    #163 - The Things We Pretend Aren’t a Problem

Send me a text! “I don’t care” sounds confident, but sometimes it’s just a protective cover for something else: if we look too closely at the habit that isn’t working, we might have to do something about it. I’m pulling that pattern into the light with zero shame and a lot of honesty, because you don’t need to hate yourself into better health. You need to tell the truth about what’s costing you energy, mood, sleep, and peace. We talk through the avoidance loop so many of us live in: noticing something feels off, feeling uncomfortable, minimizing it with jokes or excuses, then repeating the same cycle when it comes back around. I use real-life examples like inconsistent workouts or overtraining, nutrition that swings between under-eating and overeating, late-night scrolling that wrecks sleep hygiene, and the identity labels we adopt too fast like “I’m just not disciplined” or “I’m a bad sleeper.” We also unpack a key mindset shift for sustainable wellness: self-acceptance is not the same thing as self-abandonment. Then we get practical. I share a simple framework to create habit change without a dramatic life overhaul: pinpoint what keeps bothering you, get curious about what you’re getting from the behavior, educate yourself on what you’re actually dealing with (stress, recovery, attention loops), and run small experiments you can repeat. If you’ve been stuck negotiating with your mind for months or years, this is your gentle nudge to stop calling it normal and start asking what’s truly optimal for you. If this helps, subscribe, share it with a friend who’s been saying “I’m fine,” and leave a review so more people can find the show. #162 - You're Not Behind: Building Long-Term Habits

Send me a text! A “perfect routine” can look like a mountain from the outside: structured workouts, dialed nutrition, pristine sleep hygiene, and a dozen wellness practices that feel impossible to copy. We talk about the truth most people never see, those results are usually built through 10+ years of micro decisions. When you try to jump straight to expert level habits, you don’t become more disciplined. You just get overwhelmed, inconsistent, and convinced you’re behind.  We unpack what it actually means to become the expert of your own body, not by memorizing more rules, but by building body literacy. That means choosing one small habit, applying it, paying attention to how you feel, and adjusting with nuance. We use real examples from strength training (form, breathing, progressive overload), nutrition (protein, fiber, macros and micros), and sleep (bedtime awareness, caffeine timing, recovery, and the beliefs that sabotage change). We also talk about why blindly following influencers and one size fits all plans backfires, and how to use qualified professionals as guidance without outsourcing your judgment.  You’ll hear why flexible discipline matters, structure that supports your life while leaving room for joy, rest, and the occasional spontaneous plan. We end with a clear framework you can use today: get curious, get informed, apply one micro action, then keep what works and modify what doesn’t. If you’re ready for sustainable wellness habits that actually stick, subscribe, share this with a friend who feels behind, and leave a review so more people can find the show. #161 - Why You Keep Doing What Isn't Working

Send me a text! You can know everything about sleep hygiene, strength training, meal prep, and productivity, and still feel stuck in the same loop: “Why can’t I just do the thing?” We’re going after the real problem, not the surface one. When your follow-through collapses, it’s rarely because you’re lazy or incapable. It’s usually because perfectionism, shame, or fear is driving the bus, and your brain would rather avoid a feeling than complete a habit. I share a simple way to move from spiraling into action without forcing yourself into burnout. We start by naming what’s not working, then we go one level deeper and identify the emotion you attach to it, like embarrassment, unworthiness, or anger. That emotional awareness becomes the missing ingredient for sustainable habit change, because “more facts” can’t compete with an unspoken story you’re carrying about what it means when you mess up. From there, we switch into curiosity and practical coaching questions that help you find what’s actually in your way, then pick a micro action that’s specific, realistic, and tied to an exact time. We also use the CRIPES method (Career, Relationships, Intellect, Physical, Emotional, Spiritual) to choose weekly priorities so you can make progress without demanding peak performance in every area of life. If this helped, subscribe, share it with a friend who’s stuck in the same pattern, and leave a quick review so more people can find the show. #160 - Simple Swaps for a Lower-Tox Life

Send me a text! The wellness internet can make you feel like you need a hazmat suit to live a normal life. We’re stepping out of the noise and into something calmer: small, realistic changes you can make over time that actually fit inside a busy week, travel days, and a real budget. No fear-mongering, no “throw everything out today” energy, just grounded micro swaps that reduce daily exposure and help you feel more in control of your health.  We talk about how to spot overly absolute wellness claims, why nuance matters, and how to keep your brain turned on when you’re consuming health content. Then we get practical with the exact changes I’ve used for years: diluted magnesium oil spray instead of conventional deodorant, hydroxyapatite toothpaste as a fluoride alternative (plus how to read labels), and oil pulling as a simple oral care add-on alongside flossing and regular dental visits. Oral health is health, and we connect the dots without getting extreme.  From there, we move into everyday exposures that add up: swapping Bluetooth earbuds for wired headphones, choosing organic coffee because coffee is often heavily sprayed, and using filtered water based on what’s actually in your local supply (including fluoride, chlorine, hard water, or other contaminants). We also cover kitchen and home shifts like reducing microwave use, opting for glass containers when practical, and choosing fragrance-free products to support hormone health.  If you’ve felt overwhelmed by “everything is toxic” messaging, this is your reminder that consistency beats perfection. Subscribe for more practical habit-based wellness, share this with a friend who’s tired of wellness panic, and leave a review with the one micro swap you’re committing to next. #159 - WTF Does It Mean to Lift Heavy?!

