Love but a bit confused
I really really love both The Financial Confessions and Too Good to Be True but why are they both under the same name under this podcast? Shouldn’t the second one have it’s own podcast? Plus, the episodes aren’t marked as which is which, so it’s really confusing. When TGTBT was about to come out, I remember them saying it would be its own podcast. Was I misremembering or something? Or was it just always only gonna be a few episodes? Like I love both truly, but a bit more consistency and less confusion would be nice. I think there’s another podcast already named Too Good to Be True, so is that why they mixed the podcasts? I feel like they could have just renamed it then though? I don’t know, I’m really confused.🫠 Again, no hate intended! LOVE all of your content, but some clarification would be much appreciated please❤️
So far so good.
No complaints about the show. Unless I’m missing some episodes the show always seems like a cautionary tale for creatives who make the choice and take the risks to do creative work for a living. Like somehow that’s bad that we’re not financial wizards. Being being financially savvy can be learned but I really do think some people are naturally gifted at being great with numbers and finance and that part can’t be taught. Just like creativity you can teach skills but not that intangible spark that inspires creativity. I think it’s that spark that moves some people like myself to choose creative work over a job with a 401k. It would be helpful to have more financial strategies that are a little more relatable. Otherwise it’s an interesting podcast.
Too awful to be true
The too good to be true show is so bad. It’s just two people hating on things that some other people like. Are Magic the Gathering cards a good investment? Are rods and reels? Golf clubs? Pyrex? Maybe to a few, but it’s really about a hobby or just things we like.
I listened to the most recent show called “how Disney made the timeshare industry worse.” It started as a knockoff episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and then spent an hour explaining why timeshares in general are bad ideas, but Disney does things differently, but they are still bad.
Also did you know Disney World trips are expensive? The hosts just bash how much a vacation costs. And yet, millions of people choose to go every year. We get it, you don’t like Disney- enough to make it an hour long without talking to someone who purchased their “worse” timeshare. We also never hear a comparison of timeshare companies or their costs.
When they finally “interviewed” a DVC “owner,” he said his grandparents purchased more than once, but the first time was in 2000. And implies they bought more points. Did the family like it? Obviously enough to buy more, but we done get to hear that. We only hear from people who talk about timeshares generally, none of whom have actually purchased despite getting told 9.9 million people own them.
