Everyone makes mistakes. We're human. But the biggest mistake to make is not learning from things you got wrong. After over 600 episodes of The Brain Candy Podcast, Sarah Rice and Susie Meister realized their freewheeling, casual conversations didn't always get everything exactly right. And as they evolved and grew over the years and science developed, they changed their minds about a lot of things. So it's Things We Got Wrong to the rescue! This podcast is a celebration of humility, evolution, and growth, and says it's ok to make mistakes and change your mind. It's time to move forward by looking back!

90s Nostalgia, Y2K, & Low Fat Diets
We're getting nostalgic for the 80s and 90s today! We're looking back and seeing what we got wrong about the final decades of the millennium. Were parachute pants horrible or awesome? The Rachel haircut--is it timeless or was it a fashion no? We discuss the early days of reality tv that Susie misses. We hear why Kato Kaelin still has habits he created to copy with his role in the "trial of the century." We talk about a failed world record attempt involving balloons and Susie explains why Y2K's computer scare was probably not an overreaction despite the lack of world-ending events that happened on that fateful New Year's Eve. We debate whether Pee Wee Herman got a bad deal, why Oprah may have outstayed her welcome in the cultural milieu, and we do not miss the 90s waif-ish model craze. And even thought we think the low fat diet trend was ridiculous, those Snackwell's cookies were delish.

Abortion, Roe v Wade, & IVF
The theme of episode 64 of Brain Candy Podcast was abortion, and we had Jessica Semler on as our expert guest as she worked for Planned Parenthood. Today we revisited that conversation and invited Jessica back to discuss anything we got wrong 8 years ago. One thing Jessica did not get wrong is all the ways the Presidential election of 2016 would impact reproductive rights, women's rights, and our lives. We talk about the overturning of Roe v Wade, the implications on IVF and other fertility treatments, and the importance of sharing abortion stories and women's health experiences with each other.

Weaves, Wes, and Washing Jeans
Today we're discussing Brain Candy episodes 61 and 62, which covered hair and a mid-season discussion of Rivals 3. First Sarah shares what she got wrong about weaves and her regrets about encouraging Devyn to wear her natural hair for the final because the weave would be an encumbrance to their victory. We discuss the stigma of hair plugs for men and Susie makes the argument that a lot of cosmetic procedures would fall under the category of "gender-affirming care." I Love S&S! 🧠🍬
I have binged Brain Candy over the past 9 months and was sad to have final caught up with their current episodes. Two podcasts per week is generous but they have so many great topics that I found myself wishing for an extra episode. When I found this podcast, I was so happy! More Susie & Sarah and the chance to hear what they would do differently, how they perceive themselves then and how they have grown. Satisfying in every way!

Why don’t they both listen to the same episodes?
Really weird that they don’t coordinate episodes they listen to. Is it that hard to call each other beforehand to make sure you’ve listened to the same episodes?
