83 | Spring BEWARE: Too Much Too Soon Too Quick

Spring is officially here, and while the warmer weather and longer days have us all itching to get outside and run, this time of year is actually the most popular season for running injuries, with March seeing more than twice as many doctor visits compared to other months. In this episode, we break down why the spring transition is so risky and how to make it through to race season healthy and strong. We cover the two biggest traps runners fall into: trying to make up for a low-mileage winter by ramping up too fast, and assuming that treadmill miles translate directly to road miles. Jacob shares his go-to recommendation for easing back outside with a 50/50 treadmill-to-road split before going full outdoor. We also talk about why dropping strength training once the weather gets nice is one of the most common mistakes we see, and how just one to two days a week in the weight room can keep you durable all season long. Kailee brings in some Traditional Chinese Medicine wisdom too. In TCM, spring is liver season, and the liver governs your tendons, which helps explain why Achilles issues, plantar fasciitis, and other connective tissue injuries spike this time of year. She also shares some simple food and lifestyle tips to support your body through the seasonal shift. We wrap up with some exciting announcements, including a group run on April 4th with giveaways for Grandma's Marathon entries for both 2026 and 2027! ***** If this episode brought you any comfort, perspective, or energy, we would be so grateful if you took a moment to support the show. Episode 81 is our first official listener Q and A! :) We pulled questions straight from the texts and emails we get from clients and listeners because most of them apply to way more than one person. We talk through protein and energy for afternoon workouts, why we look at total calories and carb timing before obsessing over macros, and simple post workout habits that make the biggest difference. We also share our go to whole food protein options, what to look for in a protein powder, and why sourcing and third party testing matters. Next we cover training for a trail race at altitude, how to structure down weeks across a six month build, and practical ways to prepare for 9000 feet including sauna training, hydration, and a few commonly used tools like beets and cordyceps. We finish with immune support, the lifestyle basics that matter most, and a reminder that pushing hard while you feel sick is not a flex. 79 | Olympian Carrie Tollefson - The Secret Sauce Of Outliers, Motherhood, And Staying In Love With Running

Today we are joined by 2004 U.S. Olympian in the 1500 meters, 5 time NCAA National Champion at Villanova, Minnesota high school legend with 13 state titles, proud mom of three, wife to her high school love Charlie, and one of the most recognizable voices in distance running today, Carrie Tollefson. Carrie ran 4:06 in the 1500, 15:04 in the 5K, competed professionally with Minnesota Distance Elite, and now hosts both the C Tolle Run Podcast and YouTube Channel as well as The RunDot Running Podcast, while serving as one of the leading commentators in the sport. But this conversation goes far beyond times and titles. We talk about the secret sauce of outliers. Why the best athletes keep it fun. How confidence is built long before the big stage. And what it looks like to stay in love with running through motherhood, broadcasting, and building a life alongside someone who believes in your dreams. Carrie shares how she trained through pregnancy, what postpartum looked like for her, how she balances broadcasting at the highest level with raising three kids, and the kind of legacy she hopes to leave behind. We also dive into the evolution of running culture, super shoes, Strava, partnership in marriage, and why at the end of the day, it is still “just a race.” This one felt special. 78 | WG2CU 04 | A Big Branding Update, Hope And Community, Patagonia, And A Training Pivot

Welcome back to We Get 2 Do This. This is We Get 2 Catch Up Episode 4, and it has been a minute since it was just the two of us. We have had a run of amazing guests, a lot of travel, and a lot of heaviness in the world. So today is a check in. A breath. And a reminder that you are not alone. We start with some exciting podcast updates, including our brand new logo and our new website, weget2dothis.com. We also talk about the cadence we want to build moving forward, one catch up episode, one topic episode, and two guest episodes each month. If you have guests you want us to bring on, we are officially back in that mode. Then we get into real life. We talk about how important it is to take care of yourself if you want to keep showing up for your community, and how community and hope matter even more when things feel heavy. We also talk about the difference between pushing emotions out in healthy ways versus aiming that energy at each other, plus why training can be one of the safest places to practice resilience for real life. Kailee shares highlights from South America, including Patagonia, mountain town life, big hikes, big perspective shifts, and what she noticed about presence, phones, and how people connect when they are actually with each other. Jacob shares a major training pivot and the full behind the scenes on why he dropped the Mesa Marathon plan, what he learned, and why sometimes the strongest move is the smart move. We also celebrate a big We Get 2 Do This moment, a lifetime bench press PR. If this episode brought you any comfort, perspective, or energy, we would be so grateful if you took a moment to support the show. 77 | The Chaos Coordinator Behind Kuvetta: Building a Small Brand That Lasts w/ Abby Drach

In this episode, Jacob and Kailee sit down in person with Abby Drach, founder of Kuvetta Athletic, a women’s athletic apparel brand built for strong bodies and endurance sport. Abby shares how Kuvetta came to life from a vision she had at a young age and how her background as a Nordic skier at Dartmouth shaped the way she designs apparel. She talks about creating pieces that actually move with muscles, fit powerful legs and shoulders, and still let women express style through bold prints, florals, and personality. You will hear the real behind the scenes of building a small business from scratch, including Abby’s early days sewing over 2,000 face masks during COVID, making thousands of pieces on a home sewing machine, and eventually expanding into a network of US based contract sewers to keep production local. She opens up about slow growth, what marketing wins actually do and do not change overnight, what it was like having a pop up storefront in Boulder, and why in person connection has been one of the biggest drivers of the brand. The conversation also gets honest about entrepreneurship and identity, especially the pressure to keep chasing the next milestone, how hard it is to let the wins sink in, and how one negative review can stick even when you are surrounded by supportive customers. Abby and the crew talk about patience, defining success for yourself, and why you do not need a viral moment to have a meaningful and sustainable business. Whether you are an athlete, a founder, or someone in the messy middle of building something you care about, this episode is a reminder that community matters, the work compounds, and grit can still look like grace. 76 | When the Coach Gets Coached (02): Sickness, Doubt, and Keeping the Door Open

In Part 2 of When the Coach Gets Coached, Jacob sits down with his coach, Matt Welch, at one of the hardest points of a training cycle right after illness and right before a decision. What starts as a simple training update turns into a deep and honest conversation about sickness, burnout, motivation, and the emotional weight that comes with chasing big goals. Jacob opens up about feeling deflated, questioning whether he even wants to race, and wrestling with the fear of letting his coach down. Matt brings perspective from the coaching side, reminding Jacob that fitness is not fragile, progress is not wasted, and that setbacks do not erase the work already done. Together, they unpack fueling mistakes, winter training stress, mental resilience, and the pressure athletes put on themselves to force outcomes before life events like weddings, travel, and major transitions. Kailee joins the conversation to offer grounding perspective, reminding Jacob that this journey has been years in the making and that racing can still be a celebration, not just a result. This episode is for any athlete who has ever gotten sick at the wrong time, lost motivation mid build, or felt like they failed their coach or themselves. It is a reminder that training is rarely linear, that uncertainty is part of the process, and that sometimes the bravest move is simply keeping the door open.
