Aging and Embracing Our Inner Señora
The latest Tamarindo episode is about learning how to embrace our inner señora. We explore how aging and ageism is reflected in society, unpack the harmful messages especially women receive around getting older, and share ways we can all work on our relationship with aging whether we’re 25, 35, or over 50. Healing our communities is an intergenerational job y’all!
We reference a report from AARP on Latinx attitudes on aging you can read more about here, some data on retirement trends among Latinos here and a report on age related workplace discrimination that you can read about here.

Mónica Ramírez Inspires Us to Step Up our Activism
We speak to Mónica Ramírez, attorney, author and activist, about what motivates her to do more than enough (a lot more than enough!) to stand up for migrant women and her community. She is the founder of Justice for Migrant Women and co-founder of Alianza Nacional de Campesinas, The Latinx House, and Poderistas, and an overall badass!
Trigger Warning: This episode talks about sexual violence. Below is a list of resources for anyone that may need support:

Before we speak to Mónica, we catch up on the latest in Latinx chisme. We reference this think piece that does an excellent job of recapping the Flamin’ Hot Cheetoh’s controversy over the creator of the loved snack. Note, that since we recorded, this is the latest on the Flamin' Hot saga. We also suggest Brenda’s piece on Hip Latina about the upcoming Black-ish spinoff, Brown-ish.

Advocating for Transgender Rights is about Leading with Love
On this episode of Tamarindo, we are joined by Lizette Trujillo, mom and community advocate for transgender youth and families. She shares how raising her trans son has changed her life and how leading with love made her into the fierce advocate and activist she is today. This powerful conversation happens as hundreds of heartbreaking anti trans bills are being passed across the country and our trans community are being denied basic human rights. You can learn more about the importance of allyship on Lizette's podcast "I Stand by You with Lizette and Drew".

Customer Reviews
Finally a podcast for me
As a Mexican woman with DACA I’m so glad to have found this wonderful podcast with such great hosts that keep me up to date on relevant issues. I recommended it to my younger sisters as well. My fav is the matraca/basura segment :)
Nothing but Love
I’m so thankful that I came across this podcast a couple of years ago. I have listened to every single episode and the show has always brought me joy. Brenda’s personality is truly therapeutic! She is direct, funny and unforgiving when something unjust is going on in the world. I am often able to process my own feelings through Brenda’s words and I love her for those moments. I also admire the humility that both Brenda and Ana Sheila carry themselves with. If God would have granted me some sisters like them!
Topics
My mother discovered this podcast and suggested for Me to listen to it! I am 2nd generation Mexican-American and topics of these podcasts resonated so much to me and my mother! I love Tamarindo Podcast!! 🤩🙌🏼❤️
