An ex-wannabe-world-changer asks "what the hell is up" with local artists and changemakers. Each episode, I'll chat with artists who offer proof that art has the power to inspire authenticity, community, and change. You'll hear local indie music, conversations that provoke inspiration, and my own reflections. I once thought that I had to sacrifice my love of the arts to help change the world, now I believe that beauty and art have the power to connect and change us –maybe more than anything else.

Welcome back to the show, stars. In today's episode, you'll hear the loveliest of interviews I had with Lara de la Rosa, owner of Lazy Cow bakery, a vegan cafe and mutual aid space in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. We discussed the values of Lazy Cow which are rooted in mutual aid, non-hierarchical business, and community. You'll hear music by the incredible Maya Marie, a recent recipient of Seattle's Sonic Guild grant for local musicians.

Currently, Lazy Cow faces the threat of demolition after the building was bought out by a billion-dollar development company. Sign the petition to save Lazy Cow and if you're in Seattle, stop by the cafe or purchase a beautiful vegan cake!

3.13: Rooted in Sisterhood FEAT. Cal w/ music by Lyncs

What the hell is up stars? I'm tuning in on a cozy Autumnal evening, which in Los Angeles followed a 79 degree day. Nonetheless, the effortless feeling of fall in it's ability to transport us to something a bit slower, and perhaps more inward, feels noticeable to me. And with it ushers in a time to consider gratitude. In today's episode, I'm featuring my bestie, my logo designer, my creative collaborator, my little sis Cal! We discuss her move to LA, intuition and sisterhood, and our passion for dance together. I hope you enjoy learning about the lovely Callan Moore and the way our sisterhood has formed us. I also feature "I Burned my Diary Last Night" by LA-based indie pop artist Lyncs, which is the perfect ode to letting yourself fall.

3.12: Rooted in being just a baby FEAT. Border Collie

What the hell is up stars? I went back and forth on what to name this episode. I could've called it rooted in the process of songwriting, rooted in being a band, or rooted in each other, but the central theme here really did feel like it was about being a baby. I sat down with LA-based indie, folk rock band to discuss the formation of their band and their first three singles. In today's episode you'll hear Kieffer, Elon and Julian, share thoughts on musical inspiration from John Mayer to James Jamerson, how it feels to be a baby in LA, and what it's like to stay rooted through mental illness. I felt rooted in conversation with these three talented musicians and funny pals. I hope you do too.

3.11: Rooted in hope FEAT. The Mirror by Kukuni

Hello stars... today I am coming to you live in this first week of Leo Season, a few days before my 27th birthday. Here I reflect on cultivating hope despite struggling through anxiety, depression and working in places that can feel grim. I believe that the cultivation of hope, through patient, community-led efforts is a sure way to loving kindness. This episode felt healing to speak out. I hope you enjoy.
