    Death's Head Book Review

Welcome to Kendall Bookworms season three. This month Joe got to pick his first book of the season. He picked Death's Head by David Gunn. It is a military sci-fi action book that never slows down. And neither do the brothers as they pick this book apart and talk about their thoughts and feelings on their reading experience.    Next month Alex is picking again. He is sticking to his mystery books and doing another repeat author. Seriously, this guy needs to branch out a bit... Anyways. Alex has picked Mystic River by Denis Lehane. As the brothers loved the first book they covered by this author, they are both looking forward to diving into this one. We hope you will too.   Just as a reminder, we post twice monthly. On the 5th we post our book of the month. And on the 20th we will provide you lovely listeners with a bonus episode. Please make sure to subscribe so that you never miss an episode. Bonus Episode: Stuffed Shorts, a Devious Sneak Attack by Alex

Welcome to Kendall Bookworms! This is our first bonus episode of season 3. And as the title suggests, Alex pulled a fast one on Joe. Alex decided to read the third and final installment of his all time favorite book series, Stuffed. As those familiar with these episodes, you all know this is a smut book. So anyone that snuck in the theater that should not be listening to this sort of thing, please kindly f*** off and come back next month.   Stuffed Shorts is Silvia Morrow's last installment of the Stuffed series. The triple entendre is pretty obvious. We get 3 short stories that are interconnected. Alex goes into far more detail than Joe wants to hear. So, if you enjoy Joe's suffering, this is the episode for you to tune into.   Next month is Joe's first pick of season three. He has picked a military sci-fi book called Death's Head by David Gunn. So make sure to tune in on the 5th to hear all about this thrill ride of a book.   Just as a reminder, we post twice monthly. On the 5th we post our book of the month. And on the 20th we will provide you lovely listeners with a bonus episode. Please make sure to subscribe so that you never miss an episode. The Cuckoo's Calling Book Review

And we're back!   It is the start of season 3. I know it has felt like a long time since you have heard our silky, sultry voices. Not doing that bonus episode makes it feel as if we have been gone forever.    But not to fear. We are back, like I said. And Alex, as per usual, has the privilege of the first pick of the season. And to start the season off, he decided to begin with a murder mystery. We read The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith. Listen as the brothers pick apart the nuances of this author's first attempt into the highly competitive genre or hardboiled detective noir.    Next month Joe gets to pick his first pick of the season. He is going for something a bit more niche. His love of sci-fi has gotten the better of him, and he is digging deep into the sub-genre of military science fiction. For the month of March, we will be reading Death's Head by David Gunn. So, make sure to keep your eyes open for that one. It is a harder book to find, so if you are one of the strong, that likes to read along, just be prepared to have to do a deep search.   Just as a reminder, we post twice monthly. On the 5th we post our book of the month. And on the 20th we will provide you lovely listeners with a bonus episode. Please make sure to subscribe so that you never miss an episode. Season 2 Wrap-Up

Hey everyone! We made it! Two full seasons now. 32 books total that the brothers picked out for everyone to read. A whole bunch more in bonus episodes. It's been quite the ride. In this episode, the brothers are going to go over all the books they read this season, ranking them and comparing them to the first season. Then Joe is going to geek out on some stats and Alex is going to try and stump Joe in a little game he made up.   This may be the last episode of season 2. But fear not. There is a third season coming next month. The brothers have already picked their books for the season and are thinking up new and exciting bonus material. For all those people that want to be involved with the process, feel free to reach out. We will take book recommendations, recommendations for episode ideas, author interviews, or guest appearances. Ways to get ahold of us will be listed below.   There will be no bonus episode this month. The brothers need a well deserved break. And a chance to get ahead. It was a real struggle at the end of this season to get everything together. Bonus episodes will be back next month.   That said, the first book of season three has been announced. Alex, who gets the traditional first pick of the show has set us up for a mystery. He picked The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith. Make sure you pick it up and read along with us, if that's your jam. Otherwise, we look forward to being in your ears next month.    Just as a reminder, we post twice monthly. On the 5th we post our book of the month. And on the 20th we will provide you lovely listeners with a bonus episode. Please make sure to subscribe so that you never miss an episode. Bonus Episode; Becky Talks About Come Fly the World

Becky joins us for the last bonus episode of the season for one of her favorite books that she read this year. She tells Joe all about the book Come Fly the World by Julia Cooke and the amazing women who flew on Pan Am as stewardesses. It is an interesting story that Becky is clearly thrilled about. Some check it out.   We also passed 1,000 downloads for the year! So, thank you for all the people that have listened to the show. The brothers are truly thankful for all of your support. We hope that you stick around for next year as we roll into season 3.   Next month is our season wrap-up episode. Joe drops some stats on everyone. Alex and Joe compare their book picks and bonus episode ratings with Goodreads and each other. Alex even has a quick little game for Joe. We will also be announcing Alex's first pick of season 3, so you don't want to miss it.   Just as a reminder, we post twice monthly. On the 5th we post our book of the month. And on the 20th we will provide you lovely listeners with a bonus episode (as noted, the brothers are both becoming very busy with life, so this schedule may be changing; please stay tuned for any updates that they will be making). Hyperion Book Review

Welcome to our final book pick of season 2. This month the brothers read Joe's final pick, Hyperion by Dan Simmons. An epic sci-fi that not only won the Hugo in 1989, but also the brothers' hearts. Alex really knows how to cut this one down to the wire. He was enjoying this book so much that he didn't finish it until days before we needed to air the episode. To make it a tighter crunch, this is possibly the longest episode we have ever recorded. Luckily, Joe skipped all his grad school homework to make sure this episode made it out on time for all of you fans. We don't want to disappoint you guys.   Your welcome.   Next month, there will be no book. Instead Alex and Joe will be doing the season 2 wrap up, discussing how this season went and where we hope to take it next season. And in that same vain, we have almost gotten 1000 downloads this year! So, give us a hand and get us over that mark before January. That would be amazing. Bonus Episode w/Guest Host Haley: Talking Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer

In this fantastic discussion, Haley has come back to join Joe to talk about her all-time favorite book. Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teaching of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer has become one of those late bloomers of books that everyone is talking about. And for good reason. We get a little hippy-dippy at times, but this book is not only worth reading, but talking about with everyone. Haley and Joe bring many of their personal stories of adventures in nature to add in with Robin's amazing tales.    A quick note from the editor: We apologize for the audio quality on this one. Between mics not working, recording in an echo-ey location where other people are walking in and out of, and the pickups randomly not picking up when the pair of hosts get excited and talk over each other, we had to soldier through. Haley, as always was a champ as we worked out some of the technical issues. But, the show had to go on, as Haley was volunteering her precious time, and we did not want to waste a moment more. So, we hope that you are able to forgive us on this one, this episode is worth listening to. A lot of fantastic topics were covered; and we only scratched the surface of what could have been said.   Next month, Joe is getting to give his last pick of the season. He is also swinging for the fences with one of science fiction's greats. He has picked Hyperion by Dan Simmons. This book is ranked up there with the Dune series, Culture series, or the Foundation series. So, a heavy hitter for sure. We will be posting our discussion for this one on December 5th, so make sure you have it marked in your calendars.    Just as a reminder, we post twice monthly. On the 5th we post our book of the month. The Picture of Dorian Gray Book Review

Alex has given us the opportunity to read his favorite book of all time with him. This is his last pick of season two, and he wanted to go out with a bang. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde is a true classic that is still poignant and relevant in today's society. So, buckle up and let's enjoy the ride of a story that has given us one of the world's most recognizable characters.   Next month, Joe is getting to give his last pick of the season.
