  • The Deep-Thinking Habits That Quietly Change Your Life

The Deep-Thinking Habits That Quietly Change Your Life

Train your brain to resist distraction, form your own opinions, and think like an intellectual. When every answer is one click away, we’ve forgotten how to enjoy the struggle of figuring things out. This episode explores the radical act of thinking more slowly in a fast-paced world. Modern life has made us intellectual snackers: we graze on headlines, notifications, and other people’s opinions until our minds feel full on intellectual candy floss. Drawing on ideas from Cal Newport, Charlie Munger, and curious historical figures, we unpack why boredom, better information, and stronger memory are the unsung heroes of clear thinking. You’ll learn: How to design an information diet that actually feeds your brain How to become comfortable enough with silence to let your own ideas emerge How to train your attention so it doesn’t sprint away at the first ping. You don't need to turn into a monk, but hopefully this is a gentle nudge to think with more depth, nuance, and independence. • How to Stop Living Paycheck to Paycheck & Finally Get Ahead

How to Stop Living Paycheck to Paycheck & Finally Get Ahead

In this episode, you’ll learn some of the best financial advice you’ll ever hear - no matter what your financial situation is right now. If getting ahead only seems to be getting harder, and you’re tired of living paycheck to paycheck, you need to hear this: Harder doesn’t have to mean hopeless. Today, Mel sits down with Vivian Tu – bestselling author, and the personal finance educator millions know as Your Rich BFF –  for a conversation about what to do when you’re over feeling broke, behind, or overwhelmed by money. Vivian has been there, and she knows how hard it is to get ahead right now when everything costs more and your paycheck just doesn’t stretch the way it used to. Her message is simple: You don’t have to be broke forever. In this blunt but compassionate conversation, she’s sharing practical moves that can help you start taking your power back – whether you’re buried in debt, starting with nothing saved, worried you’ll never own a home, behind on retirement, or wondering where to begin. You’ll learn:  -Why “just spend less” is bad advice — and the system that works better -The painless way to pay off your debt   -How to get the raise you deserve   -How to think about retirement when you feel hopelessly behind  -The home-buying question most people never ask  -How living with your parents is a power move  -The beginner investing mistake no one warns you about  -The money conversation couples should have much earlier  -The mindset shift from feeling powerless to taking control  Vivian says money is a tool, and the point of having more of it is power, freedom, and the ability to feel in control again – or maybe for the first time. Life isn’t always fair, and getting ahead right now feels harder than it should, but Vivian says there are still moves you can make. You’re not the problem, but you do get to be the solution. Be Aware of Your Blind Spots (Part 2)

Don't let your blind spots stay your blind spots. In this week's episode, John Maxwell continues his lesson on the most common blind spots that derail leaders—and how awareness unlocks your influence and potential. After his lesson, Mark Cole and Traci Morrow unpack the practical steps you can take to apply these principles in your own leadership.  Key takeaways:  Insecurity causes a leader to think only of themselves, and the very essence of leadership is others. Pride is concerned about who's right. Humility is concerned about what's right. Character doesn't make you a leader, but it protects you as a leader. Our BONUS resource for this episode is the Be Aware of Your Blind Spots (Part 2) Worksheet, which includes fill-in-the-blank notes from John's teaching. You can download the worksheet by visiting MaxwellPodcast.com/BeAware and clicking "Download the Bonus Resource." August in Russia is a special month. On the one hand, summer is still going on. It is warm outside, people go to the dacha, swim, walk, and eat watermelons. On the other hand, everyone already feels that autumn is close. The evenings become cooler, the days become shorter, and school notebooks, backpacks, and pens appear in stores. In August, many families prepare for the new school year. Parents buy children clothes, shoes, stationery, and school supplies. Children are usually not very happy, because vacation is ending. But sometimes they are interested in seeing their friends again and finding out who their new teacher will be. August is also harvest time. People pick apples, cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, and berries. Many people make jam, pickle cucumbers, or freeze vegetables for the winter. That is why August often feels like a month between freedom and preparation. ⸻ Personal insta – https://instagram.com/dasha.savage Slow Russian Podcast Transcript and audio download for $20 – https://russian.fromzerotofluency.com/courses/slowrussian Join my free email course with A LOT of useful materials for self-learning – http://realrussianclub.com/subscribe My premium step-by-step course for Russian language learners – https://russian.fromzerotofluency.com/ Get all three levels together and save $102 – https://russian.fromzerotofluency.com/bundles/all-of-from-zero-to-fluency UNDERSTANDING RUSSIA (new cultural course, no knowledge of Russian language required)–  https://russian.fromzerotofluency.com/courses/understanding-russia

She introduces her “Five to Thrive” habits: making an hour each day for yourself, drinking more water, giving up something you know isn’t serving you, moving your body for at least 30 minutes, and practicing daily gratitude. Rachel emphasizes that knowing what will improve your life isn’t enough—you have to consistently apply that knowledge, embrace discomfort, and create the structure and accountability necessary to turn better choices into lasting habits.
