale than the return of our original co-host and resident Movie Geek, Rob! Set in 1998, Fanboys follows a group of lifelong Star Wars fanatics during the unbelievable hype leading up to Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. When they learn their friend Linus may not live long enough to see the movie, the gang resurrects an old childhood dream: take a cross-country road trip, break into Skywalker Ranch, and steal an early look at Episode I! What follows is a ridiculous Star Wars-fueled adventure packed with Star Wars references, arguments with Trekkies, friendship, nostalgia, road-trip insanity and some incredible cameos from familiar faces including Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Ray Park, William Shatner, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. But underneath all the jokes, Fanboys is really about something we know very well around here: holding onto the movies, characters and memories that meant everything to us growing up. “Fanboys follows a group of lifelong Star Wars fans on a cross-country mission to infiltrate Skywalker Ranch and see The Phantom Menace before its release. Set against the enormous anticipation surrounding Episode I, the 2009 comedy combines road-trip madness, geek culture, friendship, nostalgia and a genuine love letter to Star Wars fandom.” Stars: Sam Huntington, Chris Marquette, Dan Fogler, Jay Baruchel, Kristen Bell, Seth Rogen, Danny Trejo, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Ray Park, William Shatner, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. So grab your lightsabers one last time as Rob the Movie Geek returns, we say goodbye to Star Wars Summer and officially close out another season of Radical Retro Rewind?! And don’t go too far, Radical Ones… because the road to our 200TH EPISODE is officially underway and we’ll also be heading back to Third Earth for ThunderCats 2011! ⚡️ Please Like 👍 Comment 📝 and Subscribe ✔️ to support the channel! ⚡️Rob's Instagram: /Brunch With The Halliwells ⚡️Davids Instagram ⚡️Radical Ryan's Instagram Please Like 👍 Comment 📝 Subscribe ✔️ to support the channel! THUNDERCATS INSTAGRAMINSTAGRAM TWITTER⚡️For Business Inquiries & Beyond: Ryanhunterstudios@gmail.com Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Episode 195: "Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure" & “The Battle for Endor” (1984/1985)

Welcome back, Radical Ones! Our Star Wars Summer takes one last trip to the forest moon of Endor as we tackle BOTH live-action Ewok movies: “Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure” (1984) and “Ewoks: The Battle for Endor” (1985)! And who better to join us than the return of our friend and Ewok fan our Lovely Leah! First, Caravan of Courage introduces us to young siblings Cindel and Mace Towani, who find themselves stranded on Endor after their family’s starcruiser crashes. With their parents missing, the children team up with Wicket and a brave caravan of Ewoks on a fantasy-filled quest through the forests of Endor. Then things get MUCH darker in The Battle for Endor, as Cindel and Wicket face the invading Sanyassan Marauders, led by the villainous Terak and aided by the witch Charal. Along the way, they meet the wonderfully grumpy hermit Noa Briqualon and his speedy little companion Teek. These movies may be strange, cheesy, surprisingly dark and unlike almost anything else in the Star Wars universe… but for Ewok fans, they’re also a wonderfully weird piece of 1980s Star Wars history. “Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure and The Battle for Endor expand the world of Endor beyond Return of the Jedi, blending Star Wars with classic fantasy, family adventure, monsters, magic and plenty of Ewoks. Originally released as television films in 1984 and 1985, the two adventures follow Wicket and young Cindel Towani through two very different journeys across the forest moon." Stars: Warwick Davis, Aubree Miller, Eric Walker, Fionnula Flanagan, Guy Boyd, Wilford Brimley, Siân Phillips, Carel Struycken, Niki Botelho, Paul Gleason, Daniel Frishman, Debbie Lee Carrington, Tony Cox, Kevin Thompson, Margarita Fernández and Pam Grizz. Episode 193: "Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi" (2017)

