Ep. 176 - Elseworlds - Batman: Assault on Arkham

Week three of the Good Brothers' annual Elseworlds month continues, and this week it's a trip to the video game universe of the popular Arkham series with a look at the direct to video movie, Batman: Assault on Arkham. Although the title makes it seem like a Batman film, the movie actually heavily focuses on everybody's favorite government Task Force X aka "Some kind of Suicide Squad." Hear the hosts talk about a plot that likely influenced the two live action Squad movies that followed this 2014 release. The hosts talk the normal 4 categories including an eastern animation style that features both exciting action scenes, and disappointing shortcuts. Additionally they talk a huge voice cast featuring several DCAU voice-alumni and additional voices from video games and galaxies far, far away. Plus the return of a dubstep-influenced soundtrack and a preview of next week's HUGE review to wrap up the month, on this week's all new DCAU Review!

Ep. 175 - Elseworlds - Chill of The Night!

Not as celebrated as the big round numbers, but a milestone nonetheless as the 175th edition of the DCAU Review comes at you in this month of Elseworlds tales, taking a look around the DC Animated Multiverse. This week the Good Brothers return to James Tucker's Batman: The Brave and The Bold series with a review of one of the most loved and celebrated episodes, "Chill of The Night!" Ep. 174 - Elseworlds - In Love And War...

Ep. 174 - Elseworlds - In Love And War...

The month of September is upon us and not only are the Pumpkin Lattes spicy, but so is the focus of our Elseworld's theme month. With a focus on various villains across the multiverse, the Good Brothers kick things off with a review of the Green Lantern: The Animated Series episode "In Love and War..." which focuses on the introduction of the Star Sapphires to this universe. The hosts break down a plot that's light on action beats, but in true Green Lantern fashion is heavy on emotion. With CGI visuals, Cal & Liam discuss costumes for Carol Ferris and the rest of the Sapphires, a few short action sequences including the space ghost (not that one) and a Silver Age homage to Carol's original suit. Plus music that plays like a movie soundtrack punctuating the most emotional scenes and a small voice cast that has several members pulling double duty throughout the episode. All of this and much more await, as well as an exciting reveal for our 175th episode on this week's DCAU Review!

Ep. 173 - DCAU Character Spotlight - Blight

Ep. 173 - DCAU Character Spotlight - Blight

As discussed on last week's episode, the Good Brothers are trying out a different kind of review this week, as they change things up from the standard episode/scorecard format to highlight a single character in the DCAU. With this month being all Batman Beyond episodes, the fellas thought it would be poignant to talk about arguably, the Future Knight's greatest adversary Derek Powers aka Blight. Hear the hosts discuss his entire DCAU story arc from beginning to end, the dual-natured threat of both of Derek Powers' personas, and his place in both Batman Beyond and the DCAU's history. Plus his greatest moments on screen, his appearances in DCAU tie-in material and main DC Continuity as well as a look back at his lackluster representation in action figure form. Plus a discussion of Sherman Howard's unforgettable performance that brought Blight to life, Blight's memorable music moments and more in depth discussion. All of this, a preview of next month's reviews and much more await you on this week's all new DCAU Review!

Excellent

Your podcast is great! I just discovered it recently and I am really enjoying it very much.

Heroes for Heroes

The DCAU Review is given a daunting task: To plow through the DC Animated Universe and dive further into each episode with more than just typical, "This was amazing!" Let's be honest. The DCAU is peak DC and it's hard to do more than merely heap praise on it. What Cal & Liam are able to do is dive into the themes and minutiae of a great storytelling landscape and explain "why" it deserves the praise it gets. The more you listen, the more you love both the hosts and the DCAU.

Love this show!

Having grown up with Fox Kids and Kids’ WB! I always look forward to the hosts and their guests talking about the DCAU. Great memories and they don’t take it too seriously and you can tell they have fun. Keep up the good work fellas!
