The Eighth Day: What Is Shemini Atzeret Really About? | Episode #135

The Feast of Sukkot lasts seven days—but then God commands His people to assemble again on the eighth day. Why? Leviticus 23 and Numbers 29 clearly command an eighth-day solemn assembly, yet unlike many of the biblical appointed times, Scripture does not immediately explain what this day commemorates. So how are we supposed to understand it? In this episode, Ryan, Joe, and Sombra dig into the mystery of Shemini Atzeret—the Eighth-Day Assembly. We examine the biblical instructions for Sukkot, the distinction between the seven-day Feast of Booths and the eighth day that follows it, and the recurring significance of the “eighth day” throughout Scripture. Could the eighth day point toward a new beginning? Does it foreshadow what comes after the Messianic Kingdom—the ultimate dwelling of God with His people? And what can Israel’s journey through the wilderness teach us about faith, obedience, trust, and being prepared when God calls His people to move? We also discuss the biblical calendar, following God’s appointed times, the coming restoration of all things, the ten virgins, Israel’s failure to trust Yehovah in the wilderness, and the danger of becoming so accustomed to God’s provision that we begin to take it for granted. What exactly is the eighth day—and what is Yehovah trying to teach us through it? Join us as we search the Scriptures for the meaning behind one of the Bible’s most mysterious appointed assemblies. Sukkot: The Wedding Feast & God’s Plan of Salvation | Episode #134

What if the biblical Holy Days are more than ancient observances? What if they reveal, step by step, the entire plan of salvation? In this episode, Ryan Nall and Joseph Dumond explore the prophetic meaning of Sukkot—the Feast of Tabernacles—and why understanding the appointed times can dramatically change the way we understand the Kingdom of God. Yeshua taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” The biblical story doesn’t ultimately end with God’s people floating away in heaven—it points toward God dwelling with His people and His Kingdom being established on the earth. We trace the prophetic pattern through Passover, Shavuot, the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and finally Sukkot. How do these appointed times portray redemption, judgment, resurrection, the wedding feast, and the coming Kingdom? And could the three pilgrimage feasts point toward a deeper pattern involving resurrection? We also discuss why Sukkot isn’t merely something to study. It’s something to experience—a time to gather, rejoice, eat, fellowship, worship, and learn God’s plan by participating in His appointed time. From the resurrection of Yeshua to the wedding feast and the Kingdom to come, Sukkot may reveal far more about the future than most believers realize. In this episode: Sukkot • Feast of Tabernacles • Biblical Holy Days • God’s Kingdom on Earth • Resurrection • Wedding Feast • Passover • Shavuot • Feast of Trumpets • Day of Atonement • Shemini Atzeret • Prophecy • Yeshua If you enjoyed this conversation, please like, subscribe, and share to help others discover these important discussions on faith, Israel, and biblical truth. Sukkot: Why Would a Christian Keep the Feast of Tabernacles? Episode #133

Why would a Christian today care about Sukkot—the biblical Feast of Tabernacles? In this episode of the Sighted Moon Podcast, Ryan Nall and Joseph Dumond explore one of the most joyful and prophetic feasts found in Scripture. Far from being merely an ancient Jewish tradition, Sukkot is presented in the Bible as a commanded time of rejoicing before Yehovah—a seven-day celebration filled with food, fellowship, remembrance, and prophetic meaning. We begin in Deuteronomy 14, where Israel is instructed to set aside part of its increase, travel to the place where Yehovah placed His name, and use it to rejoice before Him with their household. It presents a side of biblical worship that many Christians rarely hear about: God actually commands His people to celebrate. But Sukkot is about much more than having a feast. We explore its connection to Israel’s deliverance from Egypt and forty years of dwelling in temporary shelters, its imagery of freedom from slavery, and the remarkable parallels between the seven-day feast and the ancient biblical wedding celebration. Then we turn to the prophetic dimension. What does the Tabernacle of David in Amos 9 have to do with the restoration of Israel? Why were an extraordinary 70 bulls sacrificed during Sukkot in Numbers 29? And what is the ancient Jewish understanding connecting those seventy sacrifices with the seventy nations of the world? Sukkot begins as a memorial of Israel’s journey through the wilderness—but its message reaches far beyond the wilderness. Is the Feast of Tabernacles ultimately pointing toward the restoration of Israel, the nations, the Messianic Kingdom, and the great wedding celebration still to come? Join us as we dig into the Scriptures and uncover why Sukkot may be one of the most joyful—and prophetic—appointments on God’s calendar. The Ten Days of Awe: Judgement and Atonement | Episode #132

