Stop the welcome to country at the end it’s not needed
Ep 526 A.I and tech in property
29/12/2024
Very knowledgeable presenter and well put to the audience but I don’t share her excitement about big tech tracking my property searches, connecting agents so we get random phone calls asking if we want to sell, getting algorithm generated suggestions on what the bot thinks I want etc. I’m old school like John, just want to search what I want to search and leave me to it. And honestly, do we have to do welcome to country for a podcast, geez people
False dichotomy of increasing prices on shelters
07/08/2024
Investors tempering out of. Victoria due to new policies is not the issue here. I’m not sure why it’s always touted as such. Other states perhaps should follow suit. Housing prices continuing to increase without adequate policies to temper them is not helpful to the displaced, renters or home owners for shelter. For every house that’s not demanded by investors- it would likely benefit a home owner who used to rent due to soaring and unsustainable prices. Supply is not the issue if we manage demand type. Consider multiple home owners and short term leasing — an aging population of people living much longer and another boomer type population coming of age, then on top of that our record immigration - tax and funding on property as investment incentives, etc etc. list can go on before we even get to what’s sustainable . These are all stresses to be discussed instead of always focusing on prices and capital gains. Melbourne’s ever increasing rubbish along public roads, highways and spaces as an example— development need to also take stock of ongoing maintenance of infrastructure and surrounds. Otherwise livable cities will end up being dumps where everyone loses, but the most upper echelons.
