tick, tick … BOOM!: Reviewed!  Your boys here on the Cccappraisalhour.show love films. So we are so happy to review one as it’s been a hot minute since we reviewed one. And speaking of minutes. Time is ticking podcast listeners! It’s always ticking away, the countdown is always at hand. Time is always speeding up, we’re ever-approaching the big moment and then it’s finally here whether you like it or not, the time will finally come and … BOOM! The CCCAH review of tick, tick … BOOM! drops. Oh yeah! You’ve been waiting (have you?! How??) and it’s finally here!  We are ticking and we are booming up a storm and we are the podcast that, apparently, gives you TWELVE SEPARATE NUMBERS to consider on a weekly basis. That’s right! Three guesses apiece (six total) and three scores apiece (another six total)! The wildest maths! It occurred to us during the episode and we laughed a lot. We hope you laugh a lot too. At us, with us, whatever. Even if you, like us, struggle to convey to newbies how fun the concept of our podcast is.  Today you loyal listeners will be blessed with a cold open chock full of 30 second game goodness and all! SIMON COWELL THE NEXT ACT SEASON 1 EPISODE 1: Reviewed! Welcome to the show friends. It’s the cccappraisalhour.show show! We continue our mission, our chosen mission in this podcast plane of existence: to live up to the website that bears our name. Today we’ll be reviewing a talent show cum reality show sort of deal. The new Simon Cowell show. Who knows why? Oh yeah, because Christopher pitched it. That’s why. Let the record show.  But more importantly: HAPPY SUMMER! It’s Summer now in Not Great Britain in the year 2026. And we refuse to go back to the cold, dark days of the NOT SUMMER times. You can hear it in our voices in this episode. We’re happy campers. Happy as Larry! Larry Sanders, star of the It’s Garry Shandling Show! But yeah, I hope you are happy and enjoying some sun while listening to us today. Perhaps sipping on a craft beer (?) or a nice Jubel (!)!  We appreciate you very much for tuning into the show on a weekly basis. You’re the reason we’re still doing this. Yep, you. Hi Jonny! Lol.  In a quick sidebar, please note that our album review show is A REAL THING but might be more of s SOMETIMES show rather than a STRICTLY MONTHLY endeavour. SNL UK EPISODE 1: Reviewed!  It’s the cccappraisalhour.show show baby! Welcome back to the podcast. Season seven going strong. We are the off-point accumulation show and this week I can assure you, for two stalwart Saturday Night Live fans … there will be a veritable feast of off points on offer. Because that’s right, we still surprise each other! We’ll both be absolute stalwarts of UK based SNL US viewership for years and years and then the time comes to review an episode and dissect it sketch by sketch (gosh we sound like a fun duo don’t we? Lol) and we’ll find ourselves disagreeing on all sorts! And surprised at what we’re disagreeing on, best of all! A fun and off-point filled episode of nitpicking sketch comedy, just like we like.  I still can’t believe SNL UK exists. Let me stress that. 2026 is a dream. Maybe life ended in 2020 and this is all just a fever dream. Would be a relief in some regards lol. Also mum gave this episode her seal of approval with the classic double whammy: laughing several times during the cold open (while I was quickly explaining the history of SNL) and the opening of the monologue but asleep before the end of the monologue. Classic. ONE SHOT WITH ED SHEERAN: Reviewed! It’s another edition of the cccappraisalhour.show show! Season 7 episode 1.  And boy does Season 7 begin with a bang! Not quite Chandler-just-proposed levels but still. For those of you who are not new to this but TRUE TO THIS (yep we’re still doing all the stuff, as per) we are carrying on how we left off. Season 6 was the first win (in a while, sources tell me) for Christopher and that means he has officially won the prize. That’s right. THE PRIZE. Only took us six seasons of our podcast (and 40 seasons plus of watching SNL) to create a prize but here it is, in all its glory: The winner of each season gets to write a monologue that the other *has* to read out at the start of the new season. How very Michael Che and Colin Jost of us, eh? Glad we came up with it just in time for me to lose and bear the brunt of it. *rolling eyes emoji* well anyhoo, it dominates the cold open so don’t skip it. And then we’ll get to the thirty second game ok and everything is kosher ok, relax! If you want to follow along with the script provided, you can read Christopher’s writing here: “Christopher - Firstly I want to congratulate you on your Season 6 Win. You navigated some questionable pitches as well as a HOST of specials over the festive period. But you stuck with it and were rewarded with your first win since season one.  