Advances in ACL Rehabilitation and Injury Mitigation A Movement Based Approach There are >250,000 ACL injuries in the US every year resulting in ~$5B health care cost (AAOSM Annual Conference 2016). Current research indicates that only 63% return to sport (Webster et al Am J Sport Med 2019) and 1 in 4 re-injure upon return to sport “RTSport” (Wiggins et al Am J Sports Med 2016). With reinjury rates at an all-time high, and the impact on future performance, it's no wonder that 63% of players quit within 2 years upon return to sport. Research indicates there are movements that put an athlete at risk that can be identified during squatting motions, during single limb performance and more prevalent during cutting tasks. Traditional ACL rehabilitation protocols are not significantly impacting these movements which is why they remain present at 9 months post op and at 2 years despite being returned to sport. Dr. Amstutz also shares his experiences as an athlete for the US Australian Rules Football Developmental Team...and how injuries and challenges altered his athletic career. Jason's presentation will also discuss the topics below: Human biomechanics occur via a delicate balance of compressive and tensile forces in the body. Also known as BioTensegrity. The fibrous structures: ligament, tendon to tendon with aponeurosis, periosteum, labrum, meniscus, annular fibers of IVD, and others, are all collagen based Fascia. These manage the ‘tensile’ forces. The fluid components:  synovial, bursae, ECMatrix, lymph, fat pads & un- organized adipose for movement (between scapula & serratus AND serratus & rib cage for example), nucleus propulsus of IVDisc, and others, help to manage the compressive forces. To treat and alter the fluidic components raises the bar/game in musculoskeletal care/ sports rehabilitation. Objectives: Explain Fascia. What we know & What we are missing.Discuss what we don’t see in the US in Anatomy books.Identify the Fluidic model of treatment and exercise.Recall Global movement before segmental capabilities?Discuss what I’ve found to be the best way to address most injuries and biomechanical challenges.Review the fluidic components of the body and how to alter thixotrophy? And overall flow.Specific treatment discussion to fluidic components of dysfunction.Discuss why OsteoArticular Pumping is used at the highest levels of post injury/post-surgical rehab.Compare how Articular Pumping is different from current popular treatment models.Review how Articular Pumping is Performed Dr. Jason Amstutz has been teaching the intricacies of fascia and tensegrity in the clinical setting for over 15 years. His extensive rehabilitative work with professional athletes in the NHL, NFL, PGA, LPGA, MLB, and NBA has stemmed from these revolutionary concepts. Dr. Michael Rintala | Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization

In this Episode we speak with PGA Tour Chiropractor and DNS Instructor Dr. Michael Rintala about reducing athletic injuries & improving performance, Core Stabilization strategies and the upcoming Sports Movement Symposium in Newport Beach, CA this June. As well as discussing Dr. Rintala's recent educational lecture... Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization: Application to Sport Performance and Rehabilitation The nervous system establishes programs that control human posture, movement and gait. This ‘motor control’ is largely established during the first critical years of life. Therefore, the “Prague School” emphasizes neurodevelopmental aspects of motor control in order to assess and restore dysfunction of the locomotor system and associated syndromes. Learning objectives:  1. Provide an understanding of DNS concepts and principles that are based on developmental kinesiology. 2. Demonstrate the role of the diaphragm for both respiration and stabilization functions. 3. Demonstrate the application of “active exercises” that are derived from our knowledge of developmental kinesiology.    4. Demonstrate the progressive nature of developmental movements  5. Understand optimal vs abnormal patterns and then solutions to address dysfunctional movements SPRT Therapy Dr. Tim Brown and Dr. John Pecora https://sprttherapy.com SPRT Therapy is a community of Health and Fitness Professionals founded by Dr. Tim Brown and Dr. John Pecora...focused on improving Health and Human Performance through: • Unique, Comfortable, Powerful Soft Tissue and Manual Therapy Techniques • Innovative Functional Sports Taping Applications • Movement Systems designed to Activate and Connect the Brain / Nervous System to the Muscular System Created by Dr. Tim Brown - Founding Medical Director of the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) - Co-Medical Director of the WSL (Word Surf League formerly the ASP- Association of Surfing Professionals) -ACA (American Chiropractic Association) Sports Chiropractor of the Year -Sports Medicine Innovator and Patent holder First Principles of SPRT Therapy: 1.
