New Year Same You Just Upleveled
On this week’s episode of the Style Masterclass Podcast, I want to send you some love before you get bombarded with the “new year, new you” madness. While yes, we are entering a new year, you’re still you. Let’s start with loving yourself first.
You don’t have to hustle for your self worth. Why you should do things for the sheer love of it. Advocating for self-care and self-love does not exclude other health related goals. What if instead of the new year over exercising and over-dieting, you just love yourself crazy fiercely just as you are? Can you move loving yourself to the top of your to-do list and let everything else stem from there?
Shit My Mama Said Series: Earrings and Purses
On this week’s episode of the Style Masterclass Podcast, I have the second episode of the Shit My Mama Said Series. It’s all about earrings, purses, and so much more, with a very special guest, Chernique.
How “style rules” we heard when we were little are still playing out as adult women. How we’ve taken “Shit our mama said” and used it in our lives today. Being an introvert doesn’t mean you’re sad and depressed. Chernique helps ambitious introverts leverage their innate superpowers to navigate a loud ass world. With a focus on energy management, she empowers them to create success authentically and with quiet gumption. Chernique is a double certified life coach (Feminist Coach and The Life Coach School). Take some time to reflect on this year with these prompts and give yourself credit for everything you’ve accomplished. Get ready to enter into this new phase of your life as the woman that owns every curve and room she enters, we’re ready for you.
Holiday Soiree Part 3 - Five Style Lessons
On this week’s episode of the Style Masterclass Podcast, we’re continuing our Holiday Soiree series with five style lessons I learned in 2021. Whatever your style (or other) lessons were this year, remind yourself of how truly resilient you really are.
The importance of articulating what you want. How to tap into your resilience and knowledge when things go wrong. Why I’m embracing curiosity as I age. We celebrate style fails around here. We’re learning from the lessons and we get to take that knowledge with us every time.
Shit My Mama Said - Beauty is Not Pain
On this week’s episode of the Style Masterclass Podcast, we’re starting a bonus series called “Shit My Mama Said”. I realized that part of women’s history with their bodies really comes from their formative years and quippy sayings that have had profound effects that are still playing out today. I’ve invited some incredible coaches to bring this conversation to you, today it’s the incredible coach, Amber Taylor.
There are ways to reframe what you’re told. How to focus on what YOU want. Why no amount of pain is going to make you feel beautiful What do you think of the “beauty is pain” phrase? Did you hear this growing up? If this is still playing out in your life today, it’s time to reframe this way of thinking.
Amber, The Black Pleasure Coach, is a double certified life coach (LCS Professional Certified Coach and Feminist Coach) and author who took the leap from Corporate America to entrepreneurship to dedicate her time creating space to empower other Black women to level up their lives without over reliance on the trope of strength and resiliency. She specializes in teaching women to be comfortable as their most authentic selves in every space they enter through the revolutionary act of prioritizing their own pleasure.

Conquer and Slay!
I wish I had found Miss J and her podcast years ago. Judith‘s enthusiasm and genuine care and concern for helping women look and FEEL their best comes through so powerfully in every episode. I adore that what she really does is help you reprogram your negative inner monologue but this is disguised as overhauling (or maybe just making small changes in) your wardrobe. Not that changing the clothing you present yourself to the world in isn’t a big deal, but the much bigger deal is changing your thoughts about yourself and your perspective on yourself and your life so that leveling up your clothing not only becomes much easier, but maybe even becomes the default at some point. You eventually get to a point where you don’t *want* to wear your “janky” undies anymore. You deserve better, and you’re willing to spend a few extra bucks (if able) to do better. I only discovered Miss J a few months ago but I’ve made my way through all the podcast episodes from the beginning, and there are a few that I’ve found myself listening to over and over because they never get old and they just really resonate with me. (I would tell you which ones they are, but honestly, other ones might speak to you more. Totally an individual thing!) Beauty is not a size, weight, or age. It’s an attitude that comes from inside. Thank you, Judith Gaton! 💛
I adore Miss J
