    Myth of Balance

Two days into my wife being out of town, I already ate all four of her homemade waffles for breakfast. So much for moderation. That got me thinking about balance — the thing we all say we want but can never actually hold onto. Balance isn't a state. It's a moment. It shows up for a second, and then it's gone, like trying to stand on a balance ball at the gym. Today, I'll make the case that chasing balance might be stealing your best work. There's a better way to live, and it involves letting go. Featured Story When I was a kid, I was on a playground in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, right by the Susquehanna River. My brother was bigger than I was, and we were on a seesaw trying to figure out how to balance it perfectly. Scoot forward a little. Scoot back. Tiny adjustments. For one beautiful moment, we nailed it. Both our legs were flying. Pure balance. Then he jumped off. And I crashed straight to the ground. I think about that seesaw every time someone tells me they want their life balanced. Because there are eight billion people out there who are more than happy to jump off and drop you. Important Points Balance isn't a static state you can lock in — it's dynamic and fleeting, and chasing it will keep you frustrated. Imbalance is often where your best work happens — when you're immersed, don't interrupt yourself to even things out. Eight billion people are ready to jump off your teeter-totter — stop expecting the world to stay balanced with you. Memorable Quotes Balance is a myth. Release yourself from the burden of trying to maintain it. Grab it when you can and just move on. I have learned in my own personal life that imbalance is actually better. It's just who I am, and maybe who you are too. If you try to balance yourself out, there are about eight billion people who will jump off and drop you to the ground. Scott's Three-Step Approach First, drop the idea that balance is something you can hold onto forever — it's a moment, not a permanent destination. Then, when you're fully immersed and in the zone, stay there — don't break your own flow just to even out the day. Then, when life knocks you off — and it will — embrace it as the swing, get back when you can, and keep going. You Might Also Like: On Purpose with Jay Shetty

Introducing Tim Ferriss: Feeling Stuck Right Now? (Use THIS 10-Minute Exercise to Stop Overthinking and Take Action) from On Purpose with Jay Shetty. Follow the show: On Purpose with Jay Shetty Sometimes we become so fixated on improving our lives that we stop asking a more important question: what actually matters? Jay sits down with Tim Ferriss for something deeper than a discussion on productivity, it’s an exploration of how to live with real intention. Instead of chasing shortcuts or stacking habits, Jay turns the focus inward, examining how our thoughts, emotions, and daily choices quietly shape the life we end up living. Drawing from years of personal experimentation, Tim draws from years of experimentation to reveal a powerful truth: most of what holds us back isn’t a lack of discipline, it’s a lack of alignment, between what we say matters, what we focus on, and how we actually live. Throughout the conversation, Jay returns to a theme he often explores, the tension between achievement and acceptance. In a world that rewards constant hustle and endless optimization, it’s easy to believe we always need to do more, fix more, and become more. Tim opens up about his own struggles with anxiety and obsessive thinking, offering a more grounded view of growth, one that isn’t just about pushing forward, it’s also about knowing when to pause, simplify, and let go of what no longer serves you. In this episode you'll learn: How to Focus on What Truly Matters How to Stop Chasing the Wrong Goals How to Improve Your Life by Subtracting How to Build Better Daily Habits How to Ask Better Questions for Clarity How to Avoid Burnout While Staying Productive How to Break Free from Distractions How to Create Meaningful Progress in Life How to Align Your Actions with Your Purpose Real change often begins with a single shift, paying attention to where your energy goes, questioning what truly matters, and giving yourself permission to slow down when needed. Growth isn’t just about doing more; it’s about doing what’s right for you, with intention. Awakening to Vision

