    Free Will, Choice, and Fate

    Free Will, Choice, and Fate

Chris brings the heat with a surprise topic. Do we have free will? What does that even mean? Is God moving us around like pieces on a game board? Are we cogs in the machine of evolutionary nature? We hope you choose to listen to this episode, but if you don't, we hope fate leads you there anyway.

Fossil Fuels. Environmentalism. Alberta. Energy Crises. Climate Change. Capitalism. Kenton.

Fossil Fuels. Environmentalism. Alberta. Energy Crises. Climate Change. Capitalism. Kenton.

In this episode, the gents are joined by long-time listener and contributor, Kenton. As a follow-up to Graham's recent episode about the science of Climate Change, they discuss Alberta's recent energy crisis, our reliance on fossil fuels, the push for cleaner energy sources, and the role of private industry in solving environmental problems. As a long-time employee within the Oil and Gas sector, Kenton provides a new, although not uncommon, perspective for the gents to approach harmoniously. He provides data, experience, and thought-provoking insight to a topic that's so important globally, and has significant relevance within Alberta specifically. It's a great conversation, and we can't wait for you to hear it.

    The News is Killing Us

    The News is Killing Us

How much time do you spend each day thinking about the news and current affairs? Is this healthy? Are you in the know, or blissfully unaware?

Where do you get your news? Facebook? Twitter? Tik-Tok, YouTube, Instagram, or Threads (like Graham)? Or do you surf the web, watch TV, or read the newspaper - like the actual, folded up bundle of paper and ink, newspaper? Or are you enlightened by podcasts?

Do you trust the media you consume? Are you losing your appetite? Or is the news a consistent part of your daily diet? Is it making you healthier? Are you a better person for it?

Linguist, author, human rights and political activist, Noam Chomsky says: “All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.”

But he also says: “The general population doesn't know what's happening, and it doesn't even know that it doesn't know.”
So what do we do? Is the news essential to our survival? Or is it killing us?
