  1. It’s not the market. It’s your focus

    2D AGO

It’s not the market. It’s your focus

In this episode, I share a truth that most agents avoid: when we struggle, it's rarely because of the market. It's because we never built the internal foundation required to handle change. We obsess over what the market was three years ago or what it might be three years from now, but we forget the only market that matters is the one right in front of us—and the agent we are inside of it.   I revisit a story from The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma that stopped me in my tracks and ultimately became the catalyst for this podcast. It's about the difference between being well off and having wellbeing, and why success on the outside means nothing if you don't have success within.   💡 What you'll learn in this episode: Why two agents in the same market can have completely different outcomes The hard truth about what you actually control (and what you don't) How living in the past or future keeps you from serving today's clients Why self-mastery is the real competitive advantage in any market The one question that shifts you from reactive to adaptable This episode is a reminder that you don't control interest rates, inventory, or what happened in 2020. You control you. Your mindset, your preparation, your presence.  When you stop outsourcing your confidence to market conditions and start building clarity, discipline, and trust from within, you don't chase markets—you master them.   👉 Subscribe for more conversations at the intersection of real estate and self-mastery. 🔔 Hit the bell to be notified of new episodes.   Links Mentioned: The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma https://www.amazon.com/Monk-Who-Sold-His-Ferrari/dp/0062515675 Timestamps: 0:00 – The market doesn’t matter as much as you think   0:17 – Welcome to The Mindful Agent   0:40 – Why agents really struggle in changing markets   1:01 – A lesson from *The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari*   2:40 – Success within vs success on the outside   2:51 – Why past and future markets distract agents   3:35 – The only market that pays commissions   4:32 – Same market, very different agent outcomes   5:16 – What “success within” actually looks like   5:32 – Stop outsourcing confidence to the market   6:03 – Master yourself, not the market   6:17 – Final reminder: success starts within Let’s Connect!: Websites COACHING https://www.michaelcoxen.com    REAL ESTATE SALES https://www.coxengroup.com/  REAL ESTATE BROKERAGE https://magenta.realestate/   JOIN OUR BROKERAGE https://www.joinmagenta.realestate/ Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-mindful-agent/id1782575763   Facebook https://www.facebook.com/coxengroup/    Instagram https://www.instagram.com/michaelcoxen/ Linkedin https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelcoxen/   TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@michaelcoxen

  2. Building Wealth Without Losing Yourself | Rebecca Irey on Finance and Fulfillment

Building Wealth Without Losing Yourself | Rebecca Irey on Finance and Fulfillment

In this episode of The Mindful Agent, I sit down with Rebecca Irey, founder and CEO of Blue Skye Financial, for a conversation about money that goes far beyond numbers. This is a discussion about identity, responsibility, and the quiet decisions that shape our future.   Rebecca shares how growing up on a generational ranch, experiencing financial loss early in life, and navigating personal hardship shaped the way she approaches financial planning today. Her perspective is grounded, practical, and deeply human. Planning, she explains, is not about fear or prediction. It is about clarity, intention, and being present with the decisions in front of you.   💡 What you will learn in this update: Why so many entrepreneurs lack true financial education How money decisions are tied to identity and emotional safety The difference between planning and worrying Why avoiding decisions is still a decision How legacy is built through intention, not accumulation We also talk about retirement, generational wealth, and why many traditional systems do not serve modern entrepreneurs. More importantly, we explore what it means to build a life and business that supports who you are, without sacrificing your health or values along the way.   If you are a real estate agent, business owner, or someone who has felt uncertainty around money and the future, this conversation offers clarity, grounding, and a more honest way forward.   👉 Subscribe for more conversations at the intersection of real estate and self-mastery. 🔔 Hit the bell to be notified of new episodes.   Links Mentioned: Be Here Now – Ram Dass https://www.ramdass.org/be-here-now/ Buy Back Your Time – Dan Martell https://www.buybackyourtime.com/ The Bhagavad Gita https://www.britannica.com/topic/Bhagavad-Gita Feeding Your Demons – Tsultrim Allione https://www.tsultrimallione.com/feeding-your-demons/ The War of Art – Steven Pressfield https://stevenpressfield.com/books/the-war-of-art/ Books by Alex Hormozi https://www.acquisition.com/books ChatGPT https://chat.openai.com/ Blue Skye Financial (Rebecca Irey’s Firm) https://blueskyefinancial.com/      Timestamps: 00:00 – Why Financial Clarity Matters 01:02 – Meet Rebecca Irey, Blue Sky Financial 04:46 – The Cost of No Financial Education 08:52 – Entrepreneurs and the Illusion of Invincibility 12:36 – When Everything Changes 16:42 – Separating Identity From Money 22:32 – Saving, Living, and Balance 27:14 – Redefining Success and Retirement 30:00 – Legacy Beyond Money 36:41 – Lessons and Resources 41:26 – Final Reflection Let’s Connect!: Websites COACHING https://www.michaelcoxen.com    REAL ESTATE SALES https://www.coxengroup.com/  REAL ESTATE BROKERAGE https://magenta.realestate/   JOIN OUR BROKERAGE https://www.joinmagenta.realestate/ Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-mindful-agent/id1782575763   Facebook https://www.facebook.com/coxengroup/    Instagram https://www.instagram.com/michaelcoxen/   Linkedin https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelcoxen/   TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@michaelcoxen