Welcome back, Radical Ones! Our Star Wars Summer continues this week as we jump into "Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi" from 2017! Luke Skywalker has finally been found... but let's just say he's not exactly thrilled to have company. Rey begins her Jedi training, the Resistance is hanging on by a thread, Leia takes an unexpected trip through space that had audiences yelling what in the "Mary Poppins?!", oh and Kylo Ren decides it's time to shake up the galaxy. Meanwhile, David is happy to report that he STILL hates Snoke, and somehow the giant hologram manages to become even more ridiculous. Will The Last Jedi win David over... or just add even more fuel to his rant? Its time...steer clear of Canto Bight and join us as we tackle one of the most talked-about (and divisive!) films in the entire Star Wars saga. May the Force be with you... because David's opinions certainly will! “Star Wars: The Last Jedi continues the Skywalker saga as Rey seeks guidance from a reluctant Luke Skywalker while the Resistance fights to survive pursuit by the First Order. Featuring striking visuals, bold storytelling choices, and complex character arcs, it challenges expectations within the Star Wars universe. While divisive among fans, it is widely praised for its ambition, emotional depth, and inventive expansion of the series' mythology." Stars: Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran and Frank Oz. Episode 192: "Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens" (2015)

Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡ STAR WARS SUMMER continues and we blast more than 30 years into the future as Ryan and David take on "Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens!" A new generation has arrived, the First Order is rising, Luke Skywalker is missing, and Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, and Kylo Ren are stepping into a galaxy filled with some very familiar faces. But the real question is… has the Force awakened something in David?! Because he has A LOT to say this week, and one thing is already very clear: David is NOT impressed by Snoke. And here’s what makes this next chapter of Star Wars Summer even more fun: David has absolutely NO CLUE what happens in this upcoming trilogy. No spoilers, no idea where Rey’s story is going, no clue what’s coming for Kylo Ren, Luke, Snoke, or anyone else. Ryan knows what’s ahead. David does not. And we’re going to experience every twist, reaction, complaint, and “WHAT?!” right along with him. Grab your lightsaber, hop aboard the Falcon, and join us as Star Wars Summer officially enters the sequel trilogy with The Force Awakens! “Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes place 30 years after the fall of the Empire as a new threat, the First Order, rises. Desert scavenger Rey and defecting stormtrooper Finn join Han Solo and Chewbacca in a desperate quest tied to the missing Luke Skywalker. Mixing nostalgic elements with fresh characters, thrilling action, and visual spectacle, it’s widely regarded as an exciting, if familiar, chapter that reinvigorated the saga." Stars: Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Max von Sydow. Episode 191: "Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi" (1983)

Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡ STAR WARS SUMMER continues as we reach the final chapter of the original trilogy with 1983’s "Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi" This week, Ryan and David are joined by our special guest and longtime listener, Lovely Leah, joining us all the way from Australia! Each week, she supplies us with the movie audio clips we use during our ThunderCats reviews and beyond! Jabba’s Palace also unlocks one of Ryan’s childhood memories as he shares the story of the Jabba the Hutt-inspired play he put on in the fifth grade, which somehow became complete mass hysteria! Together, we journey from the strange creatures and musical numbers of Jabba’s Palace to the forests of Endor, the unfinished second Death Star, and the emotional final confrontation between Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and the Emperor. Along the way, we discuss adding Ewoks blinks , “Yub Nub,” Vader’s redemption, and whether anyone in Jabba’s Palace sleeps somewhere that is not behind one giant curtain?! Join us as we laugh, get nostalgic, and become surprisingly emotional while celebrating the movie that brought the original Star Wars trilogy to a powerful and hopeful conclusion. As always: May the Force be with you, Radical Ones! “Return of the Jedi concludes the original Star Wars trilogy with the Rebel Alliance mounting a daring plan to end the Empire once and for all, while Luke Skywalker faces his greatest personal test in confronting Darth Vader and the Emperor. Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡ This week on Radical Retro Rewind?!, Radical Ones, we’re taking a slight detour through Star Wars Summer… because somehow the galaxy far, far away crashed straight into The Muppet Show! Can Luke Skywalker convince everyone that Mark Hamill is merely his “cousin”? Will Kermit ever forgive the Star Wars crew for stealing his show?