In this episode of the Sightedmoon Podcast, Ryan Nall and Joseph Dumond explore the ancient and prophetic significance of the Ten Days of Awe—the ten days stretching from the Feast of Trumpets to the Day of Atonement. Why has this period historically been associated with repentance and judgment? What can the biblical fall holy days teach us about the imagery found in Daniel and Revelation? And perhaps most importantly, why should a believer in Yeshua observe Yom Kippur if the Messiah has already made atonement for sin? Ryan and Joseph examine the themes of judgment, repentance, forgiveness, and atonement found throughout Scripture, connecting Leviticus 16 and 23 with the prophetic imagery of Revelation. They also discuss traditions surrounding the Ten Days of Awe, the symbolism of the number ten, the judgment of Satan, and the importance of understanding Revelation through the framework of the Torah and the biblical holy days. The conversation ultimately leads to the Messiah himself: What does Yom Kippur reveal about Yeshua, and how does the Day of Atonement fit into the larger prophetic plan of God? Join us as we examine the biblical foundations behind the Ten Days of Awe and consider why these ancient appointed times may still have profound meaning for followers of Messiah today. Living with an Unconverted Spouse | Episode #131

What do you do when your understanding of Scripture begins to change, but your spouse remains where they are? On this episode of the Sighted Moon Podcast, Ryan Nall and Joseph Dumond tackle the difficult subject of living with an unconverted mate. Joseph speaks from more than four decades of personal experience as his journey into the Sabbath, Torah, and a different understanding of the Bible took him down a spiritual path his wife did not share. Joseph also looks back at the mistakes he made along the way. In his early zeal, he sometimes tried to force change rather than patiently allowing his family to understand what he was learning. One memorable example came when he learned about the origins of Christmas and responded by dragging the family Christmas tree out of the house and throwing it into a snowbank. Rather than bringing his wife closer to his convictions, actions like these created even greater division. Through years of marital struggles, separation, reconciliation, and hard-earned lessons, the conversation explores an important distinction: knowing that your belief is right doesn’t automatically mean you’re handling the situation rightly. How does a believing husband lead a wife who doesn’t share his convictions? What does this look like when the believing spouse is the wife? And how should parents handle children who are living between two very different religious perspectives? Ryan and Joseph examine biblical principles for remaining faithful to your convictions while also protecting your marriage from unnecessary conflict. At the heart of the discussion is a question many believers eventually face: How do you faithfully walk the path God has shown you when your spouse isn’t walking beside you? The answer may have far less to do with forcing someone to follow—and much more to do with learning what Scripture means when it says to “go in peace.” If you enjoyed this conversation, please like, subscribe, and share to help others discover these important discussions on faith, Israel, and biblical truth. The Darkness Where God Was: From Mount Sinai to the Cross | Episode #130

Why did darkness cover the land for three hours while Yeshua hung on the tree—and why did it happen at the very time of day when the sun should have been shining brightest? In this episode of the Sighted Moon Podcast, Ryan and Joseph Dumond begin a deep study into one of the Bible’s most fascinating and recurring themes: darkness and the presence of God. At Mount Sinai, Moses entered into the “thick darkness where God was.” At the crucifixion, darkness covered the land from the sixth hour until the ninth hour, immediately before Yeshua cried out the opening words of Psalm 22: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Was this darkness caused by a solar eclipse? The astronomical circumstances surrounding Passover make that explanation extraordinarily difficult: Passover occurs near a full moon, while a solar eclipse requires a new moon positioned between the earth and the sun. And no ordinary eclipse could account for three hours of darkness. But the mystery goes much deeper. What if the darkness at the crucifixion was not simply the absence of light? What if it connects Yeshua’s death to Sinai, Passover, the Day of Atonement, Psalm 22, and other moments throughout Scripture when darkness accompanies the presence and judgment of God? Join us as we begin tracing this remarkable theme through Scripture and ask what the darkness surrounding Yeshua’s death was really meant to reveal. Feast of Trumpets: The Calendar Controversy and God’s Holy Days | Episode #129