  3. Why I Stopped Setting Goals and What I Do Instead

    JAN 7

Why I Stopped Setting Goals and What I Do Instead

I want to talk about something that comes up every January, and honestly, something I’ve stopped buying into over the years. New Year’s resolutions.   Not because growth doesn’t matter. It does. But because tying real change to a calendar date quietly gives us permission to wait. And waiting is usually where momentum dies.   In this episode of The Mindful Agent, I share why I don’t set goals the way most people do, and what’s actually helped me create lasting change in my health, my business, and my mindset. This isn’t about motivation. It’s about identity, decision, and standards you live by every day.   What You’ll Learn in This Episode Why waiting until you feel ready keeps you stuck The difference between goals and standards, and why standards last How fear disguises itself as procrastination Why clarity comes from decision, not overplanning How to move forward even when discomfort is guaranteed The shift for me happened when I stopped asking, “What do I want to achieve?” and started asking, “Who do I refuse not to be anymore?” That one question changes everything.   This conversation applies whether you are building a real estate career, growing a business, or simply trying to become healthier and more aligned in your life. The moment you decide is the moment things actually begin to move.   👉 Subscribe for more conversations at the intersection of real estate and self-mastery. 🔔 Hit the bell to be notified of new episodes.   Links Mentioned: Be Here Now by Ram Dass A foundational book on mindfulness, presence, and awareness that explores how stepping out of ego and into observation creates clarity and freedom. https://www.amazon.com/Be-Here-Now-Ram-Dass/dp/0517543052   Timestamps: 0:01 – Why I Don’t Believe in New Year’s Resolutions 0:40 – How Real Change Actually Happens 1:31 – You’ll Never Feel Ready (And That’s Okay) 2:16 – Fear Isn’t the Problem, Avoiding It Is 2:27 – Letting Love Lead Instead of Fear 2:54 – Why Fixating on Goals Makes Life Brittle 3:35 – Living in Neutrality and Self-Awareness 4:03 – Don’t Set Goals, Set Standards 4:30 – Identity Over Motivation 4:40 – The Moment You Decide, Everything Changes Let’s Connect!: Websites COACHING https://www.michaelcoxen.com  REAL ESTATE SALES https://www.coxengroup.com/  REAL ESTATE BROKERAGE https://magenta.realestate/  JOIN OUR BROKERAGE https://www.joinmagenta.realestate/  Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-mindful-agent/id1782575763   Facebook https://www.facebook.com/coxengroup/    Instagram https://www.instagram.com/michaelcoxen/   Linkedin https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelcoxen/   TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@michaelcoxen

