Rob Dial: Want to Actually Achieve Your Goals in 2026? Use THIS Action-Based Goal System to Get Back on Track (Even If You Fall Off!)

Jay sits down with Rob Dial for a powerful conversation about discipline, purpose, and why so many people stay stuck even when they know exactly what they should do. Rob reframes discipline not as punishment or pressure, but as an act of self-respect, explaining why choosing discomfort today is often the deepest form of self-love. From building consistency to reshaping identity, he reveals why real change has nothing to do with motivation or willpower, and everything to do with designing a life where doing the right thing becomes automatic. Drawing from his own journey, Rob shares hard-earned lessons on following curiosity, embracing failure, and staying consistent long before results appear. He challenges the idea that purpose is something you “find” all at once, offering instead a more grounded path—one built through action, experimentation, and committing fully to the season you’re in. Together, Jay and Rob explore how fear, past pain, and self-judgment quietly hold people back, and how small, imperfect steps can begin healing old wounds while building confidence, competence, and momentum in the present. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Build Discipline When Motivation Disappears  How to Stay Consistent Even When You Fall Off Track How to Focus on One Habit for 100 Days How to Design Your Environment for Better Habits How to Turn Discipline Into Self-Love How to Not Quit Even When You Don’t See Results  How to Make 2026 Your Best Year by Doing Less, Not More Focus on what you can control today. Do one thing well. Create habits that support the person you want to become, and be patient with yourself as you grow into them. Jahnavi: How to Create Inner Calm When Life Feels Overwhelming (THIS Simple Daily Practice When Your Mind Won't Stop!)

Today, Jay sits down with longtime friend and Grammy-nominated devotional artist Jahnavi Harrison for a deeply personal conversation about faith, creativity, and living a life of service. Together, they reflect on spiritual grounding as a daily practice, not rooted in perfection but in the ability to remain steady through uncertainty and change. Jay and Jahnavi explore the often unseen journey behind purpose-driven work, how passion gradually becomes discipline, and discipline shapes a life of devotion. They unpack the courage it takes to walk a less conventional path, especially in a world that often values conformity and external validation. Through stories of growing up between two worlds, wrestling with self-expression, and finding healing through music and mantra, they invite us to reconsider success not as achievement, but as alignment. As the conversation unfolds, their focus turns to prayer, service, and staying connected when you feel lost. Jay and Jahnavi share why speaking to God, serving others, and creating space for vulnerability can become powerful anchors during difficult seasons. Ultimately, this conversation reminds us that spirituality isn’t about having everything figured out, it’s about showing up with sincerity, listening deeply, and choosing to give, even when the path ahead is unclear. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Find Peace Through Sacred Sound How to Stay Grounded When Life Feels Overwhelming How to Turn Doubt Into a Deeper Faith How to Express Yourself When You Feel Invisible How to Trust Your Intuition Over External Pressure How to Integrate Spirituality Into Everyday Life How to Reconnect With Purpose Through Service How to Talk to God in Your Own Way You are allowed to take your time, to find your voice in your own way, and to choose a path that feels meaningful rather than impressive. Healing and purpose don’t come from perfection, but from showing up sincerely and trusting that what you offer with love will return in its own time. Mel Robbins: How to Use the ‘Let Them Theory’ (A Life Changing Mindset Hack That 15 Million People Can’t Stop Talking About)

