Studio 701 is a podcast made by WCTV19 staff members. It is recorded in our studio at 701 Wildcat Blvd. The WCTV19 program includes three courses, with 64 staff members. The three classes write, produce, and shoot a daily show called, “Unleashed.” The three segment show is created by teens, documenting reality. It contains feature stories from the News staff, commercials and PSAs from Production staff, and an update from our Sports staff.

    In our 19th episode, we look at how burnout can affect us in our lives. Many teens are involved in school, extracurricular activities, friendships, and even relationships. Those things can make us feel drained and overtime ... burnt out. In this episode, hosts Elizabeth Papkov and Elena Surber talk with Whitney High School Counselor Mac Blate, about how to reduce those feelings of stress and remove draining elements from our lives.

So how can we feel more comfortable? Does preparing actually help people do better? And how does the scoring of these tests impact students future? In this episode, hosts Payton D’Amico and Charlize Tumulak talk with Counselor Roisin LeRoy about how she got involved in organizing Whitney's AP tests and her tips on how students can prepare for the exam.

    In our 16th episode, we explore one of the mysteries of our world, Bigfoot. In this episode, we debate evidence for and against the existence of Bigfoot, with Spanish Teacher Todd Furtado. Many people are skeptical about his existence, others are sure that he is real. Hosts Elijah Zuniga and Caden Sense analyze evidence for and against Bigfoot’s existence and try to find the truth hidden in the mystery. Many questions will be asked, many stories will be told, and you’ll learn that this world is full of mysteries.

    In our 15th episode, we go behind the scenes of what students do to bring spirit weeks to life. From planning LTAs and giveaways to deciding dress up days, the spirit committee does everything they can to appeal to the student body and improve their high school experience. But what are some challenges and unexpected obstacles that are faced? Find out on this episode as hosts Paige Friesen and Bella Morris hear spirit coordinator Meadow Dettner’s experience of event planning and what it takes to get the entire school more involved.

    In our 13th episode of Studio 701, we discuss Whitney’s Best Buddies Club’s. We talk about the connection the club has to United Sports and Child Development lll. The Best Buddies Club unites Whitney’s neurodivergent and neurotypical students in a safe space to hang out and enjoy lunch together. The club helps bring awareness to a misunderstood community and teaches neurotypical students how to treat people on the spectrum with kindness and understanding. Alyssa Hutchcraft and Tilly Urieff talk with Senior Maggie Crocker about her experience as president of Best Buddies and what she hopes students can learn from this diverse club.
