The Protocol

The NYT is clearly trying to crawl out of the massive hole they have dug for themselves on this divisive issue. A decade of hard core, doctrinaire enforcement of every CRT/Marxist/TransRights talking point is finally softening to let some debate into the NYTs newsroom. Reporters were very unfair to the Whistleblower and allowing a parent who had sterilized her son to shout down their subject on tape was a bizarre choice; but the reporters, although clearly hard left and supportive of TransRights at least allowed some argument against Transgender treatments for minors to be aired.

This is what nuance looks like — half the complaints call it right wing propaganda and half the complaints call it left wing propaganda. That says more about us and how unsophisticated our views are, than anything else. This is a complex issue. I appreciate the work that’s gone into making this podcast so thorough.

Honestly props to the New York time. I know they really want to empathize and support trans folks. I’m listening from a center right view. Personally I live by “ok do whatever you want I don’t really care.” But what I find really fascinating is the lease of WPath citing experience as a viable scientific argument. “You just need to see the light in their eyes and you’d believe.” And instantly I recognized. This is a religious argument similar to what you’d find in circles that believe in tongues and miracles of healing. That’s fine. You do you. But it’s actually very concerning this is a modality of western science and medicine. What makes medicine and science credible is the scientific method. And I really tried to listen for a grounded argument on this but could only find religious ones masked as science.

Thank you for this podcast. I have always been neutral on the subject. I have no skin in the game, per se. My view on the matter has always been, “not my body, not my business”. But I really appreciate the views that were expressed. I love learning more about things that could affect me personally in the future.
