    Today was a grind, but also a blessing. Hard day’s labor. I laced up the boots today. Heavy work moving furniture, refrigerators, and boxes up and down steps all day. No shortcuts, no comfort, just movement, pressure, and repetition. But somewhere inside the chaos, the day turned into something more than work. Chopping it up over watermelon with the next generation. Coffee and water breaks throughout. Motown music playing in the background while everything else is moving fast. Conversations all day with kids. Moments of laughter, presence, and unexpected connection in a place that was just supposed to be load the truck. This episode is not about the tough work. This episode is not about the day itself. It is about what happens when you stay aware inside it, when you stop beating yourself up, and when you start embracing the good things happening around you. This is a story about resilience and perspective. Hard work will test you, slow you down, and humble you, but it will also show you who you are when nothing is comfortable.

    Open The Door is a reflection on reconnecting with people from past chapters of life without forcing anything to become what it used to be. Over the last few weeks I reached out to old friends, old coworkers, old teammates, and even old mentors. No agenda. No expectations. Just checking in. What came back was simple. Some replies, some silence, and a reminder that distance usually gets created by time, not intention. This episode also opens up a deeper layer of my current creative process. I have been building in silence, working on ideas, and learning when to speak and when to just let the work become the message. There are even small pieces of the upcoming book woven into this one, not as promotion, but as real moments from how it is being built.     This episode started with a simple question: What happens when you stop being the one who always reaches out? Along the way, it became something much bigger. I talk about relationships, family, distance, effort, and the realization that everybody experiences the same chapter differently. While working on my memoir and revisiting old memories, I found myself thinking about childhood friendships, family traditions, growing older, and something we rarely recognize in the moment: Sometimes you don’t realize the last time is the last time. The last game. The last summer. The last barbecue. The last time everybody is together. Nobody tells you it’s happening. Life just keeps moving. This isn’t an episode about blame. It’s an episode about perspective. About appreciating the people who were part of your story. About accepting that people care differently than we expect. And about learning that sometimes the most important chapters in life are the ones we didn’t realize were ending.
