Georgia On Our Minds
We’re back from the holiday break and have Georgia on our minds. As such we welcome Erick Erickson, host of “Atlanta’s Evening News” on WSB AM/FM, and he joins to us to analyze “suitcase-gate” and give us his take on January’s double US Senate election in the Peach State. (Erick’s podcast is available right here on […]

You Can Re-Count On It
Two weeks after the election and we’re still deep into re-counts, ballot challenges, and other legal machinations. To help us sort it all out, we asked Powerline’s Steve Hayward to sit in for Rob Long and (as John Lennon famously said) give us some truth. And to give us even more truth, we welcome Sean […]

This week, John Yoo, the Ricochet Podcast Senior Election Fraud Analyst and the Joan and Ray Kroc McRib Scholar at Hamburger University sits in for Peter Robinson and kicks the show off with a deep dive on where we stand with all of the current court cases and challenges around the election. Then, Avik Roy (listen […]

Mailing It In
Is it the dawning of a new era or are we continuing the one we’re already in? The answer was not clear when we assembled today at 9AM Pacific Time (the best time zone, as everyone knows), but we do our best to pundit all of the facts we knew when we rolled tape clicked […]

Closing Arguments
This is it, folks — the last Ricochet Podcast prior to the 2020 election. What a long strange trip it’s been (no, that is not the closing song, but we thought about it). To wrap this election season up, we give you another in a series of spirited debates between The Founders® –that’s Peter Robinson […]

The Home Stretch
As you may be aware, we had a Presidential debate last night. The President did well, we all agree on that. Will it move the polls? Do the polls matter? We discuss. Then, Hoover’s Shelby Steele and his filmmaker son Eli Steele have made What Killed Michael Brown, a provocative new documentary about race and the […]

Feeling Stuck in the MIddle
It’s funny. People who do navel gazing for a living are optimistic and those who study the charts, and talk with the pundits, all seem to be on one side or the other. One thing is that this is not a normal year. There’s Covid fatigue, and somehow, some disbelief that the Blue State Govs have got it right, and Trump has got it wrong. Further, the guy who is the ‘challenger’ is the oldest man ever running for a National Office. You think people are interested in having a guy like Biden run this outrageously out of control Federal Government? I don’t see the enthusiasm for this guy, young people are not going back to their college towns to vote for this guy; black women will not be turning out in higher numbers, but black men will; that the Hispanic vote will look better in the American West and Florida; and may even turn the corner in California to at least ⅓. And white men and women, particularly with the law and order issues on the rise, and the suburban issues, will go in overwhelming numbers for any GOP candidate that doesn’t stink up the place. I don’t see us defeating the BIG BLUE numbers that underlie the House and local races (where we will lose more than we think), but in the big ticket Senate and Presidency, GOP will prevail. Then the heavy lifting gets heavier, as 20 to 30 towns and cities are lit up the day after by those peaceful demonstrators.
Great Guests, Terrible Hosts, Poor Production
This show manages to get excellent guests and their interviews are very entertaining. The hosts however are not so excellent. James Lilacs really needs to lay off the coke. His constant snorting into the microphone is very distracting and he can be downright surly sometimes. Rob Long is a Never-Trumper who will not allow any positive comment about the President to go unchallenged. Peter Robinson seems to be very intelligent but is so self-deprecating that it appears as though he has been cast as the buffoon in this ensemble. The production quality has improved a little lately. But there are often editting mistakes, do-overs, and behind the scenes conversations that make it to the final release. Not as funny outtakes at the end, but throughout the show. It makes me wonder if anyone actually listens to the show before they release it. If not for the very entertaining guests I would have stopped listening long ago. I would recommend that these conservatives get out of the liberal strongholds where they live and spend some time with the people who elected Donald Trump and have supported him for four years. Perhaps they may have a different perspective.

The only political podcast I still follow
As 2020 has worn me down, my appetite for political news and commentary has diminished greatly. Except for the Ricochet Podcast. Fascinating guests and charming hosts keep me coming back every week!
