  1. When Left & Right Unite for Animals | Ep. 116

When Left & Right Unite for Animals | Ep. 116

This was a fascinating conversation because we brought together two animal rights advocates from opposite ends of the political spectrum. David Michel was elected as a Democratic representative in the state of Connecticut, so he comes from the political left. Liam Gray, on the other hand, is a conservative, a veteran, and the founder of the animal protection think tank, the Wilberforce Institute. And then we had Sandro Jenni, a researcher at the University of Zurich’s Psychology Personality Lab, who—true to his Swiss heritage—remained impressively neutral, offering thoughtful insights and valuable data throughout the discussion. So every perspective was represented as we explored how to motivate animal advocates to engage politically at a time when so many feel disillusioned with the political class, why politicians aren’t working harder to earn the votes of the millions of vegetarians and vegans out there, and much more. David Michel is on Substack, so be sure to subscribe. (https://substack.com/@davidmichel1/posts) You can also find his writing as a contributor to the CT Examiner. (https://ctexaminer.com/author/david-michel/) Visit the Wilberforce Institute, Liam Gray’s organization, and check out their impressive work making the conservative case for animal rights. https://wilberforce.institute/ And be sure to read Sandro Jenni’s latest study on politics and veganism, titled Political Orientation and Attitudes About Agricultural Reforms Around Sustainability. Animal Liberation War Stories. With Paul, Gary & Jerry | Ep. 115

Sign Up to MapYourHealth Now: https://mapyourhealth.info/ This is a group conversation with three trailblazers of the animal liberation movement: Paul Watson, Gary Yourofsky and Jerry Vlasak. Together, we discussed what it means to break the law for the animals, something Animal Liberation Front Activists have been doing for decades. Call it direct action, disruptive activism, underground activism, civil disobedience, clandestine action - all for the purpose of liberating animals, destroying the tools of their exploitation and changing behaviors. We talked about their most epic activism adventures, what it feels like to be punished by the legal system for your commitment to the animal cause, the many countries that have banned our guests and much much more. Visit the Captain Paul Watson Foundation's website and support OPERATION KRILL WARS, a bold mission to safeguard the Antarctic ecosystem from the relentless industrial assault of fishing vessels. 3. Investigating the Evil of Factory Farming. With Gail Eisnitz | Ep. 114

Investigating the Evil of Factory Farming. With Gail Eisnitz | Ep. 114

Gail is the winner of the Albert Schweitzer Medal for outstanding achievement in animal welfare. She is the chief investigator for the Humane Farming Association. Her work as an investigator helped shut down some of the worst, most cruel animal‑exploitation operations in the U.S. But that's nothing compared to the impact of her first book, Slaughterhouse, which not only inspired many people to become vegan, but also shifted the focus of our entire movement toward factory farming, put pressure on regulators and lawmakers to enforce animal welfare laws, and became a template and inspiration for new generations of animal‑rights investigators. Now Gail is back with a new book, Out of Sight. I highly recommend the book. Visit the episode notes to get it now. In addition to talking about her book, we discussed the mysterious force for good that has guided Gail throughout her life, but also the evil she has confronted; how her life was threatened in this line of work, her thoughts on the welfarism vs. abolitionism debate, more specifically the cage-free standard, and much more. Follow or subscribe to the show now. You don't want to miss next week's episode — a special group conversation with 3 other animal rights heroes: Captain Paul Watson, Gary Yourofsky, and Dr. Jerry Vlasak. Share this episode with the vegans you know. Gail deserves so much praise for all she has done and is still doing for the animals. We should know her name and story.