  4. Why Discipline Creates Freedom with Cory Jacobson

Why Discipline Creates Freedom with Cory Jacobson

Real estate isn’t just about deals, doors, or dollar signs — it’s about who you become while you’re building it. In this episode of The Mindful Agent, I sit down with my friend and fellow entrepreneur, Cory Jacobson, for a conversation that blends mindset, partnership, house-hacking, growth, fitness, and the realities of building a business from the ground up.   Cory’s story is one that so many agents, investors, and new entrepreneurs will relate to — starting with roommates in a two-bedroom house, learning from mistakes, navigating fear, and slowly stacking wins until everything compounds. What makes his perspective powerful is how grounded it is: no hype, no shortcuts, just discipline, clarity, and a willingness to take the next step even when it’s uncomfortable.   We talk about the moves that matter — the small ones you make daily that quietly transform you into someone who can handle bigger opportunities later. And we talk about the moments where most people quit, and why those moments are actually the doorway into your next level. In This Episode, We Cover How Cory went from renting rooms to owning multiple properties The power of starting small and taking imperfect action Why fear, doubt, and discomfort are signs you’re on the right path How social media can amplify your business when used with purpose What every new agent or investor should focus on in their first 12 months If you’re an agent or investor trying to build wealth, grow your business, create more peace, or simply build a life you’re proud of, this conversation is one you’ll feel in your bones.   👉 Subscribe for more conversations at the intersection of real estate and self-mastery. 🔔 Hit the bell to be notified of new episodes.   Links Mentioned: 1. How top agents stay calm under pressure

There’s a moment in every real estate career — and honestly, in every life — where you realize that reacting your way through the day is the fastest path to burnout. In this episode, I share the mindset shift that changed everything for me, inspired by a single line from Ram Dass's Be Here Now:   “You’re standing on a bridge watching yourself go by.”   It sounds poetic… until you actually try it. Then it becomes a blueprint for emotional freedom.   In real estate, where pressure comes from every angle — clients, deadlines, lenders, negotiations, expectations — learning how to step out of the river and onto the bridge may be the most valuable skill you ever build. Today, we break down exactly how to do it. What You’ll Learn in This Episode Why your reactions feel so personal — and how to create space from them How “the bridge” helps you make clearer, calmer decisions Why top agents regulate themselves instead of reacting A guided visualization to shift out of stress in seconds How presence makes you more effective in business and in life   This episode is your reminder that you are not your stress, not your thoughts, and not your conditioning. You can watch it, understand it, and choose a better response.   That shift is where business excellence and personal well-being finally meet.   👉 Subscribe for more conversations at the intersection of real estate and self-mastery. 🔔 Hit the bell to be notified of new episodes. The Yogi Realtor: How Paul Benedict Blends Spiritual Practice with Real Estate Success

