Settle and Source Sourel

Angela M Carter

Welcome to Settle and Source Sourel, a sacred listening space for women who are ready to rise from the heaviness they have carried and return to the wisdom within. Each episode is a Sourel, a short voiced transmission set to sound, created from the work of Angela M. Carter, founder of Trauma Release Centre. A Sourel is a bridge between the nervous system and the soul, between survival and source, between the woman who has been holding everything together and the deeper feminine wisdom that has been waiting beneath the noise. These reflections are created for the woman who may have felt buried beneath old patterns, silenced by fear, dimmed by exhaustion, or held back by energies that were never truly hers to carry. Through words, sound and sacred presence, each Sourel offers an invitation to soften, awaken and begin moving out of the darkness that has kept her disconnected from her own light. The divine feminine is woven through every Sourel as nurture, protection, intuition, truth, creation and inner knowing. These are feminine light codes for the woman who is ready to remember herself. Not as something to force. Not as something to perform. But as something that may begin to rise from within when the system feels safe enough to listen. Every Sourel carries Angela’s words, Angela’s message and Angela’s thirty years of clinical and spiritual practice. Her work brings together trauma-informed therapy, Internal Family Systems, nervous system wisdom, somatic awareness and the sacred understanding that healing is not only about recovery. It is also about return. The voice is delivered by an assistant on Angela’s behalf, allowing her work to reach more women while honouring the very message she teaches, that women do not need to burn themselves out in order to serve, create, love or lead. A Sourel does not tell a woman who she is. It does not tell her what she must become. It opens a doorway. It offers a frequency. It creates a bridge back to the source within her. Settle in. Let the sound meet you gently. Let the light find what has been hidden. This is where the remembering begins. Find out more about creating a Sourel at www.traumareleasecentre.com

    Beneath the Heat

Send us Fan Mail Beneath the Heat Anger can be bright, immediate and full of energy. It can arrive as sharpness, pressure, heat, defence, withdrawal, or the sudden need to push something away. This episode begins beneath that heat. Beneath the Heat is a Sourel for the woman who is ready to listen for the tenderness anger may be guarding. It does not ask the fire to disappear. It does not ask the softer place beneath it to reveal itself before it feels safe. It simply creates a sacred pause where both strength and vulnerability are allowed to belong. This reflection explores the possibility that beneath anger there may be hurt, fear, sadness, disappointment, shame, loneliness, grief, or the ache of not feeling important. Anger may have stepped forward because something more tender did not feel protected enough to stand alone. Beneath the Heat honours the wisdom of the feminine system. Sometimes softness was not safe. Sometimes tears were ignored. Sometimes needs were dismissed. Sometimes tenderness needed armour. So the fire came forward. This Sourel invites the listener to ask gently, what might be underneath this. Not to bypass anger. Not to make tenderness more acceptable than fire. But to widen the room so more of the inner truth can be held. Beneath the Heat is part of The Fire Within, a September Sourel series for women learning to hear the sacred message inside anger. It is a return to the places where hurt, truth, dignity and inner light have been waiting beneath the noise. Beneath the heat, there may be a part of you that has waited a long time for protection that does not require hiding. If you find yourself wanting something to return to between these reflections, in the actual moment a pattern like this one takes hold, I also built an app called Settle and Source. It offers a ninety-second guided practice for exactly the kind of moment this reflection has been describing, the gap between noticing an urge and knowing what to do with it. It is not a replacement for anything here, simply another door, in case it is the right one for you. https://settleandsource.com Settle and Source: The Podcast is created by Angela M. Anger Is Not The Enemy