Send me a text! “Lift heavy” sounds simple until you’re standing in the gym wondering what heavy even means for your body. I’m breaking it down without the noise: how to choose a weight, what reps and sets actually are, what the last rep should feel like, and how to know when it’s time to level up. If you’ve been stuck using the same dumbbells for years, or you’re worried you’re starting too heavy, this is your practical reset. We also zoom out to the bigger why behind women’s strength training for longevity. We talk bone density and osteoporosis risk, especially through perimenopause and menopause, and why lifting is like making deposits into a retirement account you’ll be grateful for later. Then we get into the inside-the-body benefits that don’t show up in a mirror right away: metabolic health, insulin sensitivity, steadier blood sugar, and the kind of consistent energy that makes your whole day feel easier. To wrap it up, I answer the most common questions I hear: does soreness mean it worked, will lifting make you bulky, should you train to failure, and what if you prefer machines, cables, or resistance bands. You’ll leave with a simple framework you can actually stick to and the reminder that we’re training for life outside the gym. If this helped, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs the push, and leave a review so more women can find strength that lasts. #158 - Simplifying Your Life in a World Full of Noise

Send me a text! Infinite information sounds like a gift, until it starts running your life. We can learn anything now, faster than ever, and yet so many of us feel more overwhelmed, more scattered, and less sure of what we actually believe. I’m zooming in on the real skill of modern wellness and modern discipline: choosing what to ignore so we can act on what matters. We talk about how the constant stream of new studies, trends, AI tools, and “optimize everything” advice can turn into decision fatigue and paralysis. I also unpack the marketing pattern that makes it worse, where every ad says you do not need all that, you just need this one thing. When you stack trackers, protocols, supplements, and routines on top of a pretty healthy life, the cost is not just money. It is attention, peace, and presence. Then we get tangible. I share a simple way to decide your priorities for the season you’re in, how to separate maintenance from growth, and why saying yes always means saying no. We also talk about auditing your inputs, unfollowing what leaves you feeling off, and using my favorite filter: if it won’t matter five years from now, don’t spend more than five minutes thinking about it. If you want calmer focus, clearer habits, and a more grounded approach to holistic health, hit play. #157 - Why Everything Feels Urgent (Even When It Isn't)

Send me a text! Your to-do list can be full without your nervous system living on red alert. I talk through that sneaky feeling where everything is urgent even when nothing is actually on fire, and how it turns simple life maintenance into a constant hustle. The goal isn’t doing less or becoming “chill.” It’s dropping false urgency so you can keep your standards, keep your ambition, and still feel like you’re enjoying your life. I share a real example from trip prep mode, plus a perspective shaped by my aviation background where real urgency actually exists. That contrast makes it easier to spot when I’m acting like I’m racing for a flight even though I’m just packing snacks, buying dog supplies, or running normal errands. From there, I walk through how to reconnect to the why behind daily tasks, so you move with more presence and less pressure. We also get practical with tools you can use immediately: asking what truly happens if something waits, remembering that important doesn’t always mean urgent, building buffers so your day can breathe, and practicing “slow on purpose” with one everyday activity. I explain a simple tracking exercise for high performers who feel like nothing is ever enough, and how journaling can uncover the belief underneath the constant need to optimize. If you’re tired of power-walking through your entire week, hit play and try the shift from doing things “quickly” to doing them “fully.” Subscribe, share this with a friend who’s always rushing, and leave a review so more people can find the calm, capable way forward. #156 - The Micro Habit of Noticing the Good

Send me a text! Your well-being isn’t only about what you do each day. It’s also about what you notice while you’re doing it, and most of us are rushing past the exact moments that could steady our mood and soften stress. We’re talking micro moments of joy: the perfectly ripe avocado, the sun on your cheek at a red light, the first sip of coffee that actually tastes amazing, the tiny win that proves your effort is working.   I share stories that make this real, from feeling lit up by a bouquet of sunflowers to the power of a genuine compliment at the gym and the “warm fuzzy” connection of being recognized by your laugh. We get honest about hard seasons too, including pain flare-ups and overwhelmed days, and why noticing the good isn’t fake positivity. It’s a practical mental health skill that keeps hardship from becoming the only storyline your brain repeats.   We also dig into tools you can use immediately: a quick gratitude dump to interrupt negativity, simple bookends for your commute to reflect with a growth mindset, and why you don’t need to optimize this into a 15-minute journal routine. If you like the spiritual lens, we talk about pronoia, the belief that life is conspiring in your highest good. If you don’t, the reticular activating system offers a grounded explanation for why “looking for the good” changes what you see.   Subscribe for more grounded motivation, share this with a friend who feels stretched thin, and leave a review if it helps.
