Episode 276 - Luke 16:19-31 - Money: Reflection of Your Heart

This episode dives into Jesus' parable in Luke 16:19–31 to unpack what money reveals about the heart. The hosts set the scene by noting how often Jesus taught about wealth, giving, and the dangers of loving money more than God. They retell the story of the rich man dressed in purple and the beggar Lazarus at his gate, their deaths, and the startling reversal: Lazarus comforted at Abraham's side while the rich man suffers in Hades, begging for a single drop of water. When the rich man asks Abraham to warn his brothers, Abraham points to Moses and the prophets and warns that even a resurrection would not convince those who refuse to listen. Key takeaways include that wealth itself is not the sin but selfishness and a hard heart are condemned; money is a reflection of the heart; you cannot serve both God and money; and good works or riches cannot buy salvation. Heaven and hell are presented as real realities in this teaching. Practical application focuses on following God’s prompts to help others, sharing the gospel urgently, giving generously, and examining how you steward resources. The hosts also share personal testimony about how tithing and trusting God with money deepened their faith and brought peace. Episode 275 - Luke 16:13-18 - The Changing Rules of Money

In this episode the hosts continue their study of the shrewd manager and focus on Luke 16:13, where Jesus says no one can serve two masters — you cannot serve both God and money. They note that Jesus spoke about money often and discuss how wealth, possessions, and giving reveal the condition of a person’s heart. The episode examines a footnote listing signs that money has become your master, such as constant worry, prioritizing earnings over important pursuits, and reluctance to give. The hosts contrast the changing, deceptive nature of money with God’s unchanging character. They highlight how the Pharisees, who loved money, sneered at Jesus and how his message calls out hypocrisy and points back to the heart. The conversation also touches on John the Baptist as the dividing line between the law and the good news of the kingdom, and how Jesus fulfills the law rather than cancels it. Finally, the episode briefly addresses Jesus’ strong teaching on marriage and divorce as a call to lifelong commitment and ties it back to the overarching theme: our motives matter. The hosts close with prayer, urging listeners to examine their hearts and choose devotion to God over devotion to wealth. Episode 273 - Luke 15:21-31 - Prodigal Son Pt 2 - He'll Meet You Where You're At

This episode revisits Luke 15 and explores the parable of the prodigal son after discussing the lost sheep and lost coin. The hosts reread key verses about the son coming to his senses, his humble confession, and the father who runs to meet him with compassion, robes, a ring, and a celebratory feast. They reflect on the depth of the father’s love and God’s patient, welcoming heart, the importance of genuine repentance, and the joyful response in heaven when a sinner returns. The conversation highlights how God meets people where they are and celebrates their restoration. The episode also examines the older brother’s anger and resentment, using it as a warning against self-righteousness and the tendency to judge repentant sinners. Listeners are encouraged to forgive, welcome, and support those who return to faith rather than holding suspicion or bitterness. Closing with prayer and practical application, the hosts invite listeners to receive God’s grace, share the good news, and embrace the gift of forgiveness and reconciliation in their own lives.