Send us Fan Mail Anger Is Not the Enemy Anger can feel frightening when it has moved too quickly, spoken too sharply, or left shame behind after it has passed. It can also feel frightening when a woman has learned early that anger was not safe, not allowed, or too much for others to bear. This episode begins by softening the belief that anger is the enemy. Not the Enemy is a Sourel for the woman who has swallowed her anger, hidden it, apologised for it, judged it, feared it, or turned it inward for so long that she no longer knows how to meet it with compassion. It invites her to come closer to anger without handing it control. This reflection recognises that anger may be carrying more than fire. It may be carrying grief, humiliation, powerlessness, disappointment, fear, or the memory of times when no one came to help. It may have become fierce because the softer places beneath it did not feel protected. Not the Enemy opens a sacred middle place. Not letting anger run everything. Not locking it away. Listening. Staying near. Allowing the fire to become known without making it the whole truth. This Sourel asks, can I hear anger without becoming it. Can I turn towards it without surrendering to it. Can I stay curious for one breath longer than I usually do. Not the Enemy is part of The Fire Within, a September Sourel series for women ready to reclaim the wisdom beneath anger. It is a return to the fire as messenger, protector and signal, not as something to be exiled from the soul. Anger may not be the enemy. It may be a protector that has been waiting for a wiser, steadier presence to come close. If you find yourself wanting something to return to between these reflections, in the actual moment a pattern like this one takes hold, I also built an app called Settle and Source. Something Is Not Right

Send us Fan Mail Something Is Not Right There is a moment before anger becomes a reaction. Before the words gather. Before the body moves into defence. Before the mind begins building its case. Something in the body knows first. Something Is Not Right is a Sourel about the quiet inner signal that says, pay attention. Something here does not feel safe, respectful, fair, honest or true. It is for the woman who has been taught to override that knowing, to explain it away, to question herself, or to stay quiet when something within her has already begun to pull back. This reflection invites the listener to honour the first signal inside anger, not as a command, but as a doorway. Sometimes anger is responding to the present moment. Sometimes it is touching an older wound. Sometimes it is both. A tone, a look, a silence, a dismissal, or the feeling of being unseen can stir something ancient in the body. Something Is Not Right offers a sacred pause before response. It asks, what feels not right here. What boundary, truth, need or tenderness is asking not to be ignored. This Sourel does not turn anger into a fight. It returns anger to listening. It invites the feminine body to trust the wisdom of its own signal, while still choosing how to respond with clarity and care. Something Is Not Right is part of The Fire Within, a September Sourel series for women ready to return anger to its sacred place within the feminine. It is a month of listening beneath the heat, where protection, dignity, truth and inner knowing begin to rise from within. Something is not right does not have to become a battle. It can become the moment you stop abandoning what matters. The Fire That Protects

Send us Fan Mail The Fire Within is a September Sourel series for the woman who has been taught to fear her anger, silence her truth, soften her no, or turn her fire back against herself. Across the month, these Sourels gently return anger to its sacred place within the feminine. Not as something to act from blindly, and not as something to shame or exile, but as a living signal that something in her still knows what matters. This is a month of listening to the fire beneath the surface: the boundary, the hurt, the truth, the dignity, the grief, the power, and the light that may have been hidden beneath years of holding everything together. The invitation is not to become angrier. It is to become more deeply connected to the wisdom beneath the anger, so the fire no longer has to burn alone. If you find yourself wanting something to return to between these reflections, in the actual moment a pattern like this one takes hold, I also built an app called Settle and Source. What Comes With You