Have you ever let someone just be themselves? How do you remind yourself what’s in your control? Today, Jay  sits down with best-selling author and motivational speaker Mel Robbins to discuss her revolutionary “Let Them Theory.” Mel introduces a powerful mindset tool designed to help listeners take control of their thoughts, actions, and emotions while letting go of what they cannot control. This conversation dives into the heart of personal growth, resilience, and building a life centered on peace and purpose. Mel begins by explaining the core of the “Let Them Theory,” which is about recognizing the limits of control. She emphasizes the importance of letting others be who they are, accepting situations as they unfold, and redirecting focus to what’s within your power. Through vivid examples, Mel demonstrates how this approach can reduce stress, strengthen relationships, and reclaim wasted energy. Jay and Mel also explore the emotional weight of unmet expectations and the difference between “Let It Go” and “Let Them.” Mel shares how this subtle shift in mindset fosters empowerment rather than passivity. They also discuss the complexities of adult friendships and how they evolve over time. Mel introduces the three pillars of adult friendship—proximity, timing, and energy—and explains how these factors influence the ebb and flow of connections. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Identify What You Can Control How to Handle Stressful Situations at Work How to Set Boundaries with Difficult People How to Let Go of Unmet Expectations How to Manage Toxic Relationships Effectively How to Build Meaningful Adult Friendships How to Reclaim Energy Wasted on Others Remember, you don’t need to have it all figured out. Start small. Say "let them" to release what’s draining you and "let me" to reclaim your energy and choices. why you can’t relax: the 5 survival spells running your life

These five “survival spells” once kept you safe. Now they’re quietly running your life. Many adults live with a constant undercurrent of tension. Rest feels conditional. Even moments of safety carry a sense of hypervigilance. This episode explores the internal logic behind that state that so many of us are trapped in. Together, we’ll examine five psychological illusions that often shape adulthood beneath our conscious awareness: control, performative identity, scarcity, isolation, and perfectionism. Each one of these strategies are formed for a particular reason. Each also solved a very real problem at an earlier stage of our lives. Over time, these patterns harden into rules and internal scripts that determine how much ease and connection feel permissible for us. Rather than approaching these patterns as pathologies (which is all too common in our modern culture), this conversation treats them as intelligent adaptations with a mythic structure. Survival morphs into a spell while adulthood becomes a role that requires our constant micromanagement. Drawing from depth psychology, nervous system awareness, and symbolic thinking, this episode offers language for experiences that often feel impossible to put into words. It follows how modern life rewards vigilance while eroding the very conditions required for genuine rest, and how recognizing the underlying workings of these inner contracts changes the way they operate within you. The goal is here is not to “fix.” I think we’re all tired of trying to fix ourselves. What we want to do in this episode is to open up to inquiry. Meaning tends to emerge through recognition. The real work begins with seeing what has been quietly organizing your inner world in the background for your entire life without you being aware of it at all. That’s the spell. Let’s break it together. And before you go, don’t forget to follow @moods.codex on Instagram to be the first to hear when the waitlist opens for my new inner work app. Hosted on Acast. Jay’s Must-Listens: 4 Powerful Lessons to Reflect From This Year & Move Into the Next With Clarity & Inspiration ft. Dr. Orna & Novak Djokovic

