The anatomy of a Twitter war

The anatomy of a Twitter war

We are back, people! With our first face-to-face recording in what feels like twenty years!

On today's show: Robert Pattinson's, ahem, strange take on pasta. Plus, the Chrissy Teigen and Alison Roman debacle enthralling the internet. And then, Alan Jones' long, lingering legacy on the Australian media landscape.

This week, Mich gave a yum, not sponsored recommendation to try Toblerone ice creams from your local supermarket. Zara recommended watching Spotlight on Netflix.

Here's that Pajiba story by Roxana Hadadi on ethnic erasure in food culture. For the Mumbrella feature on Alan Jones by Vivien Kelly click here. And you can find the SBS Viceland video, 'An honest tribute to Alan Jones', here.

    IN ISOLATION: Turia Pitt

    G'day! It's Thursday! Hooray!

Today on the show, we bring you the remarkable Turia Pitt. Turia is an author, mining engineer, athlete, and motivational speaker. In 2011, she was caught in a grassfire while running an ultramarathon, suffering severe burns to 65 per cent of her body as a result. In the almost decade since, Turia is now one of Australia's most inspiring voices.

In this chat, we ask Turia exactly how she responds to her inner critic, as well as whether there's pressure that comes with being such a leading voice on resilience at a time like this.

Thank you so much to Andalou Naturals. Their products are currently 40 per cent off (!!!) at Chemist Warehouse's online store. Click here to shop.

If you'd like to see more from Turia, which you no doubt 1000% do, follow her on Instagram at @turiapitt. You can also find her School of Champions course here.

    What's in a name?

    Hey hey! It's Mondaaaayyy!

On today's show: We try to decode Elon Musk and Grimes' baby name. Plus, is publicly calling out trolls online off limits when they're under the age of 18? And finally, we finish with a conversation about the current state of foodie culture.

This week, Zara recommended watching Normal People on Stan and eating Barbeque Shapes. (Not spon, just important.) Mich then recommended you get a Koala mattress. (Again, not spon, but equally as important.)

The GoFundMe for Ahmaud Arbery's family is here.

DO NOT LISTEN

I could not be more disappointed with the toxic echo chamber that these girls have engendered. Please spare your brain cells and skip this podcast.

Miss the old conversations

Another OG listener here. I loved what you ladies produced and listening in my car use to be the highlight of my week. I feel like reading the reviews my thoughts are echoed in that the recent content feels different and less nuanced. I have found myself leaving the Facebook group and deleting episodes from my listen lists as I become less interested. I really hope the old insightful conversations return as I’d love to tune in again.

Clarity needed x

Hi girls! I’ve been a long time listener of the podcast and I unfortunately agree with a lot of feedback that’s been given in some of the reviews below. I don’t think anything really needs to be rehashed as it’s mostly been said. I wanted to make a point though of saying you’re absolutely allowed to change the direction of the podcast and you’re absolutely entitled to change your views or certain stances on particular topics - some people will agree and others won’t and that’s okay. I think people are ‘angry’ because they’re confused. They’re hasn’t been much clarity on the path the podcast is taking. It ends up leaving the long time listeners confused as to whether or not this is something that does align with their views or if this is podcast they should continue to engage in when it’s straying from the original message that brought most of us here in the first place.

It’s also a shame a lot of us feel the only place we can safely share any criticism or differing opinions is in the reviews. These should be conversations that should be able to be had in the group.

I hope this feedback is useful and I wish you all the best! xx
