Communication and Conflict Resolution
It's back to just your favorites! Julee and Ryan are here this week to discuss their perspectives on communication and conflict resolution.
Julee and Ryan share their personal stories and what they've learned to ask for when engaging in conflict. They go over many different rules and strategies in how to manage your own emotions while still playing on the team of your partner. In this episode, you'll get to hear Julee talk about how she personally manages conflict with her husband, how there can be a push-and-pull effect between the partners, why we should discuss our expectations to avoid misunderstandings, and the common hang-up of people grieving that a conflict even had to happen!
Ryan also gives a fun scenario at the end for Julee to decide how she wants to resolve, and we leave the episode looking at ways we can examine ourselves and continue to grow.

No Cost Cancer Support at Waterford Place Ft. Omar Ramos
It's rare in this day and age to hear about healthcare that truly cares, but that is what you'll find at Waterford Place in Aurora, IL. A haven for patients and families fighting cancer, Waterford Place is an institution that our very own Thomas Barkauskas worked with extensively. We have the pleasure of talking to Omar Ramos on this episode, the Program Development and Operations Manager, about his journey to this special place and what it does for families in need.
Omar has the unique and special journey of starting at Rush Copley Hospital at the age of 16. After working in food service and then the financial aid department, he now has the pleasure of focusing on the good work of helping these families. We discuss his journey, our own family's history with cancer, and what all of these resources mean to the community.

A Conversation on Grief & Loss
It's our 50th episode! Thank you all for being a part of that journey. Today we don't have any extra guests besides our amazing co-host Julee who talks about personal and practical perspectives on grief and loss.
Mother of the show and professional counselor of many years, Julee has personally experienced loss in so many ways and wields this now as her power to help others cope with their pain. We cover the stages of grief, how people try to make meaning out of their losses, and the many ways we can find ourselves bracing and coping with the intensity of it all.

A triumph!
Really great podcast! The mental health education is invaluable, but what really makes it fun is the dynamic between mother and son. I’ve enjoyed every episode so far, especially the one with Tracy Leung, who is very knowledgable and has a great sense of humor. Highly recommended!
Love to listen!
I think it’s such a cute idea to have important (or just fun) conversations between mother and son that are helpful to the public as well! Mental health is obviously a huge issue in our society, as is open expression of vulnerability in men. This podcast addresses both while having enjoyable conversation. As someone who’s very interested in psychology (and going to school for it as well), I like this podcast a lot!
First episode review
An intimate look at a genuine dialogue and relationship between mother and son. It brings to light how productive and calming a conversation with your parent can or should be. Excited to listen to future episodes with guests!
