#274 Chopping it up with Corey Powell | 3-year official & NCAA Division 3 Player

Corey Powell is an active division 3 basketball player and a 3-year official from Long Island. Corey is also part of the Crown Refs Mentor Community and has big aspirations to go way further as a ref than as a player. ⁣

We recently worked a few 3-person games together for the first time and had a chance to break down a few plays immediately after. We discussed some dead-ball game management tips, how to have your partners back, and not letting any previous game history hold us back in the current one. ⁣
Corey also shared some of his positive feelings about our private platforms and what he appreciates most about being a part of the Crown Refs Mentor Community!⁣

#273 Powered by Positivity | Big Game Officials Camp

#273 Powered by Positivity | Big Game Officials Camp

This episode is all about mindset, perspective, and the importance of finding your true inner happiness. This was a recent presentation for Sara Woods and the great people from the Big Game Officials Camp in St. Louis. ⁣

We covered 4 key traits that can lead to happiness on and off the court: Perspective, Positivity, Passion & Patience. ⁣

•Having a healthy perspective that is grounded in gratitude will give you the emotional stability to purely appreciate every day as the blessing that it is. ⁣

•Leading with Positivity and optimism as your centerpiece is a winning formula for success. Having an unwavering positive attitude is a superpower that can lead to so many other wonderful things in your life. ⁣

•If you are passionate about something, that can be the fuel and the driving force that propels you to get to the next level. Passion produces effort. Consistent effort produces results. ⁣

•Maybe the most important and difficult trait is patience. It’s no coincidence that learning patience takes a very long time. However, patience prevents pain, and frustration, and can lead to higher levels of peace and happiness. ⁣

We know this episode will be an UNLOCK and will help at least 1 person. We hope this person is YOU!

Keys to improving as a official

I started listening to this podcast over a year ago, and I was instantly hooked. I went back and listened to every episode. At the time I think there was 50 or so episdoes. Every episode I walk away with multiple tips to implement into my game. It has become a great pregame listen on my way to my games and helps keep those tips from the episode fresh. Paul does a great job not only bringing great guest but keeping the content ideas new and different, from the IDP, to rules talk, the NBA/NCAA Officials and more, I enjoy every episode. Please continue to keep up the great work and know that many officials appreciate the content.
