    "On to the Playoffs!"

    "On to the Playoffs!"

Gov. Greg Abbott significantly moved the Texas House in his direction on school vouchers during this week's GOP primary election. But the fight is far from over. "On to the playoffs!" said Abbott's chief political strategist, referring to the runoff elections including Speaker Dade Phelan's fight for political survival. Plus, Texas' abortion restrictions took center stage at President Biden's State of the Union address. "This is a War"

In his fight for reelection, Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan this past week said "this is a war" and was joined at a Port Arthur rally by one of the biggest names in this state's GOP politics for backup: Gov. Rick Perry, who took a swipe at Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. We were on the scene. Plus, Jeremy's got exclusive one-on-one interviews with the top Democrats running for a chance to take on Sen. Unbiased and informative!

Finally a political podcast that shares factual news and opinions. Bipartisan and for both sides of the spectrum.

Great insight

I really look forward to new episodes from Scott and Jeremy. When something happens Texas, I can’t wait to hear their take on it and hear the behind the scenes discussions.

You’re hard to love, you don’t make it easy.

Updated November 2023: I can barely listen anymore. It’s just out-of-touch, liberal, white, male hosts calling out-of-touch, conservative, white, male politicians racist. Sigh.

“A republic, if you can keep it,” indeed.

Original Review: I listen to this because it focuses on Texas politics and let’s be honest: Texas politics is niche. Texas politics does not draw the country’s top journalists to cover it on a consistent basis, and Scott and Jeremy do a pretty competent job reporting the important stories in an approachable, conversational way. I give them credit for that. My struggle with this program is the smug, under-informed tone of it. It blatantly (almost gleefully) oversimplifies complex debates, conversations, and problems. And coming from a non-partisan standpoint, it feels anti-conservative. That may simply be because Republicans hold the majority in Texas, (so why would you go after Democrats?), but it gives the show a partisan feel that I’d sooner do without. (I prefer “just the facts.”) Also, Jeremy says “ya know” so frequently it’s distracting. I hate to mention that because I’m sure he’s a nice person, but if he’s paid to speak on the radio, you’d think Scott might bother to give a bit of feedback or offer a few hours of coaching on it. Long story short, these old white guys (surprise, surprise) aren’t bad at their jobs and I listen because it’s what’s available. But if there were competition against this podcast, I’d happily let the competition compete for my listen.