I had one of those weeks where something shifts. Not loud or dramatic. Just a quiet stirring inside that told me I wasn't quite aligned anymore. Maybe you know the feeling. Something's waking up in you, and you can't name it yet, but it keeps showing up. That's the beginning of vision. And most people miss it because they think vision arrives with fireworks. It doesn't. It's older and quieter than that. Today I'll show you how to spot it, why you shouldn't rush it, and what to do when the chaos finally settles into clarity. Featured Story Years ago, I produced television shows for a living. Somebody would hire me, cast their vision for what they wanted, and my whole job was to make sure it ended up on film exactly how they saw it. I became the keeper of their vision. Then one day it hit me. Who's keeping mine? Most of us go our whole lives holding somebody else's dream on our shoulders. A boss, a spouse, a company, a culture. And we get so good at it we forget we ever had one of our own. Your vision has been inside you the whole time. It's just waiting for you to notice it again. Important Points Your vision isn't brand new — it's been stirring in you since childhood, waiting for recognition, not arrival. Chaos always shows up before clarity does — don't rush to solve it; give the pieces time to gather on their own. When you're on the edge of something big, grinding harder won't get you there — stopping to let it finish arriving will. Memorable Quotes It always feels like chaos before it turns into clarity. Don't solve it fast — let it settle on its own. It's not so much an arrival — it's a recognition. Your vision has been stirring inside you since you were a kid. Your body knows it way before your mind and your mouth do. Trust that order — it's always simpler than you expect. Scott's Three-Step Approach Start by noticing what's stirring inside you — the quiet pull in the morning, the thought that keeps coming back. Then stop pushing and let it finish arriving — the chaos always settles faster when you give it room to gather. Then, when the pieces settle into simple clarity, take the action and trust it — you already know what to do next. Chapters 0:02 - A philosophical week and why this podcast is late 2:07 - What it means to be keeper of the vision 3:48 - The quiet stirring you can feel but can't name yet 6:04 - Why your vision isn't new — it's always been in you 8:58 - Why chaos always shows up before clarity 10:40 - The reason grinding won't get you over the edge Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify If you enjoy the Daily Boost, you might like Notes From Scott. Turn Into Your Dreams

Ever have one of those moments where you just want the world to stop spinning so you can catch your breath? You're not alone. Most people I talk to are one step away from doing the things that fire them up. This episode is about what happens when you stop wishing and start turning directly into whatever's standing between you and your dreams. It's not about fighting harder. It's about facing what's real, building from where you are, and moving forward. If you've been sitting on something you know you're meant to do, this one's for you. Featured Story Years ago, I made a decision that changed everything. I told myself I'd always turn face-first into any challenge standing between me and my dreams. Sounds bold, right? You know what happened next? I tripped. I stumbled. I fell into what somebody recently called a pile of crumpled dreams. But it wasn't the hard ground — it was more like a dirty mattress that caught my fall. I got up, brushed myself off, and realized that deciding to face your passion is only the beginning. The decision doesn't make it happen. It just opens the door. Everything after that is where the real work starts. Important Points Almost everybody is one step shy of doing the things that fire them up — the gap is way smaller than you think. You can't self-actualize under chaos — building a peaceful base gives you the solid foundation to move forward. Deciding to go after what you want is only the beginning — the real work starts right after you make the decision. Memorable Quotes Almost everybody I know is just a step shy of doing the things that really make them happy — and they don't see it. I decided I would always turn face-first into any challenge standing between me and my dreams and make it real. Deciding to face your passion is only the beginning — just deciding to do it doesn't make it happen. You gotta move. Scott's Three-Step Approach Turn face first into the challenge standing between you and your dreams — stop avoiding what's uncomfortable now. Build a peaceful base by honestly facing your stress, your relationships, your health, your finances, and spiritual beliefs. Move forward from that solid foundation — break it down to the ridiculous and start building one step at a time. Can AI Help You Face Your Passion?

