Episode 306 - Greg Doroski, Greenport Harbor Brewing

Happy Monday, Thieves! Our friend Greg Doroski is on the show this week. Greg's one of those guys we've known since the beginning, was on an early episode of the podcast, and we'd kind of lost touch with over the last few years. Why? Because he moved out of Brooklyn after leaving Threes Brewing to settle back into family life on the North Fork of Long Island. We haven't talked to him in a minute so it was tons of fun catching up. He's back at Greenport Harbor now, where he started off, and is doing a lot of cool things there. We may have even planted the seeds for an upcoming Carton-Greenport Harbor collab live on the show. Tune in and hear all about it!

Episode 305 - David Walker, Firestone Walker Brewing

Happy Monday, Thieves! We have our old friend David Walker back on the show this week to talk about the brewery’s 25th Anniversary. David was gracious enough to ship us some Firestone Walker beers, including the always amazing DBA Double Barrel Ale which we explore in detail. We also talk about the famed Wookey Jack and how it set the standard for the once revered but now nearly extinct Black IPA. David plays along with the black glasses with a couple of throw-back styles from David’s peers. It was a fun show and always great chatting with the British half of Firestone Walker. Tune in and let us know what you think!

Episode 304 - Hillary Barile, Rabbit Hill Farms Malting

Happy Monday, Thieves! We’re keeping local in the Garden State this week with a call-in from our friend Hillary Barile of Rabbit Hill Farms Malting in Cumberland County. Hillary supplies malt to many of Jersey’s best breweries so we wanted to get her on the show to talk about the evolution of craft malting right here in our backyard. She was even generous enough to ship all four of us beers for the blind tasting, both of which we all enjoyed immensely. It was an overall fun show and hope you enjoy the conversation and conviviality. Tune in and let us know what you think!

Episode 303 - Bill Wesselink & Hagen Dost, Dovetail Brewery

    Happy Monday, Thieves!
Is it a little smoky in here? This week we're welcoming in Hagen Dost & Bill Wesselink of Dovetail Brewery in Chicago to talk about their love of rauchbiers and their very awesome coolship, which they use for all of their beers. The duo met in brewing school and for the last several years have turned Dovetail into a destination for beer fans far and wide. They specialize in lagers, and have begun sending their beer out of state to thirsty patrons. From talking about how the pandemic has affected their business, to the unique flavors that arrive in their beers via the CTA's Brown Line, these two brewers have a healthy respect for tradition but are also bringing good humor to the beer scene.
Justin pulled out some great bottles from his bodega (buy a tote bag) and we had some real fun with the black glass. Tune in and let us know what you think!

Episode 302 - Evan Price, Green Cheek Beer Co.

Happy Monday, Thieves! We’re phoning into warmer climes this week with Evan Price of Orange County, California's Green Cheek Beer Co. We talk a while about the frustrations of ever-changing pandemic restrictions in LA and Southern California and how Evan and his team have tried their best to keep up with the cycles of shutting down and reopening over and over. We have a fun discussion of the blind beers (yes, Justin got them to everyone this week #2021JUSTIN) and geek out a little on water profiles for West Coast vs. New England IPA's. All in all, we had a great time chatting with Evan and think you'll enjoy the listen. Tune in and let us know what you think!

Episode 301 - Jeff Alworth is back for 2021

Happy MLK Day, Thieves! We’re three episodes into the new year so we thought it was about time to get Jeff Alworth back on the show to help us digest 2020 and look forward to the remainder of 2021. Jeff talks us through some major changes that happened in his city of Portland, Oregon, last year including the shuttering of more than one of PDX’s legacy breweries. We talk about the reasons for those and why he’s hopeful that 2021 will be a better year for beer. Tune in and let us know what you think!

It’s great to invite John and Augie, Brian and Cass (and their guests) into my day every Monday for an often irreverent, ever amusing discussion of all things beer.

As it were!

My weekly, slightly inebriated, masterclass in beer tasting! Love hearing the brewers chop it up about ingredients and processes. I listen for John Holl to say "as it were" (on all his podcasts) lol!!! I think he needs to do a new podcast by that title and just talk about whatever. Then he'll have 15 podcasts that he hosts. Keep up the good work, y’allz!

Aaron Colvin ,

Awesome!

A real down to earth conversation about beer! One of the things I look forward to every week! Cheers to the STB crew!