Send us Fan Mail There is a particular tenderness at the end of a month. A part of you may want a clear conclusion. Something definite to name. Something that says what has changed, what has been learned, and what can now be carried forward. This episode begins more gently than that. What Comes With You is a Sourel about noticing the quiet pieces that have become real enough to travel with you. Not everything. Not perfectly. Not as a promise that life will never feel difficult again. Just one small thread of care, truth, steadiness or kindness that can come with you from here. This reflection explores how change often becomes part of us quietly. A breath before responding. A moment of listening to the body. A kinder way of telling the truth. A softer tone when shame appears. A little more space before the old pattern takes hold. A small act of care placed inside an ordinary day. None of these things may look dramatic from the outside, but they matter because they can travel. They can come with you into the kitchen, the car, the conversation, the evening, the morning, the moment when something familiar calls. They do not require life to be calm before they can be remembered. What Comes With You invites you to choose one thing to carry forward. Not a full plan. Not a list of improvements. One thing. A phrase. A question. A gesture. A permission. A reminder. Something simple enough to remember when life is not simple, and gentle enough that no part of you has to brace against it. This Sourel does not ask for certainty. It does not ask for a grand ending. It simply asks, what comes with me now. What small piece of care has become real enough to keep close. You are not starting from nowhere. Something has been listened to. Something has been learned. Something in you knows the way back a little more gently now. And that can come with you. What Comes With You is the final August Sourel in The Return, a series about living more honestly, more gently and more steadily with what is becoming visible now. It is for the tender space where something in you is ready to be met with less shame and more care. If you find yourself wanting something to return to between these reflections, in the actual moment a habit like this one takes hold, I also built an app called Settle and Source. A Gentle Return

Send us Fan Mail There can be a quiet pressure at the end of a chapter. A part of you may want to know what it all means, what has changed, what still needs attention, and what happens next. This episode begins with a softer question. A Gentle Return is a Sourel about coming back to your life with more of yourself included. Not returning to who you were before. Not forcing yourself into a new version that must now get everything right. But returning with more honesty, more tenderness, more awareness of the body, and more respect for the parts of you that have been trying to help. This reflection explores the rhythm of returning to yourself. We do not come back once and stay there forever. We drift, notice, soften, begin again. That is not failure. It is part of being human. A Gentle Return invites you to carry one small thread forward. Something simple enough to remember when life becomes busy, loud, tender or uncertain. Maybe the awareness that the body speaks before the mind has words. Maybe the understanding that a ritual may have been caring for something real. Maybe the memory that shame does not need to lead the conversation. Maybe the space before choice. Maybe the simple knowledge that one breath can become a doorway back. This episode closes with one gentle practice: welcome one part of yourself back with kindness. The tired part. The guarded part. The part that still reaches. The part that doubts. The part that tries too hard. The part that feels everything, or very little. You do not need to change this part today. You only need to let it know, you are allowed to be here. I do not have to understand you completely to stop turning away from you. A gentle return does not demand a grand conclusion. It simply asks you to keep returning. Not perfectly. Not dramatically. Just gently, again and again. A Gentle Return is part of The Return, an August Sourel series about living more honestly, more gently and more steadily with what is becoming visible now. It is for the tender space where something in you is ready to be met with less shame and more care. Carrying It Into The Day

Send us Fan Mail There is a difference between finding steadiness in a quiet moment and carrying it with you when the day begins to move. The phone rings. A message arrives. Someone needs something. The list gets longer. The body tightens before you have even noticed it. This episode begins in the middle of ordinary life. Carrying It Into the Day is a Sourel about bringing small moments of steadiness into the places where life actually happens. Not only in stillness. Not only in reflection. Not only when everything is calm. But in kitchens, cars, conversations, work, family, emails, errands, meals, noise and all the ordinary moments that ask you to stay connected to yourself while the world keeps moving. This reflection does not ask you to stay calm all day. It does not turn presence into another pressure. Instead, it offers a gentler possibility: to notice when you have drifted from yourself and return in ways that are small enough to fit inside a real day. A breath before answering. A softer hand on the steering wheel. Feeling your feet before opening a message. Letting your shoulders drop while the kettle boils. Pausing before saying yes. Noticing when the voice inside has become sharp. These are not dramatic practices. They are small acts of remembering. Carrying It Into the Day explores how care can become portable. A thread you take with you. A sentence. A gesture. A question. A moment of contact with the body. Something simple enough to return to when life is busy, messy or unfinished. This episode closes with one gentle invitation: choose one ordinary moment in the day and let it become a place of return. Washing your hands. Starting the car. Making a drink. Opening a door. Sitting down to eat. Let that moment remind you to pause, feel the body, and come back by one breath. Carrying it into the day does not require perfection. It only asks for remembrance. One breath. One pause. One ordinary doorway back to yourself. Carrying It Into the Day is part of The Return, an August Sourel series about living more honestly, more gently and more steadily with what is becoming visible now. The Life That Meets You Now

