Uncritical when it comes to health and weight topics

Noel King hosts most of the episodes related to health, fitness and diet. These episodes are deeply incurious and uncritical of pretty much everything being touted by ‘health’ influencers, particularly when it comes to weight. It’s so strange that this area is such a blind spot when their reporting typically is much better. At times it can even feel fatphobic. Better off listening to any other science podcast when it comes food and health.

My favorite thing about today explained is their ability to pick nuanced stories that should interest everyone, but unfortunately don’t get a lot of media attention. Their series on Ozempic has been standout and has provided insights I otherwise wouldn’t have seen. Today explained offers a more wide reaching perspective on unexpected yet pertinent issues and they always have wonderful guests to back up their stories. Plus the hosts are actually funny and charismatic!!!!
