Ignored and underestimated by his captors is the habitat's sole human specimen, Helpless. However, when their efforts to find and harvest an apex predator intensify, he gives them far more than they bargained for. The Question of the Week:

This week’s question is courtesy of Joe Reynolds: During the Agent Venom comic Jack O'Lantern was transformed from a boring knock-off Goblin into a truly menacing and dangerous arch-enemy for Agent Venom. Sadly he fell out of use after the Agent Venom run and was killed off. The same run also gave great updates to The Fly and the Crime Master. I really love these small characters have their potential realized. What is your favorite re-invention of a minor or unpopular character?

#685: Back Issue Reviews from the Cosmic Longbox – Namor Through the Ages!

    It's Back Issue Reviews Time!

In this episode, our sentient Cosmic Longbox wants to know all about that sexy shirtless guy with the wings on his ankles from Black Panther Wakanda Forever, Marvel’s first anti-hero, Namor the Sub-Mariner. Namor McKenzie (betcha didn’t know his last name) was created by Bill Everett way back in 1939 and made his first appearance in Marvel Comics #1 from Timely, the predecessor to Marvel. Since then, Subby has gone through more phases than we can count and we’ll take a look at 8 of them starting with his first Silver Age appearance in Marvel Comics. we'll discuss and review eight classic Namor comics using our "Buy It," "Skim It," or "Leave It" rating system which we probably need to put in a bag with a brick and throw it into the ocean but we can't come up with anything better.

    Back Issue Reviews:

    Joe:

Prince Namor, The Sub-Mariner #1, Marvel Comics, 1967

    Giant-Size Super-Villain Team-Up #1, Marvel Comics, 1974

    Namor the Sub-Mariner #10, Marvel Comics, 1991

New Warriors #14, Marvel Comics, 1991

    Matt:

Fantastic Four #4, Marvel Comics, 1962

The Saga of the Sub-Mariner #2, Marvel Comics, 1988

    Namor #1, Marvel Comics, 2003

Namor the First Mutant #1, Marvel Comics, 2010

Must Read Picks for Next Week!

    Matt's Pick:

Batman One Bad Day Mr Freeze #1

    DC, $7.99

    Written by Gerry Duggan

    Art by Matteo Scalara

Solict/Setup: Going back to the Dark Knight's early days in Gotham City: Batman and Robin, Dick Grayson, face down the coldest winter Gotham City has ever seen. A winter so cold that Mr. Freeze, Victor Fries, no longer needs his containment suit to survive; he is in an element where he can thrive. Robin empathizes with Mr. Freeze, all Freeze wants to do is save his wife, Nora--but Batman warns Robin not to give his empathy to Victor Fries. He's a man who decided his own fate a long time ago and he deserves none of our warmth. And this winter... he will show his true wickedness and power. The powerhouse creative team of bestselling writer GERRY DUGGAN (X-Men, Deadpool, Arkham Manor) and MATTEO SCALERA (WHITE KNIGHT PRESENTS: HARLEY QUINN, Black Science) brings you Mr. Freeze's most frigid story yet.

    Joe's Pick:

    Stargirl: The Lost Children #1

    DC Comics, $3.99

    Written by Geoff Johns

    Art by Todd Nauck

Solict: An epic teenage DC hero event brought to you by Teen Titans writer Geoff Johns and iconic Young Justice illustrator Todd Nauck! When Stargirl of the Justice Society and Green Arrow's ally Red Arrow discover a tragic teenage hero from the past has gone missing, they set out to find him...only to discover he's not the first teenage hero of the Golden Age to have vanished without a trace. JoeR2 ,

Best comic book review podcast out there!

Hands down!

And dang, I’ve been listening for years and figured I left a review a long time ago. Making up for that now, Joe and Matt!

Their contrasting views (and voices) are a refreshing option from most other podcasts out there which all sound the same to me. Their passion for comics really comes through, even if Matt does get a little too excited sometimes. :)

I’ve tried a good many other shows, but The Two-Headed Nerd is my all time, go-to podcast. Most other shows are a little too toxic for me. And now that I think about it, maybe that’s why this one gets less attention? They don’t feed into and encourage comic book fan hatred, which seems to fuel every comic forum out there. Don’t read that as them being “woke,” but read that as them being people who know the world is bigger than the parents’ basement of your typical incel.

Great Podcast

Fun, fast, and well produced. Joe and Matt keep me updated on comic book related news. Reviewing comics carefully picked from Marvel, DC, and more. I love the ”Long-box” Episodes which take look back on specific topics. Thank you for the community call in show.
Long time fan of this consistently good podcast.