Send us Fan Mail The Life That Meets You Now. In today’s Sourel, we turn towards the ordinary life that is here now. Not a perfect life, not a fully resolved life, but the real life that continues to meet you and invite you into relationship with yourself. Today, I want to talk about the life that meets you now. Not the life you thought you would have by this point. Not the life that exists in your imagination when everything is sorted, healed, calm and clear. The life that is here. The one with dishes in the sink. Messages waiting. A body that has needs. Feelings that arrive at inconvenient times. People who may not always understand. Evenings that still ask something of you. Mornings that begin whether you feel ready or not. This is where change has to live. Not in an ideal future. Not in a version of you that never struggles. Not in a life that has been cleared of difficulty. Here. In the texture of an ordinary day. Sometimes we can imagine that living differently should place us somewhere else. Somewhere quieter. Cleaner. Easier. Somewhere the old triggers no longer appear and the nervous system always knows what to do. But most of the time, life does not rearrange itself perfectly around our healing. It keeps arriving. It keeps asking. It keeps bringing the small pressures, the small disappointments, the small invitations to either leave ourselves or stay a little closer. This is not a failure of the work. This is where the work becomes real. The question is no longer, how do I become someone who is never pulled, never tired, never uncertain, never tempted to disappear from myself. The question becomes, how do I meet the life that is here with a little more honesty, a little more steadiness, a little more care. There may still be moments that feel messy. There may still be days when you feel less resourced than you hoped. There may still be evenings when something familiar calls. There may still be relationships, routines and responsibilities that bring up old feelings. But perhaps now there is also a little more noticing. A little more pause. A little more understanding of what is happening underneath. A little more ability to say, this is hard, and I am still here. The life that meets you now does not need you to perform transformation. It does not need you to prove that you are different in every moment. It does not need you to be impressive. It needs you to be present enough to notice what is actually happening. To recognise when you are tired. To name when you need support. To soften when you hear your inner voice becoming harsh. To remember that one small caring response still matters, even in the middle of an imperfect day. Maybe the invitation now is not to escape ordinary life, but to let ordinary life become the place where your return continues. The kitchen. The car. The bedroom. The walk down the street. The moment before a reply. The quiet after dinner. The first breath before sleep. These are not interruptions to healing. They are the places where healing learns to belong. You do not need to wait for everything to feel calm before you practise staying close to yourself. You do not need to wait until you are certain. You do not need to wait until the day is easy. You can begin in the life that is here, with the body you have, the time you have, the truth you have, the capacity you have today. That may not sound dramatic, but it is deeply important. Because a life is not built only in the moments when everything feels clear. It is built in the moments when you return after drifting. When you pause after reacting. When you choose one kind sentence after a harsh one. When you notice the old pull and do not turn it into a story of failure. When you let the ordinary day hold a small act of care. So today, let the practice be simple. Look at one part of your real life, not the ideal version, the actual one. The part that feels busy, tender, unfinished or ordinary. Ask yourself, how can I meet this with a little more care. Not how can I fix it all. Not how can I become someone else. Just, how can I meet this with a little more care. The answer may be small. A pause before speaking. A glass of water. A clearer boundary. A slower evening. A hand on the chest. Asking for help. Letting one thing wait until tomorrow. One small act of care can change the way you inhabit a moment. And when enough moments are inhabited with care, life begins to feel different from the inside. The life that meets you now may not be perfect. It may not be simple. It may not always feel ready for the person you are becoming. But it is here. And this is where you get to keep returning. Not to an idea of yourself. Not to a performance of progress. But to the ordinary, living truth of this day. Here is where the next breath happens. Here is where the next choice belongs. Here is where care can begin again. Settle and Source: The Podcast is created by Angela M. Sobre
