There's a version of you that you keep apologizing for. The part you're sure disqualifies you from the table where the good people sit — the part that made you think you'd have to earn your way back before you're allowed to belong.
In Matthew 9, Jesus walks straight past the people who'd earned it and sits down with the traitor at the tax booth. On purpose. In public. Before he'd changed a single thing about his life. This week's episode is for anyone who's been quietly making the wrong arrangement with themselves — and didn't realize the chapter was written about them.
We pair Matthew 9 with the Genesis 12 and Romans 4 readings (Abram called at 75, "his body as good as dead") to follow one thread across both testaments: God doesn't call the qualified and then make them worthy. He calls the disqualified — and the calling is the qualification. By the end you'll have one specific thing to do. And one specific person to send this to.
Readings: Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26 · Genesis 12:1-9 · Romans 4:13-25 · Hosea 6 / Psalm 50 (Proper 5, Year A)
