The Cinnamon Effect - Supporting Women's Health, Emotional Resilience and Personal Growth

Kimberly Hand - Wellness Lifestyle Expert, Mom, Over 40

I created The Cinnamon Effect for the woman rebuilding herself — the one navigating change, searching for clarity, and learning how to move forward with intention. I’m Kimberly Hand, and this podcast is where we talk about what you’re really going through — emotional healing, personal reinvention, motherhood, midlife shifts, wellness, and the quiet moments where everything starts to change. Because personal reinvention is available at any stage of life, and sometimes the smallest, most intentional choices create the biggest transformation. The Cinnamon Effect is also my philosophy on life. Just like a small sprinkle of cinnamon can completely transform something simple, I believe small, intentional choices create meaningful change. When we focus on progress over perfection, clarity creates momentum — and those small shifts begin to shape a more vibrant, aligned life. Here, I believe in progress over perfection. I believe clarity creates momentum. And I believe that when women understand what they’re navigating, they can move forward with more confidence, better health, and a deeper sense of purpose. On The Cinnamon Effect, I share conversations with experts, thought leaders, and women who are walking their own healing journey — along with solo episodes where I share the tools, daily rituals, and wellness habits that have helped me and so many others live more intentionally. We talk about women’s health, holistic wellness, emotional healing, feminine energy, self-confidence, motherhood, relationships, and building a magnetic presence from the inside out. This is a space for growth, for reflection, and for becoming the healthiest, most aligned version of yourself — one small, intentional step at a time. If you’re in a season of change… If you’re rediscovering who you are… If you’re ready to live with more clarity, confidence, and intention… You’re in the right place. This is The Cinnamon Effect — for the woman rebuilding herself. Coping with Grief After Losing a Loved One: How to Find Peace, Hope, and Healing After Loss with Marie Crews

Grief has a way of changing everything. It can shift how we see time, relationships, faith, healing, and even ourselves. And while grief is one of the most universal human experiences, it is also one of the hardest things to talk about honestly. In this episode, I’m joined by Marie Crews, a certified grief guide and life coach, for a heartfelt conversation about grief, grief support, and healing after losing a loved one. Marie shares part of her story of losing both her mother and her son in a short period of time, and how those losses reshaped the way she sees life, love, spirituality, and purpose. Together, we talk about coping with grief, what life after loss can really look like, and why grief healing does not mean pretending the pain is gone. Marie also shares how journaling for healing became a powerful part of her own journey, and how she now uses that work to support other women, especially mothers walking through child loss and deep emotional healing. In this episode, you’ll learn: - Why grief is not something we simply “get over” - How losing a parent or losing a loved one can change the way we see life - Why mother grief and child loss carry layers that are hard to put into words - What coping with grief can look like when the pain still feels fresh - How spirituality can bring comfort, meaning, and hope in the midst of grief - Why journaling for healing can help you process emotions more honestly - How to help someone grieving without feeling like you need to have all the right answers - Why memories, signs, and connection can bring comfort after loss - How pain, peace, and purpose can coexist as part of grief healing This episode is for anyone who has experienced grief, loves someone who is grieving, or wants to better understand how to hold space for life’s hardest moments. My hope is that this conversation reminds you that even when life looks completely different than you imagined, you are not alone and healing is still possible. Is Your Mouth Making You Sick? What Biological Dentistry Reveals About Hidden Infections, Hormones, and Whole-Body Health With Dr. Ilona Fotek

Did you know that a dental issue could be affecting more than just your teeth? In this episode, Dr. Ilona Fotek is back on the podcast for a deeper conversation about the connection between oral health and whole body wellness. We dive into some of the most talked-about topics in holistic dentistry, including cavitations, root canals, dental implants, oral bacteria, and why your mouth may be telling you more about your health than you realize. We also explore how factors like nutrition, immune health, pregnancy, childhood development, and even breastfeeding can play a role in oral health. Dr. Fotek shares her unique whole-body approach to dentistry and explains why she believes every treatment decision should be personalized. In this episode, you'll learn: - What is cavitation and why many people don't know they have them - Why root canals remain one of the most debated topics in dentistry - The surprising ways dental health may influence overall wellness - How biological dentists evaluate patients differently - The pros and cons of zirconia and titanium implants - What saliva testing can reveal about your whole body health - Why some dental problems may be linked to immune function and inflammation - How pregnancy can impact your teeth and oral health - The role nutrition, vitamins, and lifestyle play in maintaining a healthy mouth - Why airway development in children matters more than most parents realize - What tongue ties, jaw growth, and breathing patterns may have to do with lifelong health - How breastfeeding supports oral development and overall wellness - Why Dr. Fotek believes dentistry should focus on the whole person, not just the teeth This conversation challenged a lot of what I thought I knew about dental care and reminded me that our bodies are far more connected than we often realize. Trying Something New in Patagonia: How Hunting With My Husband Changed My Marriage, Perspective, and Personal Growth

