What a Creep: John Phillips (Papa Creep)

John Phillips was a rock and roll icon who helped create “The Mamas & The Papas” and wrote, produced, and co-wrote some of the most beautiful songs of the 60s including California Dreamin’ and “Monday, Monday”. He is one of the founders of the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival and is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He is also a world-class creep who fat-shamed Cass Elliot and was a lousy parent to his children (to say the least!)

Leona Helmsley and her husband Harry Helmsley had a $1.4 billion real estate empire in New York, including the Empire State Building, the Graybar Building, the Flatiron Building, and 26 hotels.
They were also tax-evading billionaires, who often tried to get out of paying people for their work. Leona, in particular, was known as the Queen of Mean, because she would yell at her employees and treated them like crap.

Engaging well sourced and written

I love listening to these on my commute. What €%*£#n creeps! I will never look at these people the same way. Although I expected some were big creeps! They put this together well and I find myself laughing sometimes. Job well done!

Informed decisions on who we choose to idolize

I listen to a handful of podcasts but this is by far my favorite. I actually look forward to checking my podcast library every Friday morning to see who will be reviled to us as a creep. Some of the creeps are just kinda creep and some are downright vile. And then to pull our emotions all back together at the end of the podcast they discuss a non creep which is much appreciated. The stories are well researched and the sources are cited which is nice. Thank you!!

One of my all time favorites!

I absolutely love this show even though the people who are the subjects of the episodes are some of the most horrible pieces of crap on the planet. Margo and Sonia pull no punches in detailing the worst behavior of celebrities, politicians and other prominent people who should know better but can't seem to help themselves from being incredible slimeballs. I love Margo and Sonia's conversational style and their sense of humor. Really fun show, highly recommended. It's also great fun and incredibly gratifying to imagine how angry this show must make the scuzzball fans of some of the episodes' subjects (which you can see for yourself by looking at the one star reviews defending sexual assault and child abuse). The world needs more podcasts like this one!
