    Florida bans lab-grown meat.

Florida’s ban on lab-grown meat. On Wednesday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill that bans lab-grown meat in the state, describing the bill as an effort to "save our beef" and protect cattle ranchers. The bill, S.B. 1084, made it unlawful to "manufacture for sale, sell, hold or offer for sale, or distribute cultivated meat."

    The NPR controversy.

    The NPR controversy.

The NPR controversy. On April 9, National Public Radio's longtime business editor Uri Berliner published an essay in The Free Press titled "I've Been at NPR for Over 25 Years. Here's How We Lost America's Trust." Berliner detailed his experience at the network, castigating it for a leftward lurch that has left many of its longtime listeners disenchanted and moving on to other news sources.

    SCOTUS hears Trump's immunity case.

    SCOTUS hears Trump's immunity case.

Trump's immunity case. On Thursday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Trump v. United States. During arguments, the court appeared ready to side at least partially with former President Donald Trump's lawyers, who argued he has absolute immunity from criminal charges for acts taken in his official capacity as president.

Reminder: The case stems from Special Counsel Jack Smith's investigation into Trump for alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election. As part of his defense against those federal charges, Trump has argued that he cannot be prosecuted for actions that were part of his responsibilities as president nor for actions he was already impeached for but not convicted of. A federal appeals court rejected those arguments, and Trump appealed the case to the Supreme Court.

We've covered this case here and here.

Fantastic. Should be in the top ten podcasts.

This podcast is well done and gives perspectives about subjects from all sides. The podcast needs to advertise on other podcasts so more listeners can find out about it. It's a hidden gem.

The Undecideds

I love Tangle generally, but the Undecideds episodes have been a bit of a disappointment. They’re interesting, but I would prefer more probing questions, more background analysis, and more comparisons among undecided voters, vs just letting them talk. Compare with The Run-Up.

This is what journalism should be

Isaac does deeper-dive analyses on one major headline each day, presenting facts, known liberal and conservative spin, and his own opinion where he acknowledges his own biases. It has made me feel like I have the full context in about 10-20 minutes. Tangle is overall just rational. While I don’t always agree with Isaac’s Take, I always respect where he is coming from and understand his logic. 10/10. Recommend.
