    What If Flexibility Is A Spiritual Discipline

    A closed highway can reveal what we really worship: comfort, control, or trust. After a Sunday that starts with joy at church, a simple drive home turns into a five-hour detour caused by nearby forest fires and massive traffic backups. By the time I finally walk through the door, I’m exhausted, frustrated, and convinced I have every right to be grumpy.  Then one word keeps cutting through the noise: flexible. I talk through what it looks like to loosen my grip on my timetable, my preferences, and even my small “deserved” rewards, and to choose peace when the situation won’t change. If you’ve ever felt your mood hinge on delays, canceled plans, or unexpected obstacles, you’ll recognize the battle instantly.  This episode originally aired on September 13, 2022, during one of the worst fire seasons in British Columbia and Washington State.  Until this year...     Big Rocks First

    Your life can feel completely full and still be missing what matters most. Today I share a quick story from a high school classroom that has stuck with me for years: a teacher, a glass jar, and a lesson that exposes how easily we let small distractions crowd out our deepest priorities. We walk through the “big rocks” metaphor step by step, from large stones to sand to water, and I explain why the order matters more than the volume. When we fill our days with the inconsequential first, there is no space left for the commitments that actually shape our character, our relationships, and our direction. This is practical time management, but it is also something deeper than productivity. I also connect the illustration to a spiritual truth rooted in Matthew 6:33: seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. When our relationship with Jesus Christ becomes the first priority, it changes how everything else settles into place, including the things we all want more of like peace, purpose, healing, and healthy relationships.     God is Good

    Some mornings hit hard before you even finish your coffee. If you’ve been wondering how to reconcile a good God with a painful week, this one is for you.     Nothing Too Hard For God

    Some mornings, the hardest part is not the problem itself, it’s the quiet thought that God won’t show up for you. Maybe you’ve prayed before and nothing changed. Maybe you feel disqualified by your past, worn down by stress, or convinced you waited too long for anything to turn around. I want to meet that feeling with one sharp question from Scripture that still has power today: “Is anything too hard for the Lord?”  We go back to Genesis 18 and sit in the tension with Abraham and Sarah. They receive a promise that sounds impossible, and Sarah does what many of us do when hope feels risky: she laughs. Not because she’s cruel or faithless, but because her circumstances look final. We talk about why the Bible’s honesty about flawed people is such good news, and how God’s promises are not limited by age, weakness, or the fear that you “don’t deserve” an answer to prayer.  Then we bring it home to real life: the tight spot you’re in, the burden you can’t solve, the place where you’ve started to talk yourself out of praying. I share a simple encouragement for the week: take the thing you can’t see an answer for and bring it back to God, believing again.