While I apologise for pitching a magazine, you now have a new love for the art. You entered the world of K pop demon hunters, had your first dose of peep show and hung out with some easy riders. You provided me with a glimpse of what happens when you combine heist and magic, what happens when the whole world becomes aliens (we think) and made me fall in love with scrubs again. We managed all of this without touching on the old boring Norm macdonald, or American late night, or any of that stuff I’m WAY TOO OBSESSED with.  Needless to say. The friendship is still here. So. . .with that said. . . let’s start the show.” And as ever. Start the show, we did.  Watch One Shot with Ed Sheeran here: https://www.netflix.com/watch/82123114 Watch the trailer that caught Christopher’s eye and inspired his pitch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjO8XACCpiQ Watch the making of One Shot with Ed Sheeran here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J49t-rLedKo Watch Ed Sheeran cheering on a runner here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYVpByu9nNs Read Peter Bradshaw’s review of One Shot with Ed Sheeran for the Guardian here: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2025/nov/16/one-shot-with-ed-sheeran-review-philip-barantini Check out our e-mail: cccappraisalhour@gmail.com Check out our Twitter: twitter.com/cccappraisalpod Check out our YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@cccappraisalhour Check out our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cccahour Special FAVE MOMENT FROM THE POD RECORD note for VIP read-the-whole-show-notes-members only: When Christopher balked at the idea of me not understanding what “this pub pours a good pint” means. Shout out.   SPOILERS BELOW FOR NEXT SEASON: https://www.nowtv.com/watch/playback/vod/_/A5EK5anvvYyjizcsfwDTN (as expected … but no correctly-guessed-the-pitch points cos I have guessed a fair few of his and honestly that’s enough now lol)  Also we haven’t quite figured out how to tally up Expected Off Points (XOP) but we’re working on it.   Hosted on Acast. E.R. SEASON 15 EPISODE 23: Reviewed!  Cccappraisalhour:show is our website! Designed by Jonny Mortemore! Special shout out and thank you for the only podcast website in the biz today that the podcast itself is trying to live up to the awesomeness of.  We finished our ramble, now we’re gonna go to the thing. Hey podcast fans. It’s that time of the year again. We did it and we’re here for the hundredth bloody time and hey well wouldn’t you know it, another season finale has rolled around. We have so much to discuss. And perhaps we have finally stumbled on a format of the show … half an hour talking about God knows what and then a rushed latter half of the episode squeezing in a review of the ONE THING we’re reviewing! If this is the way we’re going we’ll be down to reviewing HALF A THING by next season.  But anyway, hey, the end of season 6 of the Cultural Content Consumption Appraisal Hour is all about the end of Season 15 of E.R. It was always gonna be this way, wasn’t it? Some of us knew from the first episode, it was just so easy to tell. (this is a joke about how out of the box a pitch this was, I hope you’re getting it … but since so many of our pitches are out of the box, the real random pitch would be a … predictable one … right? Really makes ya think …)  Here is one link to an E.R. episode before a bunch of links to a bunch of other random stuff we mentioned today: https://www.netflix.com/watch/80236389 Ok one more about the E.R. finale but that is your LOT: https://www.eonline.com/news/1028683/how-a-real-life-tragedy-and-a-returning-star-helped-er-sign-off-secrets-about-the-full-circle-series-finale-you-probably-forgot Taste London will serve you thematically appropriate food while you enjoy a movie. THE PARLOUR BY PICTURE PARLOUR: Reviewed!  It’s Album Club *wine glasses clink sound*. That’s right, Albums ONLY Club. No things that are not albums! And this is episode 1. How many episodes of albums only club will there be? Well how many months in a year are there? So that many, in 2026! In theory. Well, minus two, because we’re starting in March. Why do you make me explain things in such a long-winded way?   Anyway, we’re so happy to debut a new spin off show and we’re so happy to tell you it is completely free of charge … this month *big eyes emoji*  Albums Only Club will be a new monthly series in which we review an ALBUM! Christopher’s pitch starts us off with The Parlour by Picture Parlour. Picture Parlour are a 5 piece indie rock band formed by Katherine Parlou and Ella Risi and this is their debut album, released in 2024. It’s time to get your 14-15 listens in, with all ticks sent through either in text message form to the whatsapp group or discord (existence status tbh) and we’ll catch up on your scores later. Will we guess your scores though? We’re not sure, we’re doing actual scores and guesses a bit differently for this series. We’re doing out of ten and averages. You can calculate the average mean number from a set of data by adding up the numbers and then dividing by how many numbers there are. Don’t tell us we don’t cover everything on our show(s)!     