Everyone’s chatting with AI until three in the morning, getting every answer imaginable and still feeling stuck. I’ve been watching it happen — coaches losing clients, YouTubers losing views, smart people drowning in free information. Something big is shifting right now, and if you don’t see it, you’re going to miss the opportunity of a lifetime. I want to show you what AI can do, what it can’t, and why the people who figure out the difference are about to run circles around everyone else. Press play and let’s talk about it. Featured Story Last weekend, I was at church helping produce services. We’ve grown from 240 people to 600 people across three services, and the gear room is packed with fancy audio and video equipment. I’m walking around with eight young people — all passionate, all trying to figure it out. Every one of them had a phone out, chatting with ChatGPT, pulling up manuals. I walked up behind them. Click that thing over there, twist that one, and I think they call it this. Four different pieces of equipment, four problems solved. The old boomer in the room just fixed it. Not because I’m special — because I had something the phone didn’t. Important Points AI gives you information, not implementation — and that gap is exactly where most people quietly get stuck forever. Experience and wisdom are the new premium commodity because a machine can’t hand you what only living has taught. Talk is cheap, and information is free, but doing your own push-ups still separates movers from endless chatters. Memorable Quotes You have to do your own push-ups — the computer isn’t going to get on the floor and do them for you. Not yet, anyway. Talk is cheap today, and since ChatGPT has a free version, talk is really, really cheap. You get what you pay for. Stand up, take a step, repeat — and when life gets in the way, do it again. The world’s simplest success recipe. Scott’s Three-Step Approach Use AI to quickly gather the raw information you need, but treat it as the starting line, not the finish line. Next, bring in someone with real human experience who can help you discern what matters and what to skip entirely. Finally, get on the floor and do your own push-ups — implement the work yourself, because no one can do it for you. Chapters 0:02 - Playing around with the theme music this week 1:54 - Why you still have to do your own push-ups 3:28 - AI, Face Your Passion, and incomplete answers 6:14 - What’s quietly killing YouTube right now 8:37 - The one thing all this AI still can’t do 12:00 - Stand up, take a step, repeat — still works Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify If you enjoy the Daily Boost, you might like Notes From Scott. Where Belief Comes From

Ever walk into a room where you feel like an outsider? That happened to me last night. Sitting around a table with people who could quote chapter and verse while I barely knew where to start, I had a choice — shrink back or step up. What came out of that moment was a reminder of something I've taught for years about how people actually change their minds. If you've ever tried to persuade anyone of anything — a customer, a kid, a spouse — today's episode hands you the key. Press play and let's dig in. Featured Story Last night I sat down with my small group — a Bible study I got talked into because my son-in-law Joel called it "a discussion." Sneaky. I don't know the book the way these folks do. I've barely read it. So there I was, waiting for the Bible nerds to ace me with questions I couldn't answer. Then something shifted. I looked around the table and realized it was just people. Younger, older, families, jobs. Just people. The room went quiet, and I had to decide — sit in my discomfort or open my mouth. You know me. I opened my mouth. And what I said next surprised even me. Important Points When you feel like the underdog in a room, someone else feels even more out of place than you do. Speak up anyway. People don't change their minds because of facts. They change because of experience — layered, real, memorable. Every interaction today is shaping somebody's beliefs — whether you're walking in aware or asleep at the wheel. Memorable Quotes When you feel out of place in a room, I can promise you, someone else there feels more out of place than you do. If something's working out, don't break it. Just stick with it. And if it's not working out, you'll part anyway. Everything you do today is an experience. And every experience forms somebody's belief system — yours and theirs. Scott's Three-Step Approach Stop arguing facts. Remember you're dealing with a person whose beliefs came from experience, not information. Build a multilayered experience next — multiple touches, emotions, and moments packed into one window of time. Let that experience do the work. New beliefs reshape their values and, eventually, the identity they walk in with. Chapters 0:15 - Slipping into an old pair of comfortable Levi's 1:29 - Sticking around at a church for two and a half years 3:16 - Sneaky invitation to a Bible study small group 5:34 - Realizing they're just people around the table 8:12 - Where your beliefs, values, and identity come from 11:58 - Thirty experiences in one night, dating my wife 13:07 - Every interaction forms somebody's beliefs Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify If you enjoy the Daily Boost, you might like Notes From Scott. Fire Up Your Dopamine