Today, we reflect on the moments that shaped us, challenged us, and quietly transformed us over the past year. Not just the highlights, but the heartbreaks, the pauses, the uncomfortable in-between seasons that forced us to grow in ways we didn’t fully understand at the time. In this special end-of-year compilation, you’ll hear powerful, deeply human insights from voices like Selena Gomez, Cardi B, Madonna, Novak Djokovic, Mel Robbins, Codie Sanchez, and more. Each conversation reveals how love, loss, pressure, purpose, spirituality, money, and self-belief intersect in real life, and why growth so often comes from moments we never would have chosen. You’ll hear Selena and Benny reflect on how love grows through safety, patience, and showing up imperfectly. Cardi B opens up about depression, heartbreak, and how time, accountability, and resilience helped her reclaim her power. Madonna shares why cultivating an internal, spiritual life is essential in a noisy, distracted world, while Novak Djokovic explores the tension between ambition, self-worth, and purpose even at the peak of success. Mel Robbins challenges us to reclaim our energy by letting go of other people’s opinions, and Codie Sanchez reframes money, risk, and opportunity as skills that can be learned rather than fears to avoid. Together, these conversations remind us that growth isn’t linear, healing takes time, and the most meaningful progress begins when we listen inward, protect our energy, and move forward with intention. In this episode, you'll learn: How to Turn Hard Seasons Into Personal Growth How to Build Love Through Vulnerability and Safety How to Heal After Heartbreak Without Rushing the Process How to Embrace Failure as a Starting Point, Not an Ending How to Let Go of Other People’s Opinions and Reclaim Your Energy How to Build Resilience Through Accountability and Time How to Move Forward With Purpose, Not Pressure Give yourself permission to heal at your own pace, to learn without shame, and to start again as many times as you need. Protect your energy, listen to what truly matters to you, and trust that small, intentional steps create meaningful change over time.  With Love and Gratitude, Jay Shetty. Dr. Caroline Leaf reveals that depression and anxiety aren't diseases; they're messengers trying to tell you something important. For nearly four decades, she's proven through rigorous neuroscience research that your mind controls your brain, not the other way around, and that you have far more power over your mental health than you've been told. You'll learn the exact five-step neurocycle process she's used with everyone from traumatic brain injury survivors to Navy SEALs to help them reclaim control of their thoughts and emotions. Feel Like Everyone Else Is “Ahead” of You? This is How You Rebuild Your Life at Any Stage & Start Trusting Your Timeline

In this episode, Jay explores the pressure of the “social clock,” that unspoken timeline that tells us when we should reach certain life milestones. He unpacks research revealing that we’re never truly “late,” we’re simply measuring our progress against someone else’s schedule. Jay explains that the fear of falling behind is really a fear of losing control, and he shares how reclaiming that sense of control is far more important than hitting every milestone on time. He also unpacks the career anxiety so many people are experiencing today. With frequent job changes and a longer phase of “emerging adulthood,” he reminds us that feeling lost or stuck isn’t a sign of failure, it’s a sign that you’re still exploring. Jay reflects on what purpose truly means, and why your purpose isn’t a job title or income level but the deeper reason behind everything you do. Finally, Jay explores age, growth, and possibility, reminding us that the brain can rewire itself at any stage of life and that happiness often follows a U-shaped curve. If you feel like you’re in a low point, you may actually be standing right before the rise. In this episode, you'll learn: How to Stop Living by the Social Clock How to Feel In Control of Your Life Again How to Navigate Career Changes with Confidence How to Redefine Purpose Beyond Your Job How to Build Relationships That Truly Support You How to Grow Even When You Feel “Behind” You’re not late. why you’re obsessed with people who can’t love you back

This episode examines limerence not as a personality flaw or a trendy attachment term, but as a learned psychological strategy that begins in childhood. Rather than treating obsession as irrational, we explore how it develops as a way to survive inconsistent, misattuned, or emotionally absent parenting, and how that same strategy later shows up in adult relationships. This phenomenon explains why so many of us become fixated on emotionally unavailable partners and why the end of even a short relationship (or even a situationship) can feel devastating in a way that doesn’t match the actual reality of the situation. It’s why obsession often gets mislabeled as “love” or “passion.” We look at how the mind uses fantasy and idealization to stabilize itself and why emotionally unavailable people reliably trigger these patterns. What This Episode Covers What limerence actually is (and what it isn’t)Why obsession often forms around people you barely knowHow childhood coping strategies turn into adult romantic fixationThe role of emotional unavailability and intermittent reinforcementWhy intensity gets confused with intimacy and “fate”How fantasy and projection stabilize the nervous systemThe overlooked spiritual dimension of limerence and devotionWhat it means to finally step out of the pattern without self-blame UNLOCK BONUS EPISODES, VOICE NOTES & THE FULL ARCHIVE Join the BFTB Patreon community and become a Premium Submarine, where you’ll unlock hundreds of hours of paywalled content I’ve been building since 2021. ⟁ Visit backfromtheborderline.com for free resources, updates, and everything else I offer. ⟁ Or go straight to patreon.com/backfromtheborderline to join now.