Listen to the album on streaming here: https://music.apple.com/gb/album/the-parlour/1831977424 Buy the album from the band’s website here: https://shop.pictureparlour.co.uk/ Read about the band on their Wikipedia page here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picture_Parlour The DIY article that Christopher said turned him on to Picture Parlour: https://diymag.com/interview/picture-parlour-the-parlour-november-2025 Buy tickets to the Hackney Oslo show here: https://www.oslohackney.com/events/picture-parlour/ OUR COLLECTIVE CCCAAH/AAACH score: seven out of ten  Check out our website: cccappraisalhour.show Check out our e-mail: cccappraisalhour@gmail.com Check out our Twitter: twitter.com/cccappraisalpod Check out our YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@cccappraisalhour Check out our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cccahour Christopher’s guess for the year of my next pitch: 2006 The actual year for my next pitch: 1970  Spoiler below for next month’s album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EC7JF-okbsA Hosted on Acast. SCRUBS SEASON 10 EPISODES 1 AND 2: Reviewed! The boys are back in town! Jeffrey and Christopher or J.D and Turk!? BOTH of course because it’s Thursday and you know what that means. We only have one question for you dear listener: what kind of day has it been? For us it’s been a good one because we’re talking all things SCRUBS! What are the nature of these “all things”? Well we start with the fact that we’re OGs. Old heads. We grew up on this shit. You know how it goes. And now it’s back! Which is crazy. We talk about how the finale of the initial run (2009) arguably aged worse than the pilot (2001) and how it all brings back beautiful memories of the sitcom-shaped-hole-in-our-hearts (©) being filled in our youth and young manhood by the seemingly immortal Bill Lawrence. We even talk about the finale of the truncated spin-off-esque season 9. Or we at least “mention it” if not “talk about it” lol.  We interrupt each other a bit. Roast our beautiful and beloved website creator for daring to go on holiday towards the climax of season 6 (we’ll text you scores soon @JVD_Games) and then get back to roasting each other. Do we fit the 30 second game into the cold open? Do we let the Brit Awards cold open chat run rampant into the rest of the episode? So many questions. Mainly tangents do not get resolved (as per) but we’ll definitely get to the guesses and the scores and someone winning an episode. We’re close to the end of the season after all. Another season finale. Is this the very end of the CCCAH as we speak? Or will we be empowered by the newly revived Scrubs to NEVER DIE!? I’d love for it to keep going but who knows, you know? I stand outside the podcast studio watching a big screen showing me my CCCAH fantasies for the future after a long day of podcasting. It's never good to live in the past too long. As for the future, thanks to Scrubs, it didn't seem so scary anymore. It could be whatever I want it to be... Who's to say this isn't what happens? And who's to say my fantasies won't come true just this once?  Watch Rosalía, Björk, Harry Styles and others (even Jack Whitehall) performing at the Brits: https://www.youtube.com/@brits Here is the man Christopher referred to as a “a really good version of The 1975” talking to Zane Lowe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTA637pJ63Y Here is Matt Healy of The 1975 (who are a really good version of The 1975) being awesome in conversation with that same interviewer (two can play at this game; I love a Matt Healy shownotes feature, cheers mate!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3ZHGfcENuk A Reddit thread on the issue with streaming the original music Scrubs has: https://www.reddit.com/r/Scrubs/comments/1gm8u60/sometimes_it_just_isnt_the_same_without_the/ The first 2 episodes of the new season of Scrubs: https://www.disneyplus.com/en-gb/browse/entity-14a72768-5dcb-4adb-83d6-25af66c5b5e2 A review from the Guardian’s Stuart Heritage: https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2026/feb/26/scrubs-review-daft-gags-volcanic-fury-medical-sitcom Check out our website: cccappraisalhour.show Check out our e-mail: cccappraisalhour@gmail.com Check out our Twitter: twitter.com/cccappraisalpod Check out our YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@cccappraisalhour Check out our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cccahour Special FAVE MOMENT FROM THE POD RECORD note for VIP read-the-whole-show-notes-members only: When we talked about Scrubs. And then Christopher remembered us watching a specific episode together for the first time, as kids round his place, and this remembering (of us watching a season finale cliffhanger type moment) triggered my own remembering. But then he changed his mind and decided he remembered it differently actually and I had actually seen the episode before and was rewatching it with him (in the memory) in order to watch him to see his reaction to the plot twist and I was like (in the present) “… oh”.  SPOILERS BELOW FOR NEXT WEEK’S #REVIEW1THING CONTENT: https://www.netflix.com/watch/80236389 Hosted on Acast.