Some days you wake up and everything feels flat. Not bad, just... flat. You go through the motions, check the boxes, and wonder why the spark isn't there. I've been there. Today I'm breaking down the chemistry behind what actually makes you feel alive — dopamine, oxytocin, and how to tap into them on demand. This isn't a neuroscience lecture. It's a practical look at three things you can do right now to rewire your brain for more excitement, more connection, and more of that fire that gets you out of bed ready to go. Featured Story I got a call last week from a young woman who's been listening for 2.5 years. She said, "Scott, what's your deal? I don't get it." And it hit me — I never really spell it out. So here it is. Twenty-five years ago, I walked away from corporate life. I was done with the commute, done sitting at a desk waiting for permission to leave. Then my first wife, Sheryl, got sick and passed away. I lost the most certain thing in my life. But standing there with nothing but cats and a motorcycle, something clicked. I decided I was never going back. I wanted freedom, impact, and a life I actually controlled. Important Points Dopamine is a double-edged sword — it pulls you toward what you love and pushes you away from what's dragging you down. Having something to look forward to fires up your brain before the event even happens — build that list today. Like-minded people create an oxytocin connection that makes everything you're building feel bigger than yourself. Memorable Quotes I was done with the commutes, done sitting at a desk, done waiting for permission to leave and go have my life. When you're willing to open your eyes and follow what captures your interest, you'd be surprised what happens. I hated my life 25 years ago, and I ain't going back — I structured everything around freedom, and I'm keeping it. Scott's Three-Step Approach Start by exploring the possibilities — loosen your grip, open your eyes, and follow what sparks your interest. Build your anticipation engine — make a list of upcoming things you're excited about and keep it where you see it. Add the people — find a like-minded group that shares your drive, because connection is what makes it all stick. Chapters 0:16 - Scott brings back the original theme song 1:55 - A listener finally asks the big question 3:06 - Walking away from corporate life for good 5:48 - The double-edged sword of dopamine and pizza 6:25 - Exploring the possibilities fires up your brain 8:49 - Building your anticipation engine with a list 10:39 - Why like-minded people change everything Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify If you enjoy the Daily Boost, you might like Notes From Scott. Happy Person Operating System

Some of you aren't happy right now — and you're not happy about it. I get it. I've been there. But happy isn't something that just happens to you. It's not a personality you're born with. It's a posture. A decision. A way of showing up before the world even gets a chance to throw its stuff at you. Monday's coming. Problems are coming. The world isn't going to get easier. But you can change how you meet it — starting right now. Press play and let's get your happy operating system running. Featured Story I watch my wife, Joy. And yes — her name literally is Joy. She lives up to it every single day. Consistently happy. Never a problem, except when I cause one. And what gets me: I'm a high-maintenance guy. I'll go ten minutes deep on why there are tomatoes on my sandwich when I didn't ask for them. I have opinions I don't need. I complain. I wobble. But Joy? She never does. So I started copying her. Copying how she thought. How she stood in things. And somewhere along the way, I started becoming more like her. That's when I figured out — happiness is contagious if you let it be. Important Points Happy isn't a personality you were born with — it's a posture you choose on purpose before the day gets started. Every challenge you face is proof you're still in the game — people who stop getting challenges aren't playing anymore. The action always comes first and the feelings follow — don't wait to feel happy before you act like a happy person. Memorable Quotes Happy is not a personality. Happy is a posture — and happy people choose it on purpose every single day. We don't laugh because we're happy. We're happy because we laugh — the action comes first, feelings follow later. Your peace isn't for sale because of what happens today — there's beauty everywhere, and it's always up to you. Scott's Three-Step Approach Pick your posture before the day starts — decide right now how you'll stand in whatever Monday throws your way. Act like the happy version of you that's already there — smile first, move first, and let the feelings catch up. When frustration shows up, take it as a sign you're moving forward — then keep going and celebrate the small wins. Chapters 0:02 - You're not happy — and not happy about it 0:55 - Happy isn't a personality, it's a posture 5:09 - What a happy person's operating system looks like 8:14 - Practical ways to act happy before you feel it 10:30 - Joy, my wife, and what she taught me about happy Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify If you enjoy the Daily Boost, you might like Notes From Scott.