Is the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah) simply a Jewish tradition, or does it reveal the return of the Messiah? In this episode, Joseph Dumond and Ryan Nall explore the prophetic significance of Leviticus 23 and Numbers 29, showing how the Fall Holy Days point directly to the second coming of Yeshua. They discuss why understanding the biblical festivals is essential for understanding the Messiah—and why missing these appointed times can cause believers to overlook some of the Bible’s most profound prophetic truths. The conversation then turns to one of the most debated topics in Torah observance: How do you determine the first day of the seventh month? Was the biblical calendar based on the visible crescent moon, or should believers follow the fixed Hillel calendar used throughout much of Judaism today? Joseph explains: Why every biblical feast centers on the Messiah. How Passover foreshadowed Yeshua’s first coming—and why Yom Teruah foreshadows His return. The connection between the Feast of Trumpets, the Ten Days of Awe, and Yom Kippur. The meaning of repentance (teshuvah) and returning (shuv). The history of the Hillel calendar and why it was created during the Jewish diaspora. The development of the postponement rules (deḥiyyot) and how the calendar evolved over centuries. Why the Karaites continued observing the visible crescent moon while Rabbinic Judaism adopted a calculated calendar. Why this calendar debate matters for anyone seeking to observe God’s appointed times according to Scripture. Whether you’re new to the biblical feasts or have studied them for years, this episode provides historical context, biblical insight, and practical discussion on one of Torah’s most important—and controversial—subjects. Topics Covered: Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah) Leviticus 23 & Numbers 29 The Second Coming of Yeshua The Biblical Calendar Crescent Moon vs. Hillel Calendar Ten Days of Awe Yom Kippur Teshuvah & Repentance Karaite vs. Rabbinic Calendar Biblical Prophecy and the Appointed Times If this teaching blesses you, please consider supporting the ministry through the Buy Me a Coffee link below. Boots on the Ground: An IDF Soldier’s Story of Faith and War | Episode #128

In this powerful episode of the Sightedmoon Podcast, host Ryan Nall and co-host Joseph Dumond sit down with Yair Pinto—an Israeli Defense Forces officer, journalist, husband, father of three, and Jewish believer in Yeshua (Jesus). Yair shares his firsthand experiences serving on the front lines following the October 7 Hamas attacks, searching terror tunnels in Gaza, defending Israel’s northern border, and balancing the responsibilities of military service with raising a young family. He offers a deeply personal look into what it means to repeatedly leave home, knowing his children may not understand why their father must go to war. The conversation also explores one of the most difficult questions believers wrestle with: How can a follower of Jesus serve as a soldier? Yair explains how he reconciles Yeshua’s teaching to “turn the other cheek” with the biblical responsibility to defend innocent lives. Rather than promoting hatred, he speaks passionately about praying for Israel’s enemies, believing God can transform hearts—even in places like Iran where many are coming to faith despite persecution. This interview is an honest, thoughtful discussion about faith, sacrifice, fatherhood, and trusting God in the darkest moments. In This Episode: Yair Pinto’s experience as an IDF officer after October 7 The emotional challenge of leaving his wife and young children for combat The inspiration behind his new book, Boots on the Ground Why he believes defending Israel is compatible with following Yeshua What “turn the other cheek” really means in the context of national defense Praying for enemies while standing against terrorism How God builds faith during seasons of war and uncertainty Link to Yair’s new book: https://www.advbookstore.com/product-page/boots-on-the-ground Visit SightedMoon.com to explore more biblical resources, podcast episodes, and sign up for our newsletter.
