We also discuss the limitations of using cancel culture and different means of engaging. We center on the importance of doing more than saying a dialogue space is antiracist but working to ensure that it is. We also talk about colonialism and dialogue in questioning how to create a more equitable future.

    What does it mean to be a pragmatic vegan? What does it mean to be a pragmatic person involved in political and social movements? How can movements be accessible to the widest amount of people as possible? How can we better see the needs of others in conversation when their needs are different than ours? In this episode, we discuss the issue with groups prioritizing "purity tests" as a way to get involved. We talk about how purity tests are not pragmatic and how left-leaning politics who are using purity tests are causing a paradigm shift to the right. We also discuss what it means to really see another person in a dialogue and the importance of addressing others needs.

    How does power change the way we communicate with one another? What types of privilege create power disparities? How can we be activists without having access to civil education? How is being civically educated a privilege?  In this episode, we speak about how privilege and access in the forms of education and urban space can create power in dialogues. We also discuss how this power is represented by gatekeeping. We specifically discuss rural versus urban spaces and how urban space correlates to activist culture which is often more absent in rural areas. With a focus on civic education, this episode explains how differences in privilege heighten polarization.

    How can we be in conversation with someone who perceives reality in such a different way than us? How do we create shared language?  In this episode, we speak about how the media is perpetuating polarization and creating different realities. This conversation describes how these different realities make it difficult to have dialogues about issues because it causes folks to not be speaking a shared language. We speak about how using dialogue with an emphasis on empathy can create understanding between people with different beliefs and give an ability to walk alongside others to better approach difficult issues and conversations.
