243: How can you manifest or be spiritual if you have aphantasia?

243: How can you manifest or be spiritual if you have aphantasia?

Have you ever heard of the term aphantasia? Aphantasia is a relatively unstudied phenomenon that involves not being able to visualize images in your mind. Reportedly about 3% of the population have this condition, and I'm one of them.

I didn't realize til my late 30s that this was even a thing; I was shocked to find out that most people had the ability to go around doing what essentially sounded like hallucination to me. (I learned about it, as many people did at the time, from this article.) As I read more about how most people can easily visualize or play movies or images in their mind, I grew jealous, especially as I got more into spirituality and manifestation. A huge component of manifestation, meditation and other spiritual practices is often the ability to visualize your desires, or other images, in your mind's eye. I've also been told many times by random people that I'm psychic, but how can somebody be psychic if they can't see, you know, psychic images in their mind's eye?

Over time, I've figured out my own ways to tune into spiritual practices that work for me, even though I can't visualize. And that's what I'm sharing about today! Even if you don't have aphantasia, tune in, because these tactics can help everybody deepen their spiritual practices.

242: Why failures are just a part of your checklist on the way to your goal

Hey Soothers! Today I share a life and biz update, especially around the upcoming revamped Sunday Soother membership! I'm hosting a free 3 weeks within the Sunday Soother Membership, with 6 free new classes to attend. Sign up for that here.

But also in this podcast, I share examples of how failures aren't failures, they are literally part of the process on the way to the eventual achievement of your goal. I share a few examples from my own life — from quitting drinking, to biz examples — and hopefully inspire you to think about your perceived failures simply as inevitable parts of your path.

241: How are you already the thing you're desiring to become?

241: How are you already the thing you're desiring to become?

I know a lot of you are motivated, you desire to work and live more into your purpose, and you also may struggle with impostor syndrome or an inner critic. You may feel far away from what you would like to become or be. So today I talk about the importance of consciously finding evidence every day about how you are ALREADY the thing or person you are desiring to be, right now, right in front of you, and I share a couple of stories to ground this concept.

Catherine is amazing

I have been following Catherine for quite some time. As an empath and HSP I resonate with her content a lot. I have found her teachings to be grounded and helpful. She’s not hand wavy; she gives real actionable examples and tips. Like she doesn’t just say “oh so nervous system exercises”. She actually provides examples of like 20 different options, then shares which one she does, and explains how many to do and when. This is soooo much more helpful than what I typically come across which is like, “keep calm you’re amazing” and that’s it.

Actionable and Insightful

I love this podcast! Catherine goes out and reads the books, does the research, practices the techniques and then summarizes the tips for approaching them all with eyes wide open. She’s down to earth and approachable. I’ve also really appreciated her recommendations of other similarly-minded coaches who I follow now and get a ton of benefit from. I always make sure to have her latest pods downloaded and ready!

Love this Podcast!

I love this podcast because I often think self-help type podcasts look at things from a really high up hard to apply/understand in a real way kind of perspective, but Catherine’s podcast is different. She first takes the time to explain the concept, uses helpful metaphors that make it easy to remember, but then she also gives incredibly helpful, real life examples of how we might see something play out or attempt the work she is discussing. It’s not only helpful but a real encouragement to listen to.
