Listening from Australia, I’ve just finished episode 4. As a mother of two children, this is absolutely unfathomable to me. The lies, manipulation, coercion and brain washing these young women endured is horrifying. I read a review comment about the narration being hyper dramatic. Being coerced to give away your child in a time sensitive situation (impending birth and a 10 day time frame on being able to reclaim parental rights) is a dramatic, high pressure situation. There was another comment ‘but nobody remembered to ask what did the child want in this situation’. The children being taken are literally newborns incapable of making such a decision. Even now that some of these children are adults, how can you ask someone to compare the years they have had living and building connection with an adoptive family to imagining what their life *may* have been like with their biological parent(s). How may they feel if they had all those years to build connection with them….. I really hope there will be consequences for this awful maternity home and those involved.

I would give this podcast 5 stars but, Wondery has imposed a paywall halfway through the episodes. No warning you can’t finish the podcast, only “early access” offered. The content and production is excellent, the host is great. Maybe one day I’ll get to finish it.

What an incredible and emotional podcast. I don’t think I have ever cried so much listening to a podcast before. As a mother of 2 toddlers I can’t imagine the pain and heartbreak these mothers have been through. My heart goes out to all of parents involved. I truly believe every person who is pro life should listen to this podcast and all these women’s stories need to be heard.
