Are You Laser-Focused on Your Niche?

Are you laser-focused on your niche? You might think you’ve niched down, but is it enough?
That’s something I get into with my guest today, Jim Huffman.
Jim has helped grow a multi-million-dollar agency, but he recently launched a more productized service called One Day Design. It’s a web design business promising a fully developed website in just 24 hours.
We talk all about the power of productizing, how to find your perfect offer, and how to niche down even further than you think you need to.
    Let's dive in right away!

[SHORT] Can I Really Raise My Rates?

[SHORT] Can I Really Raise My Rates?

You're listening to our brand-new Freelance to Founder SHORTS, 5-10 minute episodes answering one (or two) questions from listeners like you.
To submit your question, visit FreelanceToFounder.com/ASK and we'll feature you on an upcoming episode.
Today's question comes from Annie Milner, who was on the show previously. It was great to hear back from her again.
She says, "I have a question. I haven't raised my rates in two to three years, partly due to COVID. I currently charge $75 per hour.
Do you think that's it's too drastic to raise to $85 per hour? Important to note that I quote on a per project basis, so it's unlikely most clients will even notice.
I'm about to write a new contract with a retainer client, though, who actually nudged me about raising my rates. So really, the question is, you know, can I raise my rates? Should I raise my rates?"

    Imposter Syndrome

    Imposter Syndrome

On today’s episode, I’m not here. I mean, I’m reading this right now, but when this conversation took place, I was dealing with some family stuff.
In my absence, Clay is joined by our very good friend Adam Wright—a very talented freelancer who works on both of our teams.
Clay and Adam get into one of the toughest topics all of us face at one time or another. That’s Imposter syndrome. And I have to say, it’s a great conversation. We hope you enjoy it.

How Much Should You Spend on Marketing?

How Much Should You Spend on Marketing?

On today’s show, our guest skipped out, so Clay and I hit record to discuss something we see a lot of business builders get wrong: marketing budgets.
You know that phrase, “you’ve got to spend money to make money”?
Well, you might have thought: "that’s not necessarily true. I get referrals for free."
But you DO have to spend money in order to predictably SCALE your business. So how can you know exactly how much to spend on marketing efforts next year?
Today, we’ll walk you through a simple formula for identifying just how much you should pay for marketing without taking on too much risk.
This episode originally aired on December 2, 2021.

CazShe ,

Fantastic Advice for creative business owners

This is one of my favourite podcasts for small creative businesses. Preston and Clay (+ guest hosts) are great at getting to the core of different issues for their guests and teasing out the detail to provide solutions. Even if you don’t think an episode is applicable because it’s a different business model/industry to yours you will still come away with valuable insights. Cannot recommend highly enough!

The Dwelling Light ,

Epic content and amazing production

This podcast is an energy booster for the side hustler. I’m so glad I found it.