I never thought a hunting trip would teach me so much about my marriage. After 22 years with my husband, I finally joined him on a real trip hunting in Patagonia. I went in unsure, a little nervous, and very much stepping outside my comfort zone. I thought I was simply tagging along for his adventure, but what I came home with was a completely new perspective on him, our relationship, nature, masculine energy, feminine energy, and what happens when we say yes to trying something new. This trip pushed me, surprised me, and reminded me that sometimes the experiences we resist the most are the ones that open us up in the biggest ways. It became a lesson in marriage, personal growth, and supporting your partner in something they truly love. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why I finally said yes to going on a hunting trip with my husbandWhat it was really like staying at a hunting and fly-fishing lodge in PatagoniaHow being in nature shifted something in meWhat I noticed when I saw my husband fully in his elementWhy trying something new with your partner can change the way you see themHow stepping outside your comfort zone can strengthen your relationshipWhat this trip taught me about masculine energy and feminine energyWhy unfamiliar experiences can become a powerful doorway to personal growthThis episode is for anyone who has ever resisted their partner’s hobbies, felt stuck in routine, or needed a reminder that growth often starts with trying something new and supporting your partner with an open heart. What 45 Taught Me: How to Stop Overthinking, Build Real Confidence and Expand Your Life with Kimberly Hand

Turning 46 felt different. Not because of the number, but because of what the year before it quietly handed me - six raw, honest, life-changing lessons that I'm still sitting with. In this episode, I'm opening up about the most transformative insights from my 45th year - the kind that don't come from a book or a course, but from actually living. If you've ever felt stuck, scared, or like you're spinning your wheels without actually moving forward, this one is for you. Here's what we're unpacking: 🔓 The cage door isn't locked - The thing holding you back might not be a barrier at all. I'll share how I realized I had more freedom than I ever gave myself credit for - and why we stay in cages we could walk out of any time. ✅ Do it anyway - Waiting to feel ready is the longest wait of your life. This year taught me that action doesn't require permission from your feelings. 🧠 Overthinking is just fear dressed up as productivity - If you've ever spent hours "researching" instead of doing, this will hit home. I break down how I finally caught myself in this pattern and what I did to interrupt it. 💪 Courage comes first, confidence comes later - We have it backwards. Confidence isn't what gives you courage - it's what follows it. This mindset shift changed everything about how I approach new challenges. 🌱 You can expand without starting over - Growth doesn't have to mean burning it all down. I talk about how I learned to build on what already exists rather than constantly chasing a clean slate. 🏡 Your environment is either supporting you or draining you - There's no neutral. From the people around you to the physical spaces you inhabit, I share how auditing my environment became one of the most powerful things I did this year. Whether you're approaching a milestone birthday, navigating a major life transition, or simply craving a more intentional life, these lessons are ones I wish someone had handed me years ago. 5. Dance Competition Recap: Saying Yes to Opportunities and Expanding Your Life

Dance Competition Recap: Saying Yes to Opportunities and Expanding Your Life

The night is done, the scores are in, and I have so much to share with you. If you’ve been following along on the Broadway Ballroom Battle journey, this episode is your full update - the real, honest recap of everything that happened. A few weeks ago, I shared in Episode 124 Link here why I said yes to competing in the Broadway Ballroom Battle - a charity ballroom dance competition supporting the Goldner Conservatory at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre and the next generation of young performers. Today, I’m back with the full recap. I’m walking you through what the days leading up to the competition actually felt like, the unexpected things that came up along the way and how I worked through them, and what it meant to step on that dance floor and give it everything I had. I also talk about what it was like being coached by the professionals at Fred Astaire Dance Studios - and yes, I get to share some really exciting news - I walked away with Top Audience Favorite and Top Ballroom Star, which still feels surreal to say out loud. But more than the awards, this experience reminded me of something I talk about a lot here on The Cinnamon Effect: real growth happens when we say yes to the uncomfortable things, when we show up even when we’re nervous, and when we trust the process. This was that, fully lived out. In this episode I’m sharing: • What the nerves really looked like in the days before competition night • The unexpected moments I didn’t see coming - and how I handled them • Why doing hard things is one of the most powerful tools for personal growth and overall wellness • What winning Top Audience Favorite and Top Ballroom Star meant to me • The bigger takeaway I’m carrying forward - and what I hope it sparks in you Thank you for cheering me on through every step of this journey. I felt every bit of your support, and I couldn’t wait to come back here and share this with you. Let’s get into it.

What Your Mouth Is Revealing About Your Health with Holistic and Biological Dentist Dr. Ilona Fotek

In this episode of The Cinnamon Effect podcast, I sit down with holistic and biological dentist Dr. Ilona Fotek - an internationally recognized leader in cosmetic and biologic restorative dentistry with two decades of clinical expertise. We talk about something I don’t think we pay enough attention to: how deeply your oral health is connected to your entire body. This conversation completely shifted my perspective. We talk about how what’s going on in your mouth can impact everything from inflammation to gut health to chronic issues- and how biological dentistry looks at the whole person, not just your teeth. Dr. Fotek breaks down why your mouth can be an early signal for what’s happening elsewhere in your body, and why so many people are missing this piece when it comes to their health. Of course, I asked her for specifics. We get into the toothpaste she actually recommends, what to look for (and avoid) in floss, and the simple daily routines that can make a real difference - like tongue scraping and oil pulling. This is one of those conversations that makes you rethink what “taking care of yourself” actually means. If you’ve been doing all the right things but still feel like something is off, this episode might connect a few dots.