Some of my favorite moments on The Mindful Agent are the ones that stop feeling like a podcast and start feeling like sitting on the couch with a friend.    This episode with Paul Benedict — longtime realtor, yogi, teacher, and author — is exactly that. We talk about how meditation, breath, and yoga philosophy actually show up in real life: in business, in conflict, in burnout, and in those “I have no idea what to do next” moments.   If you’ve ever wanted more clarity, more calm, and more meaning in the middle of a busy career, this conversation is going to feel like an exhale.   What You’ll Learn Why meditation isn’t “emptying your mind” — and what it really is The Four Desires (purpose, play, basic needs, spiritual freedom) and how they show up in daily life Simple breath work you can use in real estate, negotiations, and tough conversations How clarity comes from knowing your purpose and just taking the next right step   👉 Subscribe for more conversations at the intersection of real estate and self-mastery. 🔔 Hit the bell to be notified of new episodes.   Timestamps: 00:14 Mindful Agent Intro 00:44 Meet Paul Benedict 02:06 Real Estate + Meditation Journey 04:48 Power of Breath 08:46 Morning Routine 14:34 Science of Positive Thinking 20:30 Yoga Philosophy 23:30 Sound Bowls 25:57 Understanding Clarity 29:26 Four Intentions of the Soul 35:36 Applying the Four Intentions 38:50 Quickfire Wisdom 44:13 Guided Practice   Links mentioned: Books A New Earth – Eckhart Tolle A widely influential book on ego, presence, and awakening. https://www.amazon.com/New-Earth-Awakening-Purpose-Selection/dp/0452289963 The Four Desires – Rod Stryker The foundational teaching behind Paul’s clarity workshop, rooted in yogic philosophy. https://www.amazon.com/Four-Desires-Creating-Purpose-Happiness/dp/0553386074 Ancient Wisdom for a New Age – Terry Hunt & Paul (co-author) Paul’s own book on spiritual growth and practical transformation. https://www.amazon.com/Ancient-Wisdom-New-Age-Practical/dp/1491760782 One Mind – Larry Dossey A deep exploration of collective consciousness and interconnectedness. https://www.amazon.com/One-Mind-Individual-Consciousness-Consciousness/dp/1401943772 Teachers & Thought Leaders Dr. Joe Dispenza Known for bridging meditation, neuroscience, and behavior change. https://drjoedispenza.com Rupert Sheldrake Biologist researching morphic resonance and collective consciousness. https://www.sheldrake.org Masaru Emoto – The Hidden Messages in Water Experiments showing how intention and vibration influence water crystals. https://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Messages-Water-Masaru-Emoto/dp/1582701148 Sam Harris – Waking Up (meditation + neuroscience) A secular approach to meditation and mindfulness. https://www.wakingup.com Wayne Dyer Influential figure in spiritual self-development and mindset work. https://www.drwaynedyer.com Let’s Connect!:   Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-mindful-agent/id1782575763   Facebook https://www.facebook.com/coxengroup/    Instagram https://www.instagram.com/michaelcoxen/   Website https://www.coxengroup.com/ / https://magenta.realestate/ / https://www.joinmagenta.realestate/    Linkedin https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelcoxen/   TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@michaelcoxen

    10/31/2025

What if being tired means you’re exactly where you’re meant to be?

What if your exhaustion isn’t a burden — but a blessing? What if being tired means you’re actually living the life you once wished for?   In this episode, Michael Coxen shares a deeply personal reflection on success, purpose, and perspective — a reminder that tiredness isn’t always something to fix; sometimes it’s something to honor. Between being a broker, coach, husband, and friend, Michael opens up about what it really means to live a “full” life — one filled with responsibility, trust, and opportunity.   This isn’t a pep talk. It’s a reset. A simple way to reframe fatigue as gratitude — to see your busy season not as burnout, but as proof that you’re doing the work you once dreamed of doing.   What You’ll Learn in This Video The powerful difference between burnout and purposeful tiredness How gratitude can shift pressure into perspective A nightly exercise to reframe exhaustion into appreciation Why “I have to” becomes more freeing when replaced with “I get to”   If you’re an agent, entrepreneur, or anyone striving for more — this message will remind you that the life making you tired is often the one you built. Your Space Has Energy: Feng Shui and Astrology with Kate Swick

You ever walk into a room and just feel something’s off — even if you can’t explain why? That’s the kind of energy we’re talking about today.   In this episode, I sit down with Kate Swick, a Feng Shui practitioner, astrologer, and intuitive coach who’s helping people turn their homes and workspaces into environments that actually support who they are. Kate shares her journey from running luxury spas here in Las Vegas to building a life and business centered on intuition, balance, and mindful design.   We talk about how your space mirrors your mindset — from clutter and lighting to art and energy flow — and why small shifts (like moving a piece of furniture or cleaning your windows) can create huge changes in how you work, feel, and show up.   Here’s what you’ll learn: How Feng Shui and mindfulness connect to productivity and emotional balance Why your environment often mirrors your goals (or blocks them) Easy ways to refresh energy in your home or office — no renovation required How astrology can help you recognize the right moments for change   This isn’t just about décor or superstition.
