This podcast!! I couldn’t turn it off. Important stories and details, fascinating twists - and it’s true. Insane.

Addictive but trashy

I listened to most of the first season. It's a fascinating story but in the end, after all this build-up, it's kind of disappointing. The positive: it's a good cautionary tale about the signs of a sociopath in general. The negative: The "crazy ex" featured seems like a sociopath for sure, but the last several episodes turn into the "gilted bride" being kind of obsessed with his life post-breakup. The host and gilted bride seem to kind of digitally stalk him! Not conducive to healing, imho. Not checking out the 2nd season. What could have been an interesting 5 episode story in the 1st season was dragged out essentially into 14, gossipy drama sessions. I get what the creator was going for, and that's a great idea, the result lacks substance.

Affirming

Over a year after my own failed engagement with an emotionally abusive person, I still question myself about if what he felt was real. I have very supportive parents, friends, and now, a wonderful boyfriend, but, as anyone who has been in this situation can tell you, it’s not easy to heal from the damage these people inflict. This podcast has really given me a sense of sisterhood and solidarity. I didn’t realize how many wonderful, strong women fall into these terrible games, at no fault of their own. Some people often question me when I tell my story. “But you’re such a strong person,” and, “how could you let that happen?” And “weren’t there red flags?” How wonderful of you women to share your stories and how helpful to many others.
