Jerk

I have objective views and I am a jerk. I am catholic and I am conservative, but this is not a faith based or political podcast. I am a "normal" person that likes to discuss many topics and although I view things through a catholic/conservative lens, my time in the Army has also left me with an a*****e complex. I am not an expert nor am I perfect, but I am Objective and I am a Jerk, so join the Objective Jerk as my Catholic conscience battles with my veteran outlook.

HOW CAMERAS PROTECT CITIZENS WHEN POLITICIANS DON'T

A single clip of surveillance video can change everything: what the public believes, and how a city argues about safety. I talk through Seattle’s expanding use of cameras in high-crime areas and why a viral downtown assault on an elderly commuter became a flashpoint. The footage doesn’t just spark outrage, it also leads to a tip that helps identify a second suspect quickly, showing the real-world value of clear video evidence when time matters. From there, I unpack the bigger debate that keeps coming up with body cams and street cameras. A lot of us once feared the whole thing felt “Orwellian”, like we’re trading freedom for convenience. Others supported cameras as a way to expose corrupt policing. What’s uncomfortable, and important, is that video can do both at the same time: it can hold police accountable, clear officers when claims are false, and capture violent offenders doing exactly what witnesses describe. Evidence forces everyone to deal with facts, not just feelings. Privacy still isn’t a side issue, though. I get into concerns about data storage, security, who gets access, how misuse can happen, and why socialist politicians worry about federal immigration enforcement tapping into local systems.  If you care about public safety, civil liberties, and how cities like Seattle are trying to balance both, listen through and share this with someone who disagrees with you. WHY THE LA MAYORAL PRIMARY SPARKS VOTER FRAUD FEARS

Watching results shift days after election day messes with your head, even if you can’t prove a single thing went wrong. We start with a quick real-life catch-up, then jump straight into the LA mayoral primary drama around Spencer Pratt, Karen Bass, and why late-arriving mail-in ballots can make a clean process look sketchy to regular voters who just want a system they can trust. From there, I read and react to reporting about a DOJ probe request connected to a California voter fraud case, where a woman admitted paying homeless people on Skid Row to register to vote. We talk through what that allegation actually means, why it becomes instant “proof” for some people, and why social media rumours can still send you down a rabbit hole even when the biggest claims don’t hold up. The bigger point is public confidence: slow counting, messy rules, and real cases of misconduct create a perfect storm where nobody believes the officials who say “there’s no evidence.” I also get into the SAVE Act and the heated debate over requiring documentary proof of citizenship to register, plus what California law allows when it comes to homeless voter registration without a permanent address. We end on the uncomfortable truth about tribal politics: when winning becomes the only goal, integrity is the first thing to go. If you’ve got strong views on voter ID, mail-in ballots, or election transparency, listen, share this with a friend, and leave a review. What would make you trust the process again? KARMELO ANTHONY SENTENCE: Why Two School Stabbings Get Different Verdicts

I test a new audio setup while I give my take on the Carmelo Anthony sentencing and why 35 years does not automatically mean the same outcome as other cases. I compare a similar school stabbing story to show how charges, intent, and self-defence claims can lead to completely different verdicts, then I call out how social media rage twists the facts.  • Audio and video quality tweaks as a reason for rapid posts  • Why a 35-year sentence can still involve parole rules  • Comparison with the Belton High School bathroom stabbing case  • Murder vs manslaughter vs criminally negligent homicide explained through the verdict  • How self-defence arguments hinge on who started it and what threats existed  • Why headlines, thumbnails, and biased reporting distort public judgement  • Reaction to a clip of a racist hate crime; when a stranger is punched over “jury selection” assumptions  • Thoughts on remorse, courtroom optics, and how juries read defendants  • Parenting, boundaries, and not letting social media raise kids  • Quick detour into training standards and taking drills seriously  Let me know what you think. Is my audio better? Let me know about what you think about Carmelo Anthony. Was 35 years too much?  Reach me through “FAN MAIL” you can leave a comment or a voicemail.
