I've been a long time listener of the "FromThe Spirit World Podcast", which was hosted by Dylan as well, and I was really excited when he announced that he (and the rest of the really, really great co-hosts) would be back with a general animation podcast. Somehow "Overly Animated" is even better than I thought it could be (and I had high expectations; anyone who could podcast for over an hour on LoK and ATLA is worth listening to), which is honestly such a treat for people who are just discovering this podcast. Since many of the co-hosts are well experienced, there's no real akward phase where they try to figure out how this podcast is going to function- it just kills it with every new episode. Moreover, the podcast continuously introduces new types of "podcast series" such as the Pixar Retrospectives and the Studio Ghibli Retrospectives. Personally, even the new "Dylan Discourse" is really intriguing and fun to listen to, even though it's not necessarily animation related. Probably because these co-hosts have such a great understanding of the show's fanbase and the workings of fandom, because they're all genuine fans of the shows/movies they are covering. Which I find so refreshing, that's why I think anyone who calls themselves a fan of animation should check this podcast out. And hey, if you don't agree with anything they say or wanna shout praises at them, they're pretty active on tumblr/twitter.
